Galsworthy House Nursing Home in Kingston Upon Thames provides the highest standards of residential, nursing and dementia care, including trial stays, short stays, convalescent care and permanent care for individuals or couples.

The stunning period property was formerly home to Sir John Galsworthy, the novelist and playwright who is most notably remembered for The Forsyte Saga, who the home is named for. The beautifully appointed bedrooms and elegant day rooms contribute to the distinctive atmosphere in the home. The home has a prime position on Kingston Hill, where it enjoys wonderful views over Richmond Park, the largest Royal Park in London and home to various wild birds and animals including deer which can very often be seen walking around and being admired by the residents.

There are a variety of activities on a daily basis designed to keep residents mentally, physically and socially active so they can get involved in as much or as little as they like. The team love learning as much as they can about the residents so that their time is tailored to their individual needs and interests.

Dad lived at Galsworthy for a few years, over time his dementia got worse, but the staff always treated him with dignity and patience. Galsworthy is a beautiful building with loads of nice features and a big garden. Visiting was very difficult with Covid but the staff and management made sure that Mum
was with him as much as possible in the last few weeks. They even allowed the priest to come which was very important to my parents. Mum said that if she needs to go to a care home she wants to be at Galsworthy.

Mum moved to Galsworthy in November 2021. She wasn't keen on moving to a nursing home but was no longer able to manage at home. Galsworthy has been wonderful in helping to facilitate her move there from the hospital and providing a warm, caring and stimulating environment which has helped her settle
in well and much more rapidly than any of us imagined.
The house and gardens are lovely and her room is bright and relatively spacious. The communal areas are welcoming, fresh and very clean and the facilities are excellent. The best thing however is the very caring team - she really appreciates how kind the nurses and carers are. There is a fantastic, varied programme of activities (sadly recently disrupted due to Covid restrictions). The activities coordinator is wonderful - she encourages people to attend and make friends but if they can't or don't want to she provides support in their rooms. The management team work hard to create a special, caring environment and people are treated as individuals.

I am very pleased with all aspects of Galsworthy House. My mother had a respite stay on the ground floor and was very content. We will be using the home again in the future. The staff were very caring and did their best to help her settle in and maintain her regular routine.

Very happy with the care they are providing for my dad. Whenever I get chance to visit him he seems very happy and upbeat. Good quality assisted facility and staffing. The staff keeps me informed and it has been very easy to work with the new manager. Keep up the good work.

My mother has been very well cared for at Galsworthy. She has been here for nearly 5 years and in that time I have felt confident that her welfare has been very well provided for. It is a clean and well run nursing home and I'm very happy that she is receiving the care she needs. It has given us as
a family great reassurance as she is very vulnerable and frail.

Mum, who has end-stage dementia and is unable to communicate or do anything independently, seems very well cared for. She is calm, peaceful, clean and her skin moistured, her hair brushed. She has survived longer than we thought she would due to her expect feeding. I don't worry about her, and the staff

Very good staff who have looked after Mother in difficult and challenging situations. Mother has Alzheimer's. Some excellent hep in getting Mother to hospital to have x-ray after fall (fracture). The staff have also been a great help to myself as it has been very difficult watching my mother deteriorate
with Alzheimer's.

Galsworthy House is a beautiful period property overlooking Richmond Park. I viewed the home and was greeted by a very well informed gentleman, customer services manager and a kind and helpful Receptionist. After a good look around I chose a room for my Sister. On moving in for our respite stay, I
was greeted very warmly. The senior team took time to ask me and my sister what her needs were. We met the new Manager and a very experienced Deputy. My sister received excellent care during her stay. I would recommend Galsworthy House.

Following insertion of a pacemaker, I was told I must not use my arm for six weeks. My husband and I are in our late 80's. I am his carer and accustomed to doing everything at home. Knowing I might use the arm inadvertently I decided we should both go for some convalescent care for the first few days.
I found Galsworthy House on the web and was excited about it as they were able to take us both together and everything has come right up to our expectations and hopes.


The care, friendliness and personal attention from everyone have been exceptional, the room and cooking are excellent and the house and grounds are lovely. The library is a marvellous facility.

My mother has been at Galsworthy House for c. 3 years and is very happy there. Probably the most positive characteristic is the warmth and friendliness of all the staff, and the caring atmosphere they and the management create. The food is also well above the standard one would expect in an institution
of this sort. The home is based in an historic building with lots of character, and recent refurbishment work has enhanced further the surroundings and facilities.


From a personal point of view, I find I am always made welcome when I visit and feel my mother is happy and well looked-after. On the odd occasion I have expressed any concern or asked for something to be done, it has always been taken seriously and dealt with.


I would be very happy to recommend Galsworthy House.

Galsworthy House has wonderful staff who are always helpful, kind and caring. This applies to the carers, who interact with and really do care for the patient, and the management team who go to great lengths to ensure both patient and relatives are happy with the service provided.
My husband settled
in extremely quickly and, despite his dementia, seems very happy and comfortable with everything being done for him. As he has other medical problems it is comforting to know that the nursing staff keep a close eye on these and react promptly if a situation changes.
The food is tasty and plentiful and my husband is kept scrupulously clean throughout the day and night.
The ethos here is 'patient led', which means the care staff react to the patient's needs and don't insist on things being done to a rigid timetable. Visitors are always welcome at any time, which is most reassuring.

Lovely experience visiting this care home. I've been looking after my client here for 4 years. Staff are brilliant, well trained and thorough. Even with change, refurbishment etc it's a lovely place to be and for those who come in for respite, it is a home away from home.

I had a wonderful stay at Galsworthy House for 10 days to recuperate after pneumonia before going home. I thank the staff for their great care, kindness in every respect. There is a few staff, in particular, I would like to mention but the other staff were wonderful as well!

Mum arrived here in October 2016. She came straight from hospital and was in a very bad way. Almost comatosed, not walking, needing a hoist, not eating etc. She is now very well. The best she has been for over a year. The staff have been so good to her, getting her back on her feet and making her happy.
They have sorted her medication and she is eating so well. Thanks to the Manager who works so hard and all the staff on the first floor.
