Purley Gardens offers high-quality personalised residential, dementia and nursing care to those in the Purley, Surrey and South London areas. Respite care is also available whilst you recover after a hospital stay or just need a break from your everyday routine. The care home has 119 beds and on-site nursing facilities.

The home also welcomes couples.

The beautiful home sits away from the road and has excellent transport links to London, the south coast and the M25. The home is within easy reach of Whitgift Shopping Centre and Purley Downs Golf Course as well as a short drive to Croydon University Hospital. Purley Gardens provides its own hair salon, cafe and more!

The home has panoramic, landscaped gardens which are designed for wheelchair use, perfect for a gentle stroll and is pet friendly, so your four-legged friends can also move in.

Personalised care is given by a passionate and dedicated team of staff who ensure that all residents’ individual needs and requirements are met; whether that is arranging for your favourite meal to be cooked by the chef or arranging activities for you to enjoy.

Purley Gardens encourages residents to stay active, make new friends, nurture interests, learn new skills and pursue favourite hobbies. Their Activities Co-ordinator arranges a whole host of events, trips and onsite activities so there is always something to do.

My mother moved here last year and has settled very well. She has a nice room and was able to bring all her own furniture, pictures etc so that it feels familiar. She has Alzheimer's but is able to live normally here, as all the daily chores are done for her. She enjoys socialising in the Bistro with
her friends and loves going out on the minibus for trips. The driver is so friendly and caring to the residents, and takes them to different places for coffee at least twice a week.The family can visit at any time and even have meals with her if they want to. The food is excellent and a lot of activities are organised for those who want it. My mum has her hair done every week and her nails too if she wants (extra cost). I have found the staff, in general, to be helpful and caring, and we haven't had any reason to complain. I viewed a couple of other homes before choosing this one and as my mum seems very happy here, I know it was the right choice.

I feel very happy here. The activities provided are great and there is always something to do. I really enjoy the food and my family are able to join me for lunch or dinner. The staff are kind and caring, I don't worry about a thing. My room is very nice and I have a view of the garden. The housekeepers
keep everything spotless. I have lived here for nearly 2 years now and I am very happy.

We were very unsure that Sunrise of Purley was going to be better than being at home, but we couldn't have been more wrong! We have such fun every day and really enjoy living here, We have everything we need and more. We have made lots of friends and spend a lot of our day in the coffee shop chatting
and eating too much!
Amazing personalised service, the chef met with us and asked if there was anything, in particular, we would like to eat, we love Lamb shanks. Less than 24 hours later he came to our suite to inform us that lamb shank was on the menu for that day's lunch. I would recommend this home to anyone, truly is 6*. I and My wife are so happy.

Sunrise of Purley is a high-quality care home. The facilities and services are first class, but more important is the training and professionalism of all the staff ... from the leadership through to the reception and care staff, catering and cleaning crew.


It is clear the home takes the health and

wellbeing of all its residents very seriously, creating a secure, informal and friendly environment for all.


We found the attitude of Sunrise extremely helpful whilst we were deciding on which care home might be appropriate for our elderly Aunt. We decided to have a 'trial' period for respite care to see if our Aunt would benefit and be happy with the care and community this home provides. The senior managers were helpful in 'on boarding' her to make her feel welcome, and kept us fully informed through the trial period. Our Aunt had no hesitation in deciding to become a permanent resident.

I'm pleased that my friend is staying here, all carers seemed really nice and helpful. The dining area is very pleasant and a good choice of food and drinks. Lots of activities and entertainment, there's a nice place to sit and have a coffee for visitors. Overall a nice place.

Sunrise of Purley have supported me brilliantly from the first distressing dilemma I had of finding immediate respite/palliative care for my cousin who was elderly and suffering from terminal cancer. The deputy manager and all the care/nursing staff were so kind and supportive of my cousin's every need
and were consistently compassionate towards me throughout such a sad and stressful experience. Truly, I cannot recommend Sunrise of Purley enough as they could not have been a more comfortable and caring home for my cousin.

Sunrise has been excellent in the care for our mother. Mum has dementia and all staff have helped her settle following the recent death of our father. Mum regards everyone at Sunrise friends, she feels reassured and no longer suffers from stress; all her meals are prepared, her washing and ironing done,
no worry about cleaning or day-to-day chores. Sunrise a very caring home.

My mother has been a resident here in the Reminiscence unit since May. My mother is very happy here and regards it as her home now. We particularly like the fact that the staff make me welcome at meal times. I can share a meal with my mother as we have always done.
Shortly after my mother arrived
at Sunrise two cats Bob and Stan also arrived. They were a great addition to the Reminiscence family, and they gave my mother a lot of pleasure. Sadly they have now left Sunrise - I am not sure why.

My father has been in this care home for approximately 8 weeks now and I can honestly say that he couldn't be in better hands.


The staff are both caring and attentive and have treated Dad with extreme dignity throughout.


My father's care is under constant review and his every need is met on request.

would have no hesitation in recommending this home.

My mother is very happy in Sunrise of Purley. The staff are very kind and her room is very nice always kept clean, her washing done regularly. She has reached a 100 years and the home made a great day for her on her birthday. The management are always available to listen to any problems. He daily needs
are looked after. However it is very expensive approx £1500 a week considering she needs very little nursing care, is able to move around on her own, only needs assistance dressing and undressing. The downside of Sunrise of Purley is the great turn-over of staff, agency staff that appear to have no training!! and the fact that we as a family have to regularly chase the nursing staff for medications and ointments.

All the staff, carers, nurses, dining room, admin and cleaners were caring, patient, polite and very respectful of the residents dignity and wishes . I witnessed dining staff treating dementia residents with love, patience and respect. The activities are plentiful with something to suit all tastes every
day. The surroundings are beautiful and very well maintained. All the residents were treated as individuals with individual needs. The whole place has a welcoming and care atmosphere. The food is restaurant quality with good choices. I would recommend Sunrise whole heartedly.

A close friend of 40 years standing was taken into Mayday in September 2015.


He could no longer take care of himself and I was absolutely amazed when I visited Sunrise at Purley. I can only describe it as a five star hotel which was hosting a convention of very engaged over sixties.


A charming

young lady showed us the type of accommodation my friend could expect and liaised with Mayday to bring him to Purley when he no longer needed a hospital bed.


On his first evening I joined him and another friend who is resident in Sunrise for a very acceptable evening meal accompanied by some equally tempting wine. My friend and I dined out nearly every week and, for us, it was another convivial evening.


My friend became quite animated and the next day I discovered that he had attended breakfast, lunch and dinner at the communal, waitress served, tables. The following day I discovered that he had attended a 'tea dance' although he confessed that he did not dance. (I also discovered that he had had his hair cut and his nails manicured in-house for the occasion).


In the background my friend had some pretty unfortunate medical problems and the attention he received from his nursing staff and his carers was beyond criticism.


His room was homely and although his bed looked like a perfectly normal bed it had all the controls of a full hospital bed.


The entire facility and the staff were welcoming - to the extent that my wife has asked me to send her there if she ever has a problem.


All told a very good experience.

My Mum has been a resident for 6 months and in that time, she has become much more stable and I have noticed such an massive difference in her general mood and health. Sunrise are fantastic, especially the lady who organises lovely activities. My Mum has a better social life than me! The staff are caring
and understanding. I have no hesitation in recommending them as they understand Dementia and the care they provide is individually tailored to my Mum and what she enjoys. The food is fantastic and her bedroom is always spotless.
