Harts House has well-trained, experienced staff who strive to provide a high standard of nursing, residential and dementia care.

They’re here when you and your loved ones need them most. For planned respite or last-minute trips. A safe space to recover after an operation, to experience what their home’s like before moving long-term, or to simply relax. Whatever the reason, their doors are open.

The home provides accommodation designed with comfort and relaxation in mind. Pleasing interior aesthetics including an art deco fireplace, an opulent main lounge and French windows can be enjoyed as well spacious en-suite bedrooms, each offering views of the landscaped gardens.

The home’s in-house chefs create well-crafted menus made with the freshest ingredients and try to cater for all ethnicity groups. Soon after a resident arrives at Harts House, staff discuss their personal preferences and dietary needs with them. Residents can enjoy sociable mealtimes in one of the dining rooms, or in the privacy of one’s own bedroom. The home provides nutritionally balanced meals for residents and always offers both a cold and hot option at each mealtime.

There is a real sense of community at Harts House. They offer a seven-day holistic weekly activities programme that incorporates creative, social, physical, musical, animal and recreational activities. There is always something going on, from monthly trips, themed events, seasonal parties, weekly ‘stay and play’ with the neighbouring pre-school to personalised one-to-ones for residents if they prefer.

My mother has been in the care home for over two years with severe dementia. When she first arrived, the staff and all of the senior managers had a no care attitude, in fact, the care home was beyond disgusting. Since Bupa appointed a new manager and deputy manager just over one year ago, the home is
now amazing. The care has improved beyond all recognition and staff, at all levels, are much happier. Thank you Bupa for being able to bring Harts House Care Home up to a very high standard with the appointment of the new senior staff.

My mum spent her last few weeks here at Harts House. I am so grateful for all the fantastic care and attention she received here. From the cleaners, to the carers, to the nurses, everyone was so kind, thoughtful and hardworking. Mum's room was lovely, and kept very clean. Even though she was extremely
ill, the nurses put a smile on her face and made sure that she had everything she needed for comfort and to keep her spirits up.
The atmosphere in general was friendly and warm, which helped me overcome the deep sadness I felt with my Mum's decline. To me this shows that the staff are extremely sensitive to families' emotional states.
Having experienced other care homes, Harts House is a cut above the rest. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who needs to receive care.

Granny looked well looked after and in good spirits when we visited. The staff were friendly and made time to interact with residents. The management was also attentive and listened to our opinions and suggestions. I was very pleased.

My nan was admitted a few weeks ago and the welcome we received was so amazing. The manager met us at reception and made us feel at home from the minute we stepped in. She escorted us to Nan’s room which was clean, neat, and inviting. All the staff are helpful and kind. I can see Nan is happy.

What has happened to the entertainment team?
It was brilliant with lots of singers and residents interacting. Now two of the team have gone and that is a real loss. They were the backbone of the team and it was run efficiently and packed with things to do for the residents.
Now it is boring with residents
saying there is nothing for them in the lounge. Huge loss losing two key members who treated staff with kindness, respect and were committed.

We have been really pleased with the quality of care. All the staff are kind, compassionate and skilled. They have worked tirelessly to make Mum feel safe, settled and valued.

I am so pleased with the care my mum has received at Harts House, both physical and emotional. The staff, including the new management team, are kind and thoughtful and are always looking at different ways to make my mum feel settled and at home. The entertainment team are brilliant and works really
hard to keep the residents busy. My family has just received the most amazing support from the manager regarding an issue that was causing Mum huge distress. We are truly grateful for this. Mum chose this home and she certainly chose well. A big thank you to all the staff.

I would like to thank Harts House for the kind and considerate care the staff always showed our family. My father was a resident at Harts House for a long time, and I always felt that he was comfortable and in safe hands. His condition naturally deteriorated very slowly during his time there, and Harts
House had all the knowledge and services available to help him and the family right to the end.
The staff who oversaw his care were just excellent. They work long hours, and yet they always have time to answer our questions and make us a cup of tea! They especially looked after my mother, who visited daily, sometimes twice a day and their kindness towards her was exceptional.
Thank you all for being there for our parents, it was hard for them to be apart after 62 years of marriage together and it is never an easy time for the resident and their family.
I am very grateful to you all for your professional help and compassion and for all you did for our family.

