I have found Heatherbrook to be an excellent care home. The staff and management are friendly and efficient. The home is very clean and well presented. My mother has only been there a few months and is very happy there. I would highly recommend Heatherbrook to anybody.

My husband was at Heatherbrook on respite, and I am very happy with the staff and the level of care he received. All staff are so friendly and helpful. My husband will be returning in March next year, hopefully, for more respite.

Although Mum was only at the home for a few weeks, she was very well cared for. All the nurses were very caring and professional. During Mums stay, the home was in lockdown, so we could not visit. We were regularly called and given an update on how she was doing. The home also arranged a video call.
Management was extremely supportive and helpful throughout Mums time at the home.

My brother stayed in Heatherbrook care home since April 2020. The care he was given was excellent. All the staff at the home were very professional, caring and world-class! The home manager and the activities staff were exceptional as they were very kind, nice, understanding and helpful in arranging

My mother has resided at Heatherbrook for several years and is very happy there. Many of the staff have been there for a long time and they really do care about her. The recent precautions under lockdown have safeguarded her and the other residents and we have been able to phone Mum every day. On the
whole, we are very happy with the home.

Our relative was looked after extremely well whilst she stayed at this home. We made friends here rather than being treated as just visitors. Staff went above and beyond to provide afternoon tea for our relative and 12-guests, for her birthday giving us all some happy memories. When our relative became
ill and was close to passing, she was treated with the utmost care and dignity, and staff supported us phenomenally during this difficult time.
Often recommend this home.

I went to Heatherbrook with my good friend who's mum was living there. I was really impressed by the warm welcome by the receptionist. The carers and nurses were very helpful. All alone, I was touched by their caring attention and believe I should inform anybody who is thinking to have their loved ones
moved to a care home; the Heatherbrook should be on their list.

My mum became a resident at Heatherbrook at the age of 95, she had previously resided in another home but they could no longer meet her needs. The staff at Heatherbrook were so calm, friendly and professional and they made what could have been such a difficult time so much easier for both my mum and
myself. The care she received at Heatherbrook was exceptional.
All the Heatherbrook staff, from every department, are caring and professional. They treat their residents with respect, compassion and kindness and go out of their way to ensure they are happy. Heatherbrook has a lovely homely feel, the staff are like a family and they treat their residents and their resident's relatives as part of that family.
I visited my mum often and always felt welcome and included in my mother's care. Any questions or concerns I had were addressed quickly with care and consideration and always to my satisfaction.
I would highly recommend Heatherbrook to anyone.

I have for many years worked for the NHS myself as a community nurse and have visited many care homes. I have to say Heatherbrook care home I count as one of the best. Its present manager is so professional and approachable, also the entire staff are so caring and understanding and treat each resident

My dear mum is living with dementia and for the last couple of years Heatherbrook has been her home. She is very calm, contented and happy and this is due to the wonderful care and love she receives.
The staff and carers are so very dedicated and really do give 100% to looking after Mum. They are
extended family to her and us and we are forever thankful for all that they do.

My dad has been at Heatherbrook for around 18 months and we were impressed from the start by the care and kindness of the staff. The home has improved even more since the change of ownership and we are very encouraged by the owner’s commitment to make further enhancements. The staff take time to get
to know the families and the care feels personal. The home is a welcoming place for families visiting and residents are very well looked after. All meals are cooked freshly on the premises each day by the chefs, there is plenty of it and it is of an excellent standard.

I feel that this home is very good in my opinion. Staff are absolutely fantastic with the residents. Food and drinks are on point, they really do get lovely food throughout the day. All communal areas are kept lovely and clean and nicely painted. They also have a lovely garden where residents can sit
out and enjoy. I would highly recommend this home to people.

Since the appointment of the current manager, there has been a noticeable improvement in the communication ie notices/Information boards/quality of staff/supervision of staff and care of residents. Staff who were inadequate have now left or been removed. Activities for residents all seem to have increased
and the fabric of the building has also improved by painting, hair salon improvements and new furniture. However, there still needs to be more monitoring of patients when feeding and more staff are needed for this. Some residents struggle for some time before being assisted and some nearly fall before staff assist in the dining room.

Thank you for your feedback, and I’m very happy to hear your positive comments about the recent improvements in the home, particularly around the team and care of residents, as well as the activities and new facilities which all residents now enjoy. In regards to meal times, this is an area we had already identified as needing attention, and I’m very pleased to say that we’ve already been able to make great improvements. For example, we have now introduced ‘protected’ meal times, where all colleagues in the home will be joining residents to provide support, without exception. Lifestyle coordinators have had training to develop their roles to include the serving of meals, and all other team members will be on hand to assist residents who require it. I’m also very proud to say that Heatherbrook, along with other Care UK homes, participate in Care UK’s ‘dining with dignity’ approach – this includes specialist crockery and utensils to enable residents living with dementia or with physical impairments to eat independently, as well as specialist technology to allow residents with difficulty swallowing to enjoy the same meals and choice as all other residents in the same visually appealing way. My family have been at Heatherbrook for over 14 years. It's an amazing place. The staff are fabulous and residents become part of the 'Heatherbrook' family. I was nervous at first and had that guilty pang when you place a relative in someone else's care. Heatherbrook not only looked after my family,
they looked after me too. Staff really do care. They try to make life still be comfortable and as homely as possible. The Heatherbrook staff are angels placed on earth. Thank you all!

The kids always say "It smells nice" and want to come and visit with me. The home is always clean. The food is lovely. Any event is celebrated to involve the residents in "real life". My mother receives excellent care and support from all the staff at Heatherbrook, including laundry, cleaning maintenance, administration, care staff, nurses and management. She is treated with dignity and kindness by all. She has a nice room that has recently been redecorated. The home is always nice
and warm in winter. The quality of the food is excellent with a varied daily menu supplemented with tea and coffee etc. During the day, the daily activities programme encourages residents to participate and you can see them enjoy doing so.

Both my parents, have been residents at Heatherbrook (Romford) since July 2015, the home is not perfect (I truly believe there is not a perfect care home in existence), but the staff who work the units, especially Hylands, domestic and kitchen staff are amazing and really deserve some recognition.


Sadly

on 13th December 2016, my father passed away, if it wasn't for the staff at Heatherbrook I really don't know how I would have got through the last few weeks of my father's life. The dignity, love, compassion they showed not only my father but the whole family has been unbelievable. Little things they did during my father's time at Heatherbrook gave me and my brother great comfort that we chose the right care home for him, staff would kiss him goodnight, sing his favourite song to him and say our family goodnight saying each night.


Heatherbrook has become an extension of my family.
