Having recently undergone an impressive £4 million refurbishment, Rowanweald looks as wonderful as it feels. But it’s the team, which includes highly skilled nurses, which make this home feel really special.

The team are dedicated to enriching the lives of their residents and their loved ones, who are embraced into life in the home and are welcome to visit at any time. They are passionate about residents having an active role to play in how their home is run and most importantly – having choice.

The home’s resident ambassador is proud of his role and does everything from welcoming new residents to the home and providing feedback to the team, to creating a special spot in the garden for his fellow residents.

There is always so much going on at the home, from gentle exercise sessions and arts and crafts, to gardening and music.

As part of not-for-profit Sanctuary Care’s extensive investment into the home, Rowanweald has a beautifully refurbished hair salon for weekly appointments with a mobile hairdresser. There is also a new café area, which is lovely spot to relax with loved ones.

The residents enjoy home-cooked food prepared by the chef in the dining rooms, with freshly baked biscuits and cakes for afternoon tea. And there are welcoming lounges to relax and enjoy activities.

In the centre of the home is an enclosed courtyard garden, with raised flower beds and seating, plus there is another side garden.

Situated close to a country park, Rowanweald overlooks the High Street of Harrow Weald and has ample parking.

I have lived here for over a year and enjoy the company of all my new friends and also the members of staff.
The home is secure and I feel happily relaxed and comfortable here.

Initially, I was very disappointed.
My room was not ready - no soap, towel, alarm or bin and no TV.
Plus a neighbouring patient was very noisy and I needed rest and comfort.
I was moved the next day into a much better room and I have been extremely happy.
The staff are, without exception, wonderfully
kind, considerate and patient.

From what I see, my husband is cared for with great understanding and respect. He enjoys the meals and appreciates the activities and was pleased to be included in a recent visit to a local school. We both enjoyed the 14th February lunch and the musical entertainment. They are all a very professional,
kind group of people with a different job to do.

Dad was at Rowanweald for 3 years. Being coeliac, the home was very helpful sorting his food. The staff were kind and caring not only with dad, but also made mum very welcome when she visited. Dad was very happy at the home and was treated with dignity to his end.

My friend has only just started at Rowanweald but I am very pleased she has settled so well.
I found all the staff warming towards her, from the receptionist, manager, nurses and catering staff. Good leadership.

All of the staff were kind and attentive. My uncle had lived alone for 50 years and so having people coming to his room threw him somewhat and he could seem quite tense at times. The staff were understanding and handled him well. Our family were very happy with his care and are grateful for their good
work including moving him to a better room when it became available.

Staff very pleasant and helpful. Have had three friends resident here, one was the first ever person to move in. All three are/were very difficult. The first lady told me how good the food was. Several of the staff have gone from the nursing home where my mother was and from the home where my friend
(no. 2) was originally.

My dad started living at Rowanweald in June 2016. The support and communication from all staff made the settling in easier both for him and his family. The atmosphere at the home is friendly, relaxed and caring, alongside being professional in the care my father receives. We were dreading Christmas
and dad not being with us as home, however, the build up to Christmas with the decorations, music, entertainers meant that we were able to enjoy his festive period with him in his 'new home'. We spent a very lovely enjoyable Christmas Day with him. A huge thanks to all the amazing staff.

When my mum stayed at this care home, the staff at Rowanweald were always very friendly, approachable and most importantly caring. The staff were always available to answer any questions. My mum always said herself she had no complaints about the carers they all treated her very well. The home organised
many different activities for the residents which my mum enjoyed.
