In the experience of those members of our family who were able to visit our Mum, it made us realise we had definitely picked the best care home for her needs. The staff could not have been more caring and attentive, not only to her but also to my sister and me at our moment of need, particularly, the

My mum has been in The Hornchurch Care Home for a few years, and I cannot thank the staff enough for everything they have done for my mum. She has been cared for, loved and thoroughly looked after all the time. My mum has been in another couple of care homes which we weren't happy with, and now we are
so happy we have chosen this one. Thank you to all the staff that look after my mum.

I have been a resident for 9-months now during the whole Covid lockdown. Activities and visiting have been virtually nil as expected. However, my stay has been comfortable, and I have been well looked after. The staff are generally excellent, in particular, the nurse
on my floor and two of the carers,
one of which is also a trained hairdresser, which is very handy.

Mum had been in Hornchurch Care Home (HCH) just over 18 months. What started out good, faded over time. We moved my mum to another room through the noise. She constantly complained about the infestation of mice and at one time she had 3 mouse traps in her room. Main issues are the lack of communication
between managers and next of kin. We wished to transfer her to a home out of the borough for her improved wellbeing, which required a clear Covid test completed before she was allowed to transfer. Unfortunately, the test did not come back clear until the Saturday. We were told the test result over the phone, so in the morning arrangements were made to transfer my mum to the new home. When we got to the home they would not admit her as HCH had not sent the proof via email, and she could not be admitted. The staff tried to contact the managers urgently at HCH but, as expected no answer. My mum sat outside in the cold for over an hour and a half due to HCH managers lack of communication.

Thank you for the review, this feedback is allowing us to constantly analyse and improve our services. We wanted to respond to the important points you raise.
We were happy to move the Resident to a new room because the Resident’s family were unhappy with the carpet and wanted a room with patio doors.
There were never any traces of mice in the room, and we regularly monitored this, but we installed the extra bait box as a precautionary measure.
We were in regular communication with the Resident’s family, as we are with any Resident in our care, and had informed the Resident’s Next of Kin as soon as the result was picked up by staff at the home.
Though we informed the Resident’s Next of Kin that it would take time to prepare for the move, the transport arrived an hour after the result was passed on and before we had had time to make any preparations. We were only informed of the details of the new home in an urgent email on the day of the move, hence the unfortunate delay at the new care home.
It was a pleasure to care for this Resident and we were sad to see her go.

This was my first experience I have had of a care home for a close family member, my dear father.
I have the utmost admiration and respect for every member of staff I had the pleasure of meeting since my father entered the home in March 2019.
The standard of care my father received was second to
none. They made him feel like royalty, and we became part of a large family with the residents and relatives in the home.
I have no hesitation in recommending this home to anyone who would like their aged loved ones to be shown genuine love and kindness in their time of need.
My father passed away peacefully in his sleep in the middle of December 2019 and I wish to thank each and every member of staff for making this experience that sadly so many people face today, so much more bearable.

Thank you for the care you gave my dear father-in-law. This care home deserves to be recognised for their diligence, empathy, love and compassion they show to each resident they have. We could not have asked for more. Anyone out there who is looking for a home for their dear elderly parent or relative,
please be assured Hornchurch Care Home will take care of them as their own. My father-in-law passed away in his sleep after 8 months of care. All staff please accept our heartfelt thanks for all you do.

All the staff at The Hornchurch (whether management, nurses, carers, entertainment, catering, laundry or maintenance) are lovely and very kind, as well as professional. Nothing is ever too much trouble and they make everyone feel welcome. Whilst parts of the home could do with a fresh coat of paint,
we chose the home because of its lovely atmosphere. There are activities every day and special dates and festivals are always celebrated. I would recommend The Hornchurch to everyone requiring nursing home care.

The staff are very attentive and caring, they welcome visitors at all times without restriction and are willing to answer any questions. The home provides structure to my mother's life with a routine that also ensures that she is cared for and looked after to the best of their ability. Security in the
home is excellent and there are areas that you can use to provide variety of outlook both inside and out. There are always going to be the odd issue with full-time care, the home has listened to any concerns that we have raised.

Our mother has end-stage dementia and have severe care needs. We would just like to thank all the staff for the excellent care she receives. Our mother is always treated with dignity and a smiling face. Nothing is too much bother.
Our father visits daily. He is also made so welcome and the staff understand
his cognitive impairment and keep an eye on him. The activities team helped organise a brilliant celebration of their 60th anniversary and the manager is always very approachable and manages an excellent home.

My father-in-law was a resident for the last 7 years. Up until 2017, we had no serious issues as the home was run by another company. Then was taken over by another company and went downhill very fast. Management are unapproachable, ignore emails. Turnover of staff is massive with agency being used.
No continuity. My father-in-law hadn't been dead 12 hours and the nurse called and requested us to move the body. No empathy or compassion. Wouldn't recommend this home, no care at all.

Pervine Emery

As a Registered Nurse with over 30
years’ experience, Pervine has gained a
wealth of experience in providing care
and nursing support to elderly people, to
enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable
leader who is passionate about delivering
the highest standards in care and quality
of life for Residents.


Pervine closely shares HC-One’s vision
in aiming to provide the kindest care for
each and every Resident. She extends this
caring approach to her Colleagues and
works closely with them to deliver care
and support to Residents in a way that
they gain the most benefit, in a warm and
welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and
activities with nearby schools and clubs
and is always keen to include the local
community in life at The Hornchurch.
When asked what she enjoys most about
her role, Pervine remarked: “It means
the world to me to know I’m making a
difference in the lives of our Residents. It’s
always wonderful to see them with smiles
on their faces.”


Outside of work, Pervine enjoys spending
quality time with her family and friends.
She also remarks herself as an avid
shopper, as she enjoys shopping at her
local high street stores.
