Purley Gardens offers high-quality personalised residential, dementia and nursing care to those in the Purley, Surrey and South London areas. Respite care is also available whilst you recover after a hospital stay or just need a break from your everyday routine. The care home has 119 beds and on-site nursing facilities.

The home also welcomes couples.

The beautiful home sits away from the road and has excellent transport links to London, the south coast and the M25. The home is within easy reach of Whitgift Shopping Centre and Purley Downs Golf Course as well as a short drive to Croydon University Hospital. Purley Gardens provides its own hair salon, cafe and more!

The home has panoramic, landscaped gardens which are designed for wheelchair use, perfect for a gentle stroll and is pet friendly, so your four-legged friends can also move in.

Personalised care is given by a passionate and dedicated team of staff who ensure that all residents’ individual needs and requirements are met; whether that is arranging for your favourite meal to be cooked by the chef or arranging activities for you to enjoy.

Purley Gardens encourages residents to stay active, make new friends, nurture interests, learn new skills and pursue favourite hobbies. Their Activities Co-ordinator arranges a whole host of events, trips and onsite activities so there is always something to do.

Due to Coronavirus, it hasn't been possible to visit since March. All telephone calls made have been reassuring and I felt here that my sister-in-law was being well cared for. My visit today showed that more than adequate precautions were being taken to prevent any spread of this disease by allowing
outsiders back into the home.

My experience was very good regarding the hygiene measures taken and information is given before I was allowed to visit my cousin. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. My concerns were regarding her move to a different room as some of her belongings are still missing. The staff are trying to locate
them. The room was clean and tidy.

During this difficult time in the midst of Covid-19, I have been very impressed with the care my mother has had. I have also been given access to talk to my mother on Facetime and on a landline, over the last 3 months. Provision was made for a walk past and wave last month carefully socially distancing,
with care and attention in order to keep their mental wellbeing. Well done all the staff in Sunrise Senior Living.

I am writing this review as being the son of a resident at Sunrise Purley. Although I am making this review mainly about the care home during the current Covid-19 crisis, it should also be known how happy my family is with the care our Mother is getting.
Under normal circumstances, it was always a
pleasure to go to see Mum either in her room or anywhere in the home or garden. Without a doubt, the place is beautiful and extremely well run by all of the staff.
On Monday 20th July having booked with a member of staff, I was for the first time able to go to visit Mum in person. Not wishing to "mess things up" I arrived early and was greeted cheerfully by a lady who directed me through a thorough sanitary procedure before allowing me to visit Mum, stressing the need still for Social Distancing.
I was able to see Mum properly for the first time since March, and it was wonderful. Mum is 101 years old, and couldn't be in better hands. To all the staff, keep up the excellent work, and be safe.

Although it took my father some time to settle into his new environment (after nine years previously in a different home), he has now done so and seems very comfortable. Although he prefers to stay in his room he knows that whatever he needs is available.

The residents are really well looked after and cared for. The staff took the time to address the needs of my resident in care. The activities that the team put on were very entertaining and, very obviously, well planned. I haven’t seen my relative look so happy and contented. Keep up the good work,

At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, communication was clear and decisions were quickly made to ensure the safety of the community. As it became apparent that visits would be unsafe for some time, other options such as video calls, printing photos, letters and sharing videos were arranged. In accordance
with government guidelines, restrictions were gradually reduced. The staff were always helpful and some went out of their way to provide my mum with some normality in a very difficult situation.
Generally, due to distance, I can only see mum about once a month. Whenever I have visited she always has activities to do and good food to eat. She likes to point out that the staff are very kind and the place is ‘very clean’. More recently I have noticed an effort to provide chairs and sofas that can be cleaned more easily which is a positive change. Also, there seems to be a better system now for ensuring that mum wears her own clothes, glasses and her jewellery is safe.

All the staff at Sunrise Purley have been wonderful with my 93-year-old Mother. The care and service provided have always been amazing and I can't imagine my Mum being anywhere else. All throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, it is clear that all the staff have done a fantastic job of staying safe, keeping
the residents safe and maintaining exceptional care.

I have been very pleased with the level of service provided to residents. In particular, staff are very caring and treat residents with the respect and dignity they deserve.

I joined my husband for 2 weeks to help him settle in after being discharged after 10 weeks in hospital having had his left leg amputated. He is well cared for and generally satisfied, but is very bored because of his restricted life in a wheelchair, and find his inability to get out and about very
frustrating.

My Dad has been in Sunrise of Purley for about 6 months now. We had been caring for him at home but this was no longer possible after he suffered a stroke. He now has vascular dementia and is 92 years old. When he was first admitted he went to the standard centre on the first floor but after a further
assessment, we agreed he needed significant nursing care so he moved up to reminiscence on the second floor. The nurses there are extremely well trained and attentive and always ring me if there is a problem. The food, accommodation and standard of care are very high with plenty of staff always on hand to attend to his needs. Sunrise of Purley is not cheap - the fees are in the upper bracket - but you get what you pay for. If like me you want your elderly and infirm relatives to enjoy the highest possible standards of comfort and care in their final years then this is the place for you.

My only criticism was that the room wasn't completely ready, the TV remote needed new batteries, a drawer was stuck and a call button wasn't supplied initially.

I visited my friend on and off for the duration of her stay. On my first visit I was enormously impressed I felt I was entering a 5-star hotel. The staff and residents including my dear friend were all welcoming happy and delighted to be at Sunrise.
