As a family member expressing my heartfelt gratitude for the extraordinary effort and care that the Care Home Manager and team put into celebrating my dad's 100th birthday. Your dedication to making the day special brought us immense joy. From the thoughtful decorations to the warm atmosphere, every
detail of the decorations reflected the care and attention you give to all the residents. Your compassion and professionalism mean so much - not just to our father, but to all of us who have the privilege of witnessing the love and care to make each resident feel valued by the wonderful team.

The care provided for my husband is outstanding. The staff are caring and go above and beyond with my husband and our family when we visit. My niece visited today for a function, the staff made her welcome, the food was fantastic and the staff did a lovely dance performance. Fantastic team of staff
at this care home.

During the years my Mother has been in Aston House she has been treated with love by the staff. Any concerns I have raised have been dealt with immediately with kindness and care. The staff that were in the home when my Mum first entered are still the same, that is a variety in this industry but shows
how amazing management must be.

Clean place with staff always at hand and quick to cater to your needs. Staff are easy to locate and they're friendly. Rooms are kept clean. Parking is good. Food is very good and drinks and smoothies in between are regularly given. No faults. Sheets are always clean. The nurse is constantly on duty
and when doctors are required, this is done quickly. The manager introduced herself from the very first day and has kept me updated on things.

Mum has been a resident of Aston House for many years, we have been so happy with the care Mum has received while she has been a resident. She is clean and cared for and seems very content. I am always amazed by the compassion shown by all the staff Mum has interaction with. I don't know what would
have happened over the recent years if Mum wasn't at Aston House. Thank you all.

My nurse is good to everyone and the only time I get a bit of peace is when she is on duty. My son liked my little friend.

Staff always seem caring and attentive, although due to the pandemic less direct contact possible. Being able to have the video calls would be good although occasional visits are now allowed. Some formal report (quarterly) on how my sister was doing would be nice. Overall, she does seem settled and
is okay and seems to like the food.

Reply from Diane Kerwin, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Aston House Care Home

Thank you for your kind comment letting us know how settled your Sister is at the home. In respect of your concern regarding updates on your Sister’s care, moving forward the Team will keep you updated with monthly reviews of the care provided. The pandemic has meant us being more creative in our approach to communication between Residents and their families and we take on board your comments regarding video calls in addition to the visits.

My dad sadly passed away on 30/03/2020 after 5 months at Aston House Care Home. I can not fault my dads care while in Aston House. After months of long hospital stays and fighting over funding to say I was extremely pleased when he was placed in Aston House was an understatement. The home is very well
run by the manager, who is not afraid to lead by example and work on shift when needed. It was also lovely to see regular carers and nurses whenever I visited dad. He had a lovely room which we were allowed to personalise for him and his guests were always made to feel very welcome. My dad had a lot of his family visit him and they all thought very highly of the home. If I did bring small things up with the manager they were always dealt with and never forgotten. My dads care needs were very high at the end but he was looked after very well and I could not have wished for more - Thank you to all the team.

This care home looked after my mother for about five years until she recently passed away. It was mainly the same staff for the whole of this time, and they were always kind, considerate and respectful.
I highly recommend this home.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.495)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.495) out of 10 for Aston House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.862 for Aston House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (84 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 94 Ratings = 4.862

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.633 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Aston House Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 48 registered maximum number of service users is 9.6. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.6 = 0.833

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
