The Sidcup offers nursing and residential care, both long-term and short stay care.

The home is a purpose-built with modern comforts and conveniences. It prides itself on its warm and homely environment where residents can relax and feel safe inside the home and in the gardens. All bedrooms have en suite facilities and are furnished to a high standard.

The home consists of two floors, with dining rooms and lounges on each floor. The home also benefits from its own cinema lounge, large well- maintained gardens, its own hairdressing salon, and private lounge, ideal for family events and celebrations. The home has visiting professionals such as physiotherapists and chiropodists.

As an enhanced service to residents, weekly GP visits are conducted at The Sidcup Care Home, enabling residents to receive regular, personalised medical reviews as part of their approach to person-centred care.

At mealtimes a wide range of nutritious dishes are offered, always made with fresh ingredients. Residents’ dietary needs and personal preferences are always taken into account by the chef. The chef will visit residents to make tailored menus if necessary. There are regular tea rounds throughout the day with fresh cakes after lunch.

As well as regular, organised activities such as quizzes, bingo, film afternoons, board games and arts and crafts sessions, trips out to local places of interest, visiting entertainers and pantomimes, as well as tai chi and holistic massage and aromatherapy.

The staff are friendly and welcoming, whilst maintaining their professionalism. The home is clean and comfortable and the staff have time to talk to you.

My mother in law spent her last few weeks in this care home and we feel that she did not get the care an 87-year-old lady should have received. We understand that due to COVID restrictions this would make it harder to see her but when you are told that we would be able to be with her when the time came
it made it easier to except but this was not the case and she died on a Sunday afternoon all on her own. This is just not acceptable as we were not given the chance to say goodbye. When we were allowed to go and see her she was clearly left in her own mess as the smell was horrible and they came running to say they were just about to clean her again. This is not acceptable.

My father-in-law was only with you for a very short time, during which he was in isolation. The staff cared for him, washed, shaved him, ensured he was calm and facetime calls were arranged. The reception was bright and busy, ready for Christmas. Phones were answered quickly and helpfully. Thank you

I came into The Sidcup in August for respite. I like the home. I have a nice room, the food is good and all staff are very caring and friendly. I would like to become a permanent resident here if my wife can join me too.

From day one she was left all night unattended (not moved, should have been moved every couple of hours).
Day two medication pushed in her mouth without any attention to care.
A male healthcare assistant attempted to assist with washing her, without asking permission.
For two consecutive days told
the hoist was not working so unable to assist with the toilet.
On day one they couldn't be bothered to get a second hoist she was told to poo herself, eventually, after lots of emotional distress and tears, the additional hoist was available three hours later.
On day two she was told "I have just sat down and rolled his eyes in frustration".
Lots of distress caused and feeling of helplessness/uncaring attitude.
My mum has cried on numerous occasions and has often told me "this place will kill me mentally before the cancer kills her physically"
Communication and care are below standards. My mum is the youngest person here and lacks mobility.
She has been spoken to very disrespectfully on numerous occasions. Extremely poor care.

My cousin was admitted here from the hospital for end of life care. I was not informed he had arrived. Only two visitors once a week and had to be booked even for end of life. Covid testing through a window then waiting for thirty mins for results without any protection from our unpredictable weather.
The carpet smelt of urine on the first visit. His room was shabby, dirty carpet, torn net curtain, walls and paintwork chipped. Constant phone calls from them to ask if he had received the two covid jabs! Even though he was on end of life care and staff and visitors were tested! Managed to arrange for his wife to visit from another care home, there was nowhere for her to sit or seating offered.
Most of the nursing/care staff and reception were friendly, polite and helpful.
I would not recommend it here to friends or relatives.

Was told this care home provided excellent end of life care by hospice, so agreed to my husband being transferred there. Issues from the start, some resolved after settling in period. Three daytime staff were excellent but night staff, mostly agency, were not so good, uncaring and slow to respond when
the help buzzer was pressed. I appreciate it is a hard job to care for people on end of life care, but it is their choice to work there.

My mum stayed for a few weeks for palliative care. I found the staff to be very kind to my mum, and I felt that they cared. With restrictions of Covid, it did make the situation more difficult, but fee; she got the care she needed.

First time I have been into the rooms as my mother was admitted during the lockdown. The staff are all amazing, friendly and caring. However, I was very disappointed with the room. The carpet is threadbare, two drawers in the wardrobe are broken and unusable. The walls could do with a coat of paint.
The chair has seen much better days. Altogether, not a welcoming room, not very happy. Very disappointing.

I have been extremely happy with the care and respect that has been shown to my mum and me. Not being able to see my mum from September 2020 has been difficult for me, but FaceTime and calls that the home has set up have been wonderful. I cannot thank all the staff enough.

My mother is very happy at The Sidcup Care Home. She and I are treated with great kindness. Mum was rather confused recently, however, said: "can I stay here". As Mum is receiving palliative care, I am allowed to visit her in her room. Visiting the care home, I can see the distress to staff and residents
not being able to see family and friends. The staff are trying to compensate for the loss residents are feeling.

Our mum has very sadly just passed away. It’s such a hard, sad time for us all and it has been particularly hard through covid. We were kept up to date with Mums well being, and thank god were able to see her before she passed and I was actually with her. The staff were so lovely and caring and were
there for me at the time as well as looking after Mum for the last 18-months of her life. We popped into the home whenever we wanted before covid and always felt very welcome and involved. I am very pleased we chose the Sidcup for Mum, and we thank you all very much for Mum's care.
