My mother was placed at this home on 19 March. I visited her on 5 April and was shocked to discover she had NOT been showered or bathed since admission! I immediately showered her myself and raised my concerns. Staff were defensive, with one saying "oh, but we asked if she wanted assistance". Assistance
to do what? Read a book? Make a cup of tea? I did not specify what type of assistance was offered and so my 92-year-old mother was left unwashed for over two weeks! Staff policy is, surely, to at least offer washing facilities. I'm very disappointed. This, coupled with the constant smell of urine in the house, the lack of staff (only a few good ones are there) and noticeable lack of cleanliness of glasses, means I will ensure my mother never returns. It seems Redbridge are closing the good homes and leaving these ones. There were a few good staff members who seemed to make Mum's time there "okayish", but I will not be returning her there anytime soon. Very disappointing.

Thank you for your review; we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. We are very sorry that your Mother’s experience was not what it should be. Following your concerns raised, the management team carried out a full investigation and relayed our findings to you via letter on 23 April 2018. Since that time we have continued to engage with our Residents to ensure we listen to their needs fully, and the staff team are receiving training and mentoring in their roles as carers to ensure they deliver the best possible care for all our Residents. Staffing levels in the home are continually monitored and reviewed and we increase the levels depending on the needs of our Residents. The cleanliness of the home is monitored closely and we endeavour to ensure it is kept clean and free from malodors at all times.

Care and attention to residents is very good. The food looks good and they get regular meals and snacks.
A couple of staff could show a bit more empathy but on the whole, very good.

My dad is in for respite care so his experience is different to others. He is getting regular physio sessions several times per week. The food is mediocre and not very nutritional.
The nurses and carers are helpful and attentive.

I'm so glad I went to the open day. It was such a lovely day. Staff are so lovely and friendly, everyone is so happy there. My aunty had a great time dancing and singing. The food was lovely and the wine was as well.

I am satisfied that Mum is getting very good care. Although she tends not to make a fuss I know she would tell me if she was not happy during her period of respite. I have been visiting most days over the past 3 weeks and have seen nothing to cause me concern about Mum's wellbeing. All staff I have
encountered have been caring and considerate. I would definitely recommend Seabrooke Manor to others in similar circumstances!

Seabrooke Manor Care Home has provided excellent care to my dad for over three years. The home itself is well run, clean and the food is good and varied and the gardener keeps the grounds lovely. The staff are exceptionally caring and all in all, this is a very nice nursing home where the staff understand
the resident's needs. My dad is aggressive and shouts a lot they deal with him calmly and professionally.

My dad was in another care home for approx 4 years, they found dad's Dementia very challenging and he was left mostly, days on end and very dirty due to incontinence as they said dad refused personal care.
Seabrooke Manor - When he arrived there they treated him respectfully and with kindness, humour
and in a friendly atmosphere. I never had to ask them to clean him, he was never dirty. They always talked to me about his care plan and treated me as kindly as they treated my dad. Thank you to the manager and her team, they are incredible.

Mum has been very well cared for and I cannot complain about anything. She will be coming back to stay for respite and I know she will look forward to seeing the friendly and caring staff again, also the friends she has made with the residents.

When my Aunty came into the home a couple of years back we were very glad.
The management and staff are the best I've seen and I've worked in care for over 20 years.
All the staff are polite, helpful and have can do attitudes.
Every time we came there was always tea and biscuits.
All the staff are
passionate about their work.

Current Review Score: 7.8 (7.769)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.8 (7.769) out of 10 for Seabrooke Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.0 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.727 for Seabrooke Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (9 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 11 Ratings = 4.727

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.042 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Seabrooke Manor Care Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 120 registered maximum number of service users is 24. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 24 = 0.042

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
