Barchester Lynde House Care Home makes the most of pleasant grounds, located by the Thames and with wonderful views, and a versatile interior to provide top quality nursing and residential care, with professionals available round-the-clock and also skilled in care and support for physical disabilities and dementia.

A committed team work hard to ensure that all provision is tailored to the individual, while allowing them to make the most of a relaxed and homely atmosphere.

I was sent to Lynde House having been at the hospital (the tab is picked up by the hospital). I am a vegetarian hence the food comment; the food, varied. My experience at Lynde House was good, sometimes were short staffed which led to the red button not being answered promptly. I am 65 which meant that
the residents were a lot older.

Staffing of the home is planned well in advance and we have the advantage of not relying on temporary staff at all to provide nursing and personal care, I am therefore disappointed that you felt staffing levels have not been optimised. I monitor every call bell in the home daily and am sorry if you feel that you have had to wait for your bell to be answered. I have considered all aspects of your feedback and will share this with staff with the aim of trying to make further improvement. Thank you again.

The support system is good. Surprised no basic medicines for wounds/cuts etc kept eg no cotton wool. General feeling of care helps homeless.

Indeed we have several special kits available to staff for treating any cuts and wounds in the home (which includes antiseptic, plasters, tape, and cotton wool) which is frequently used. Treated with respect and tenderness, most of the staff stop to say a few words when they pass you. They ask after your family etc. Also if you want to be left alone to sleep etc they will leave you. The home and gardens are beautiful and are spotlessly clean and are never made to feel you are a nuisance.

My husband entered Lynde House in very poor health. Now six months on,
after being cared for by nurses and carers and eating good food he is now in very good health.
He has settled in and is contented with his daily life.

My husband was made to feel safe and well cared for, following a stay in hospital which had made it impossible for me to care for him at home. Throughout his stay, the care and reassurance he has been offered during the lockdown and the cheerful commitment of staff to the residents have helped so much
in making our enforced separation during lockdown bearable for both of us and the whole family. Access to the lovely garden and help with IT support to keep him connected with friends and family have been much appreciated. He is still not too keen on scrabble but the staff have done their utmost to keep residents entertained without the usual support network of outside help.
We both look forward to seeing more of one another and an opportunity for me to get to know the staff now that visiting is allowed again.

The management of Lynde House is first-class. The manager of the care home is a special manager. It's important to recognise the difference that individuals make and the senior staff at Lynde make a huge difference. I am sure that the company has very well designed procedures, systems and staff grades
in place - it always relies upon individuals to operate these in an efficient, and a human way. Barchester are lucky to have this home's manager and her team then.
The home has been safe, happy and caring during an extraordinarily testing period and I have been happy to have my mum in there. Lynde House provides the care you hope your mum would get. I am sure that the morale of staff and treatment of staff must play a pivotal role in all this.

My dad was sent to Barchester Lynde House by the NHS as he was in hospital at the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. During his time in the nursing home he has been so well looked after and will be sad to see him leave as I've not worried one bit as I know that he has been looked after so well. My dad has
been bed-bound and not been out of bed for 9months till he went to this home, I could go on and on and praise this home. From our family we thank you!

My mother has been at Lynde House for over 18 months now. During that time she has deteriorated considerably. I have been impressed with the way her needs have been met as this has been happening. The management team at Lynde is impressive. They have worked together so well during this very difficult
and demanding time. They have created a very strong team of people in every sector from the senior nurses, nurses, carers, hospitality, activity staff, kitchen staff and cleaners. The atmosphere has always been upbeat and positive in the past and I’m sure that has continued over the last few months. The residents are treated with dignity and respect and, in the case of my mother, with affection too. I’ve also been impressed with the way I’ve been treated. All my worries and concerns were listened to and taken seriously. When I needed help and support it was there for me. I’d have no hesitation in recommending Lynde House to anyone.

I live in Scotland so am unable to visit my mother, who has lived in Lynde House for three years, as frequently as I would like, and obviously during Lockdown not at all. It is therefore extremely important that I have confidence in the care my mother receives, and I have never had any concerns about
this, particularly as she has become more frail and needs help with all her daily care. During lockdown the staff have worked really hard to facilitate contact via Skype and to keep me informed of my mother's health. In 'normal' times I have been happy with the level of care my mother has received, including the excellent food, the large number of different activities, the pleasant environment and the commitment of the staff group. Sometimes in the past it has been difficult to maintain communication with the home, but this has definitely improved recently.

I cannot fault anything. Everybody "all staff" has been more than helpful. Nothing has been too much trouble. Must not forget paper person and cleaners. Re respite care. I was brought here from the hospital on April 5rth to recover from a broken ankle.

