Good things - good food; nice private room; corridors free from smells; good cleanliness; plenty of tea; TVs on. But - personal information supplied by relatives put in packs, then ignored (our guest needed to wear 2 pads at all times, supplied by us, but this was not carried out). Perhaps bedroom outer
doors need panels for displaying info. Big shortage of staff, one day same carer providing afternoon tea, doing hygiene work and preparing worksheets. Felt sorry for them. No continuity. Different carers almost every day. Not enough supervision in first-floor dining room. Poor/slow response from staff to guests in distress with 'choking'. Water put out half way through the meal, rather than the start. Guests waiting a long time for salt/spoon/juice.

My mother came into the home in June, she came from hospital, after spending six weeks there she was very frail and could be difficult at times. She was on the 1st floor where the carers were fantastic and very caring. In no time she returned to her old ways, singing, dancing and swearing. Right from
reception throughout this home, they made my mother so happy. I cannot praise the whole staff enough.

Good comfortable bed. Firm pillow requested but not available.
No seating for visitors in room. Physiotherapists exceptionally good.

I have had the most superb care and help here, once the initial hiccups were overcome.

When my mother was looking for a place, my wife and I looked at a number of homes. Suffice to say Meadbank was one of the best homes that there was. My mother is still there - she is 100. Unfortunately, she has terminal dementia and can't comment. I, as her son, visit every day and am pleased with
the care and attention which she receives.

It's perfect for me and my husband. If there is a problem, I can always go the sister on floor 2 who is wonderful and in charge of floor 2. Marvellous lady and will sort things.

Very, very happy with the care and the ladies are very approachable and I can talk to them.

As a family, my two sisters and I are extremely happy with the care and support given to our eldest sister. The staff are very keen to help, from those on Reception to nursing and caring assistants. They have all taken time and effort to get to know our sister and her particular needs, putting into
place a good package for her.
It is both encouraging and reassuring to know when we all live so far away, that our sister is happy and well cared for.

Very helpful staff, I will recommend to others. Very friendly, my partner and I regularly go to see my mother at Meadbank and find she is always well looked after. I have no problems and find the place clean and tidy, many thanks to all the staff.

A good quality home with well lit, comfortable rooms and appropriate diet.
The range of residents is wide with everything from mild illness to terminal conditions.
The staff appear to cope well with these challenges.
I hope that if/when I need care I will have access to a home like this.

Current Review Score: 7.8 (7.795)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.8 (7.795) out of 10 for Meadbank Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 3.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 3.896 for Meadbank Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (45 Excellents x 5) + (30 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Poors x 2) + (9 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 3.896

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.899 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Meadbank Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 176 registered maximum number of service users is 35.2. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 35.2 = 0.199

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
