The staff are very friendly and caring, especially through the pandemic with initiating video calls once a week,. Mum always appears to be happy at the home.

My father ended his days at Meadbank Care Home, and so we installed my mother for about 18-months, and she was very happy at Meadbank. All good.

With everything that has gone on it’s always emotional. I am writing this review with an open mind. The truth is the staff are amazing, a few hold their nerve very well and that can come across as stern, but the staff have done what they could. I can't speak for all staff members but the few we encountered
were great. Special thanks to two members of staff in particular. They were wonderful, peaceful and gracious in their movements. I am grateful that they were with my nan when we could not be. Thank you.
Have to say night team need more work.

The resident was unwell, confused and suffering from delusions. The kindness of all of the staff has been a most effective healing tool, allowing a return to normal life. It is difficult to deal with people who are confused, not only by their new surroundings but also because of an altered mental state.
In this case, it produced fear and aggression. The staff remained kind even when some of his remarks were unintentionally racist. They won my affection and respect.

My husband has advanced Alzheimer's. I needed respite care and I was unable to cope and sleep. My husband is a very sweet docile man but suddenly becomes wild and aggressive. I found all the staff treated him with the utmost kindness and care. They took into consideration his personality and did not
attempt to suppress it.

I had no experience of care homes until we found Meadbank. I have been astonished by the quality of care and medical attention being shown by all the many personnel at Meadbank. I cannot praise you all too much. It has been a pleasure for me to visit here and see how much you helped my cousin in his
final few months. Also, the friendliness and help you have shown me personally. Brilliant.

My mother has been well looked after.
The rooms are exceptionally clean and the premises was immaculate. The entire staff were so welcoming, polite and very nice. I felt at ease when I left my mother in Meadbank Care Home.
I hope when I need respite again, I can send my mum here.
Thank you once again

I arrived at Meadbank, I had a hip replacement following an accident. I have chronic bronchiectasis and a cerebral aneurysm. I had been in hospital for two weeks. I was stressed and exhausted. I am 79 years old.
Nursing, care, cleaning and catering staff are very professional and friendly. They all
have sympathy and empathy. there is harmony among them. I found peace and now I can face the world again.
Thank you, all of the staff together with admin.

My convalescent week from 18th April to 24th April in London Bridge suite could not have been bettered. The Sister is professional and charming, runs a tight ship. My carer could not be more caring and helpful and everyone, including the chefs that helped me, was excellent. I wanted for nothing and
my vegan diet was catered for. Thank you to everyone.

Meadbank agreed to take in my late mother's oldest friend when she was in extreme distress, having tried, at the age of 94, to take her own life as she was terrified of losing her independence and going into a care home. Since her arrival nearly two years ago she has been calm and content. The staff
are competent, kind and friendly, always ready to take that bit of extra trouble even when busy. They seem to have infinite reserves of patience. A weekly programme of activities is organised to encourage residents to socialise and last summer there was even an outing to the Battersea Park barbecue, where some of the friskier residents danced with staff!

My Mum moved to Meadbank in August 18 as she was unable to stay by herself at home anymore. The staff in the Westminster suite looked after my Mum very well and were there up until she sadly passed away in November. She enjoyed her short stay there and formed a lovely bond with the staff. That put my
mind at ease knowing that she was in good hands. For that, I am truly grateful. The staff at the front desk too were always friendly and polite which always made me and my family feel welcome. Thank you to all at Meadbank.

My husband stayed for a 3 weeks respite due to immobility and frequent falls. Due to intense oversight from staff he had no falls whilst there! They prepared a veggie menu for him, which he enjoyed. Staff were helpful and communicated well with family callers and visitors. The general atmosphere was
positive and sociable. His room was fully adequate. Particularly for our family situation, the management staff were very helpful and patient. They even travelled to meet us in our home as we struggled to work out arrangements my husband found acceptable. Fortunately, he ended up admitting that the home was "not so bad".

I recently visited a friend who is currently staying on the first floor.
I have serious concerns about fire safety. The member of staff I saw on the ground floor nearest to the staircase leading to the first floor, did not know the code and advised me to use the lift. Later on, when I tried to use
the staircase to go back down, once again, I was unable to get the code, nor was I able to get out of the building by the nearest exit. Another member of staff, who also didn't have the code to that door, walked me right around the other side of the building to a door where she knew the code so I could leave. In the event of a fire on your premises, I think the consequences would be catastrophic. Please contact me to discuss this issue.

My mother's room was dirty, holes in the wall, electric wires were hanging from the broken electric plugs, the toilet was dirty due to dirty clothes left in the bathroom. I spent time several visits cleaning parts of her room, her table, chairs, toilet. Carpets were disgusting, clothes missing all the
time. I bought all my own cleaning sprays, air fresheners, labels. I bought Mum iron on labels that I had purchased online, I had to iron the labels on several places on her outfit as I was fed up with her clothes going missing. I used to go looking for missing clothes, I tidied her wardrobe, chest of drawers, I also labelled her drawers, to make it easier to find her clothes. When the clothes were cleaned and returned to the room to be put away no one took any notice of the labels, it was always in a mess. Most of the times you could not open the window as the window lock was broken. All of these issues were reported, it was a constant fight to get issues sorted out.

The staff here on the Albert Bridge wing are all wonderful and dedicated professionals. The unit manager, along with her staff, is an 'angel'. This lady is so caring, kind and lovely. The staff did so much to help my mother enjoy the last months of her life and even visited her in hospital. I consider
Meadbank one of the best homes in Lodon, especially if a loved one has dementia. Thank you for all you did.

Current Review Score: 7.8 (7.795)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.8 (7.795) out of 10 for Meadbank Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 3.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 3.896 for Meadbank Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (45 Excellents x 5) + (30 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Poors x 2) + (9 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 3.896

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.899 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Meadbank Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 176 registered maximum number of service users is 35.2. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 35.2 = 0.199

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
