The home, staff and customer relations manager have managed my client's transition from home to Carter House very well. They have been kind, caring, supportive at all times and continually assess the change of needs this has needed. She, myself and the family are very happy with how this has been managed
and have full confidence in my client's future there. Thank you. It has been such a relief to all concerned.

We were looking for Nursing Care for our Aunt and visited Carter House without an appointment late on a Friday afternoon in May. The manager was lovely and very welcoming, she showed us all around the home and we immediately knew it would be ideal. We have visited our Aunt a few times now and can show
up whenever we want. This has meant we have seen the home at different times. The management, office staff and the care staff are always cheerful polite and helpful. My Aunt had been completely bed bound at home for 18 months with carers 4 times a day, but since being in Carter House is hoisted and able to leave her room and socialise with other residents and join in with activities. Physically her health has improved dramatically. As she has lived alone for over 40 years she has found it very different but is becoming accustomed to the routines. We are pleased she is safe and well cared for.

Generally, the care here is of a good standard but like in all walks of life, there are great carers and not so good. There are a few here who go that bit more, one carer tries always to stimulate my mother because she needs this care and got a CD player for her and loved it.

The staff have taken such good care of my aunt as her health has declined over the last few weeks. They have been so supportive of us too and kept us informed of changes in her care and treatment.
It is obvious that all the staff have genuine affection for the residents and give comfort to them and
their families in their hour of need.

My husband suffering from terminal cancer resided in Carter House for the last four months of his life. The dedicated staff cared for his every need 24 hours a day.

My husband has been in this care home for 9 months. Right from the beginning, I felt he was in 'safe hands'. As a retired nurse, I find the day to day reports very 'wordy' and 'waffly' and with the constant change of nursing sisters and carers details are overlooked. This is the latest NHS requirement
I believe. I am thankful that he is in a secure environment with kind people.

My mother was at Carter House for four years. During those four years, she was looked after and cared for by the most wonderful staff. I cannot praise them enough for their kind caring attitude towards my mother. That was every single member of staff. The efficient staff in the office who always kept
me informed of how my mother was. The fantastic carers who looked after my mother and didn't just care for her but cared about her. The staff who looked after the cleaning, the staff who were the chefs... all of them were kind considerate and helpful. I commend every single person who worked so hard to make my mothers stay at Carter House a happy one. Thank you so much. I always used to say to the staff I met when I visited my mother, 'You cannot put a price on peace of mind' and that is what I had and my family would agree when my beloved mother stayed at Carter House.
Again, thank you so much.

My sister has been in Carter House now for over a year and the staff are extremely caring and go out of their way to help her in every aspect. I cannot find fault with the excellent service that is always provided. My sister enjoys her trips out on boat trips along the Thames and to local attractions.

The staff at Carter House are fantastic, they have a positive attitude and wonderful empathy for the residents. Their skill and dedication to the smallest detail made Mum's stay as comfortable as possible.

My mother became a resident last August and I felt immediately reassured and relaxed that we had made the right choice due to the kindness and friendliness of the staff. They deal with any problems no matter how small with care and understanding. The home is clean and the rooms comfortable. My mother
enjoys the meals and although she prefers to stay in her room, there are many activities available.

My uncle aged 94 has now been a resident for 17 months after the manager and her team working closely with the local social worker effectively rescued him after day to day life had become too difficult for him to cope. He is now in much improved health, enjoying the daily companionship and the special
activities.
We visit without notice and always find his daily personal needs have been met with chiropody and hairdressing taking place regularly. His room is always kept neat, clean and tidy for him and regular attention is given to medical needs with arrangements in place to ensure doctor and hospital appointments take place, and domiciliary dentist and opticians attend.
Having experienced other residential homes for elderly relatives we have found that Carter House is the best, achieving a homely and friendly atmosphere. After one event my uncle commented “I should have learnt to dance years ago!”. Thank you to all the staff who work hard to keep it that way, it is appreciated.

Very difficult to take the step to get better care for my wife, as my health was being affected. Spent some time with Social Services and Staff at Carter House. Made me feel very comfortable in talking regards my wife. In the first year, I visited my wife at different times of the day and evening, as
well as different days of the week including the weekends. I felt very comfortable at each meeting that my wife was well looked after, seeing to her personal needs (Pampered her), which she enjoyed. While I was away in New Zealand visiting my son, my other son and daughter in law also visited and would relate to me how they found her. My wife was encouraged to take part in a number of activities, had trips to the local supermarket and several other outings. I cannot fault the staff only praise them all.

My Nan was in Carter House for around four months until July 2016.
She was given a place here after breaking her hip and spending 8 weeks in St Helier Hospital.
I cannot recommend Carter House enough. The staff and care are absolutely fantastic. They cared for my Nan so well. I visited every day
and saw the love and care with my own eyes. They would ring us as soon as any problems arose. She had been diagnosed with dementia and would sometimes have a bad day and lash out / try to hurt the staff, but they were so good with her, kept calm & were always completely honest with us about her care.
Even when my Nan was discharged after her 6 weeks stay, she came home and fell within an hour. Knowing it wasn’t safe at home alone, Carter House allowed her back into the home that same evening, even at their expense.
I’m so forever grateful for the care they gave my Nan. She loved her time there and made some lovely friends. I recommend Carter House for exceptional care for loved ones.

I have been on deck for two months and have had plenty of opportunities to watch how things are done. I have been impressed with the way staff manage difficult residents, staying patient and collected although I am sure the stress levels must have been high.
Even more amazing are the residents themselves
on Level 2, who look out for each other and show compassion and support by encouraging each other to participate in the activities and try and communicate with each other.


On activity days, the residents are keen to participate and nothing can beat song, dance (for some!) and music not to mention art or flower decoration. On the whole, the atmosphere is a happy one.