There is not enough dementia care specialist staff. Residents are left wandering. Night staff keep using incontinence pads on resident at bedtime when not needed - causing urine infections. Some staff are genuinely caring which adds reassurance of good care - need more staff like this. Meals are amazing
and great grounds and buildings giving a good outlook for all to enjoy.

I moved my mum from Harts after her being a resident there for a year. In this time she was attacked a number of times by another resident and the management decided it would be best to move my mum to another floor rather than move the other resident. I found the management very poor and slow to act
when I had concerns. The care staff tried their best in difficult circumstances however I felt that they were quite disillusioned and burnt out. On the dementia floor residents were more often than not left to eat without any supervision and as a result, another relative and myself felt the need to be there to help almost every day while they were eating.
The common area on this floor was very uninspiring and I had a number of meetings with management to talk over ideas to improve things however in our time there nothing was ever implemented.
I made a formal complaint to Bupa who decided it was ok for the manager of the home to respond and Bupa themselves never got back to me.

My father passed away at the end of April after being at Harts House for one year on palliative care. We had a very difficult few months which was made easier by all staff at Harts going out of their way to allow us to visit as much as possible during Covid to improve my dad's quality of life. They
recognised that he was bed-bound and struggling and that family visits were crucial to his well being. During my many visits, the level of care and compassion shown from the wonderful staff on the Nursing/Dementia Unit to my father was outstanding. I witnessed that people were treated with absolute dignity. During the last few difficult weeks of my father's life, medication was put in place and information freely given. We were able to be there when he passed away. So, to all the staff at Harts and particularly the wonderful Carers and Nurses and all on the Unit, I hope you realise what a huge impact your care and kindness has on the most vulnerable and their families - thank you.

My husband was moved to Harts House Care Home to receive palliative care after a stay in hospital. Whilst the staff at Harts House were very caring and extremely professional. I didn't feel the backup from the Community Palliative Care team was that easily accessible. When they did visit they were excellent
and the nursing staff at Harts were able to set up the appropriate equipment and my husband died peacefully.
Naturally, it was a stressful time but knowing Harts House were trying to do all they could to make sure both patient and relatives were informed and comfortable throughout made the situation easier and I can't thank them enough.

Moving to Harts House this year was a huge upheaval in my life. My husband's death after a long and exhausting illness followed by two years of virtual isolation had undermined my own health and self-confidence.
The decision to move into Harts House was made after a good deal of research and discussion
with my family, who wanted me to live nearer to them. Once the details had been finalised, I would be moving from a retirement flat to Harts House, with a mixture of trepidation and hope. When we arrived, we were greeted by a group of smiling, friendly staff. The atmosphere was relaxed and informal, and we were made to feel welcome.
Introduced to my room, I immediately fell in love with the views from two large windows, which looked out over lawns and trees. Regular visits from birds, squirrels, a fox family and, amazingly, deer from the nearby forest added an extra dimension. I was less enthusiastic about the room, which was strictly functional. However, I have been able to personalise it, and it has become my home from home. Over time, my general health has improved as I eat properly and enjoy activities and gentle exercise. I have made new friends and acquaintances and am gradually returning to my old self, sociable, cheerful and too chatty.

Mum moved into Harts House in April 2021 after leaving the hospital with a broken hip and I have been very happy with the care she has received so far. The staff are very competent but also lovely and compassionate with my mum. This includes the admin staff too, who Mum frequently interrupts if she
feels like a chat! She has quite advanced dementia but is very mobile and quite restless which presents a number of challenges which I feel the carers deal with very well and always deal with her with kindness and a great sense of humour which Mum enjoys. The home is nice and spacious, welcoming and well run. While good attention is paid to Covid protocols, visiting is encouraged and well managed, and recognised as important to the mental health of the residents. The food is very good, with a varied and well-balanced menu and Mum's diabetes is well catered for. I feel mum is being very well cared for in Harts House and would recommend.

My mother lived at Harts for 2 years. She enjoyed daily activities organised by the entertainment team and external entertainers. She was thrilled when baby goats visited and children from the local school came to sing Christmas Carols. My mother quickly became fond of the staff and referred to them
as her “good friends” and they called her “mama”. The staff listened to her stories and played her favourite songs. They worked hard to ensure she was comfortable and communicated to her family on how she spent her day. During the pandemic and with daily challenges the Harts team's commitment to caring for my mother was relentless. The staff gave comfort and reassurance during difficult times and on other days we engaged in laughter.
