The facility provide first-class nursing and residential care and also provide expert care for those with Dementia in their Memory Lane Community and have a facility for palliative care.

In an ideal world, my father would not have been in any home for respite over Christmas and the New Year, but after a number of falls, this is what was needed. The atmosphere within Atfield House made the difficult situation much more bearable. The staff were consistently helpful, friendly and supportive.
There were lots of activities to help pass the time and to help him come out much stronger, both physically and mentally, than when he arrived.

A nursing home is only as good as the management. At Atfield House it's extremely good. The staff are hardworking and accommodating. When entering there is no odour of old people and likewise in their rooms which means everything is spotless at all times. The food is as good as you would get at any
first-class restaurant. I can't talk any higher about Atfield House. The residents are lucky to be in such a lovely place to spend their final days.

Have visited the home several times since our friend was admitted. On all visits, I have been met by courteous staff. The standard of cleanliness is very high. During four of my visits, I have attended events held by the home. Three of these events formed part of the home's activities and were conducted
and supported extremely well. Our friend's adjustment to and acceptance of life in Atfield House is down to the fine standards mentioned above.

I needed to find somewhere for my father, who has Parkinson’s and dementia, after he fell and broke his hip. He was being rushed out of hospital and we knew that we couldn’t cope at home with the constant nursing care he now needed. I went to look at Barchester Atfield House Care Home and was given
a warm welcome. I was impressed how all the staff (even the cleaners!) knew the residents well and the home is immaculately clean. They were able to arrange a space for my father quickly and he’s now in a lovely room overlooking the park. He has settled well and enjoys the food. There are daily activities to take part in if he wants to. He is always well-groomed. My brother and I have peace of mind that he is well cared for 24 hours a day. We are able to visit whenever suits us. The staff are very responsive to any requests we make. I would highly recommend Atfield House.

My mum came to Atfield House from hospital on 11.9.23. She has Dementia and Parkinson's. My dad has cared for her with the help of carers for the past 4 years. Sadly he could no longer cope. It has been a very emotional time. The staff at Atfield could not be kinder, they are fantastic. She is so well
cared for and we are very happy. The home is more than satisfactory for my mum. I can't speak highly enough of it and the team.

The care home is welcoming, and the staff members are so friendly and caring, including all the management and admin staff, the nurses and the carers. My mother's room is great. The additional facilities (restaurant, cafe, living room and hairdressers) enhance the experience of living there. I'm grateful
I can take my mum to different areas of the home without having to leave it. I feel the specialised dementia unit serves its purpose well. Mum is well cared for, but at times, I feel she could be stimulated more with activities that are suitable for people with dementia. This is being addressed and hopefully improved further (meetings have been organised to support the relatives of residents with dementia). The food is good. I don't know if this is possible, but the smell in the dementia section isn't good. I understand the challenges of keeping smells at bay, but there's a difference between the main care home and the dementia section.

The mother has been in respite care at Barchester Atfield House Care Home and has been very well looked after. The staff have all been lovely and never stop smiling. She has particularly enjoyed lunch in the dining room and walks in the pretty garden afterwards. All in all, her stay has been very successful.

From being met on arrival in the car park to the group send-off after two weeks of respite care, the staff were always welcoming and professional in their demeanour. I won't hesitate using Atfield House again for my mother's care when I need an extended break from being a 24/7 carer.

I needed post-operative care to learn to live without the use of my right arm. I needed to cope with dressing and undressing and personal care. All staff were excellent, thoughtful and helpful, just what I needed to build my confidence before going home. I enjoyed my interaction with them all. Lovely

My friend was in your care for about 18 months. I was so impressed with all your staff and the quality of the food. The team were so caring, full of kindness and warmth. My friend never wanted to be in a home but with you all at Atfield House led by the manager, she felt safe and surrounded by love.

I made sporadic visits from February 2022 to May 2023 to visit my friend each time she was spotlessly clean and her hair looked nice. She loved the food but most of all the cheerful and patient care was wonderful. Despite never wanting to go in a home she was very happy there. An example of how homes
should be run thanks to the manager and his excellent team.

My mother was admitted initially for respite but the family hoped for permanent at 101 years of age. In our family, we have one person who has been a volunteer inspector for the Quality Care Commission, a retired Social Services Purchaser of services for the elderly and a matron for acute admissions.
All had reservations about using a care home, but we all agreed we have absolutely nothing to criticise in the care provided. Caring and helpful staff across all levels, wonderfully supportive when my mother sadly passed away. Highly recommended with our thanks.

Hi, my name is Subin, and I am the General Manager here at Atfield House.
I transferred here from another Barchester Healthcare care home in Chippenham.
I joined Barchester in 2019 and I have been the General Manager of Atfield House Nursing Home since 2022, I am committed to ensuring the residents receive the very highest standard of care, and I am passionate about developing and leading my team in a way in which they are empowered to use their skills and knowledge for the wellbeing of those we support. I am so proud to receive the CQC inspection report with one outstanding rating under a responsive domain. My favourite part of the job is meeting all our residents and finding out about their life and backgrounds -I have met some really interesting people throughout my career and I think life history plays such a vital part in everyone’s care. My vision for Atfield House is to create a “ home away from home environment for our residents and be one big happy family.


I have over 14 years of experience in the care sector and I have recently completed my Step up programme with Warwick University. I really enjoy the daily challenges, team recruitment and always pushing and exceeding performance where I can. I also enjoy adding value, enhancing care and giving elder life purpose to enable residents to engage in a fulfilled life. lam passionate about delivering the levels and standards of care that I would expect for my own parents. My biggest achievement is Making a difference in people's lives throughout my career. I strive to continually develop which ensures that the individuals I care for experience the very best care and life enrichment in later life. I started working in Atfield House in 2004 as a Carer, and was eventually promoted to General Nurse, Head of Unit and, finally, Deputy Manager. I consider Atfield to be one of the most welcoming and friendly homes. My role is to ensure that all residents receive the highest standard of care and always take into account personal wishes and requirements. I focus on delivering person-centred care to support residents in understanding the aging process, to maximize their independence, and create a safe, homely environment for everyone in the home. I offer support and guidance to all Nurses and Carers and work closely with external healthcare professionals.