An outstanding care home, in my opinion, with wonderfully caring staff throughout, from ancillary staff to the Manager. My brother was very swiftly assessed in hospital and rapidly admitted to a lovely, bright room. The level of care he received in the last two weeks of his life was also outstanding.
The nursing and care staff were unfailingly kind and compassionate and always responsive to his needs. This kindness was also extended to his family by all the staff. We can not thank them enough. The menus offered were lovely and of high quality. The whole home is beautifully clean and well decorated with lovely grounds. To find such a home where all the staff demonstrate such a caring ethos is indeed unusual.

All the staff are friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. High level of nursing care accompanied by efficient personal care (important when you are no longer mobile), excellent home cooking (all meals freshly prepared) and regular live entertainment and activities. Clean, beautifully appointed, elegant home in tranquil surroundings, like a hotel! Staff are wonderful, caring, friendly and treat my mother with dignity and kindness. Only criticism is that sometimes it seems short-staffed considering the expense (hence lower value for money rating). Good range of
entertainment on offer too. But overall care is very good.

Alison

Alison McIntosh

Job Title: Senior General Manager

Joined: 2011

As the Registered Manager, I am responsible for the overall running of Lynde House and assisted in this by a great team of staff.


Although from Scotland, I have lived in Richmond for over 30 years. My career has been in two stages; hospital management where I spent almost 26 years working in acute hospitals including Kingston and the West Middlesex Hospitals and Care Home Management at Lynde House where I have been since 2011.


I have had a long interest and involvement in organising and providing services to older people and I have been fortunate enough to put my experience to good use at Lynde House where we continue to strive for improvement in everything we offer and provide for our residents. We consistently achieve great feedback from residents and relatives on the care and services offered, a significant aspect to this being our low staff turnover and the lovely environment both inside the home itself and the grounds in which it is situated.

Smita Patelia

Job Title: Deputy manager

Joined: 2014

Hello, my name is Smita and I am the Deputy Manager at Lynde House. I started my career at Lynde as a Registered Nurse back in 2014, I was promoted to Unit Manager and finally Deputy Manager. My role is to ensure that our residents receive the highest standard of care while taking a person-centred approach. I offer support and guidance to all Nurses and carers and work closely with external healthcare professionals. I am also the dementia Champion here at Lynde, I have a great passion for the welfare of the resident's mental health and have been the force behind the success of Namaste Therapy here at Lynde.”

Emma Li

Job Title: Unit Manager

Joined: 2009

Emma is a qualified Nurse/Unit manager here and has worked at Lynde House for 14 years. Emma was Barchester Nurse of the Year in 2016 and for good reason, as she is kind, compassionate and caring to say the least!


Ridel

Ridel Francisco

Job Title: Unit Manager

Joined: 2005

Ridel is a qualified nurse and has been a dedicated member of the Lynde House team since 2005. He was named as the Divisional Nurse of the Year in the 2018 Barchester Care Awards and more recently London Region Nurse Care Assessor of the Year at the Great British Care Awards.


Ridel is known to exercise his vocal cords with a bit of singing much to resident and staff delight!

Ken is our night manager so he is not seen too often during the working day. He is also our Learning and Development lead for our home.

Gitana Norvieseine

Job Title: Life Enrichment Coordinator

Joined: 2010

I have worked at Lynde House since 2010 when I started as a care assistant. In 2011 I was given the opportunity to lead the social activities programme in our home. Within my first year, I was honoured with being shortlisted at the National Barchester Awards in the category of Activities Coordinator of the Year and also won with my team of residents and local school pupils the "Barchester In Bloom best Flower display*.
Today I have a small team who work to ensure our social engagement programmes meet the desires and wishes of residents. I also coordinate the recruitment of volunteers to the home.


I successfully completed my Napa (National Association of Providers of Activities) qualification to level 3. Gitana and her team are excellent at planning and introducing new hobbies, activities and events for our residents to enjoy on a daily basis.

Cristo takes great pride in maintaining our beautiful home and ensuring it is the most comfortable environment for our residents. No job is too big or too small!

George has worked at Lynde for over 15 years. For most of this time, he was our Head of Maintenance but retired from this position in 2020. No sooner required but he was back helping us during the Pandemic with visiting supervision etc.


Recently George became one of the admin team working. In addition, He continues to assist in activities and his Thursday "Cuppa with George" remains a firm favourite with residents. George was recognised in the 2020 Great British Care Awards reaching the finals of the South Division for support worker of the year.

Nikasha works alongside Gitana our activities coordinator to provide the residents with fulfilling and enjoyable day-to-day activities. They work together to provide great live events and entertainment for both the residents and relatives to enjoy all through out the year.
