The care home is one of the most welcoming and friendly homes I have ever been to.
The management style and flexibility between residents and staff is unique and can be seen how important it is in the daily well being of our elderly. Sceptical at first, I'm now convinced that the great character and
conduct by all staff including the care home manager has definitely made what people may assume a care home into an actual loving home. When asking residents of their feelings they were very happy with how routines are personalised and tailored to their needs.

My mother originally stayed in the rehab unit and we were very impressed with the overall standard, it was like being in a hotel. Very clean, staff friendly and helpful, lovely food, nothing a problem, so that when my mother needed residential care, we wanted her to go there as other care homes viewed
were unacceptable. The manager kindly went out of his way to accommodate my mother, even though we were informed by social services, no vacancies.

My father has been at Woodlands since July 2017 and to date, we have found the home to be extremely caring and thoughtful with regard to his daily needs and comfort. The surroundings of the home are very comfortable and bright, the food is well thought out and home cooked and very varied. There are
often outside entertainers who visit and put on a show for the residents to help them interact and stimulate them. Utmost the home genuinely care for the residents and treat them with dignity.

As I am a friend who visits twice a week I don't feel I can answer all the questions, but I have visited friends and family in different homes and I think Woodlands is the best and also the staff.

Woodlands Care Home provided the most wonderful care for my beloved Aunt, when she had dementia, from 2015 - 2017. From the very beginning, it was apparent that this care home really did care: the manager interviewed my Aunt and found out what she would need to make Woodlands feel like home and organised
a personalised care regime for her. She had her own things around her and access to a newspaper and the news, regular haircuts, singing and activities which she thoroughly enjoyed and most of all, caring and supportive staff who genuinely held her in their affection. The staff at Woodlands had been so hard working, kind and supportive, they were the natural choice when my father started to deteriorate rapidly last month. Again, the care has been excellent and the manager is always available to listen to feedback and answer queries and the office staff are incredibly supportive as well; which makes such a difference. I really can't thank them enough.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.085)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.085) out of 10 for Woodlands House Care & Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.899 for Woodlands House Care & Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (71 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 79 Ratings = 4.899

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.186 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodlands House Care & Nursing Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 14.4 = 0.486

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
