Purley Gardens offers high-quality personalised residential, dementia and nursing care to those in the Purley, Surrey and South London areas. Respite care is also available whilst you recover after a hospital stay or just need a break from your everyday routine. The care home has 119 beds and on-site nursing facilities.

The home also welcomes couples.

The beautiful home sits away from the road and has excellent transport links to London, the south coast and the M25. The home is within easy reach of Whitgift Shopping Centre and Purley Downs Golf Course as well as a short drive to Croydon University Hospital. Purley Gardens provides its own hair salon, cafe and more!

The home has panoramic, landscaped gardens which are designed for wheelchair use, perfect for a gentle stroll and is pet friendly, so your four-legged friends can also move in.

Personalised care is given by a passionate and dedicated team of staff who ensure that all residents’ individual needs and requirements are met; whether that is arranging for your favourite meal to be cooked by the chef or arranging activities for you to enjoy.

Purley Gardens encourages residents to stay active, make new friends, nurture interests, learn new skills and pursue favourite hobbies. Their Activities Co-ordinator arranges a whole host of events, trips and onsite activities so there is always something to do.

Sunrise of Purley has given excellent care to my elderly aunt who joined the community in November 2016.


Her accommodation is clean and bright and the domestic staff keep the room spotless. The food is very good and there are many activities for her to engage with.
After a bout of extreme ill health

in the winter, my aunt required additional nursing and support and this has resulted in recovery - almost to her former fitness.


I am confident when I leave her that she is receiving the best possible care.

My dad loves living here. He enjoys his carers washing and dressing him in the mornings and getting him ready for bed in the evenings.
He loves all the activities going on, especially the trips out in the mini-bus and the musical entertainers. Being insulin dependent, his diet is crucial to his well-being.
The staff are gradually getting better at managing his diabetes. All of his carers tell me they love Dad. I am happy with Dad's care.

My father, unfortunately, has a terminal brain tumour and had to move into nursing care due to his increasing cognitive difficulties and physical deterioration. Dad is very young to have to move into the care home system having only just turned 70. Sunrise Purley has been fantastic with Dad and with
us. It's been a very difficult situation for us all to deal with and the staff have been so helpful and kind. They have gone the extra mile to help Dad settle in and also to understand that he is a much younger guest with a different set of needs to many of the other residents.
Nothing is too much to ask and all of the staff are lovely. The Sunrise set up is fantastic - Dad has a studio flat with kitchenette and large walk-in shower in the bathroom. There's lots of activities, lots of social areas and things to do, motivated and happy staff and he is encouraged to be as independent as he possibly can be.
I cannot recommend Sunrise high enough.

My mother has now been at Sunrise of Purley for four months and is settling in very well. The staff are excellent and very attentive. The building is kept in good order and pleasant to visit. I would not hesitate to recommend this nursing home in the future.

My mother is receiving excellent care. Her needs are met. She is helped with all eating, drinking and personal care. The staff are consistently caring and cheerful. Mum seems happy here.

Without respite care, my stepmother would have died at home.
Sunrise have managed her pain, treated her bed sores, cared 24/7 and restored her.
She has a healthy appetite, smiles and wants to stay permanently (which she is).

My parents have been residents for about 6 months and my father recently died. I cannot fault the end of life care that he received, or the care Sunrise showed to the rest of our family during a difficult time.

The nursing home needs more staff.
I go to visit my aunt every Sunday and every time she needs a carer/staff member (she is in a wheelchair), she is waiting too long.

My dear mum was a resident for ten months and all our family are very grateful to the staff for the excellent care that Mum received every day. The Sunrise has excellent facilities and offers a wide range of activities, as well as excellent meals and menu choices. We would like to thank all the staff
for their kindness, hard work, dedication and professionalism. Mum received wonderful help in a very caring environment.

The staff at Sunrise are lovely and very friendly. They desperately need more carers as they are short staffed. Some of the carers are more efficient that others, sometimes my mother has to wait a long time for a carer in the morning so is quite late for breakfast.
The dining room food is very erratic,
sometimes its good and other times it awful and not edible. One of the chefs needs more training.
The neck alarms are not much good when used and nobody comes.

Our biggest concern is that the management does not respond quickly enough to our emails regarding our concerns in regard to our mother and we always have to chase them on several occasions.

My mum has been a resident since May 2016 and she has been totally looked after and cared for. The building and facilities are excellent and the staff are very professional, very caring and genuinely have the interests of each resident at heart.


From the reception staff to all who interact with

you, to the nurses and cleaners, the staff that do personal care (nail care and hair), the catering staff and also the laundry lady. They are all just wonderful and I hope our children will put us at Sunrise Purley when we are old.
