Woodland Hall is a purpose-built care home set in a leafy residential area in Greater London, providing tailored care and support for older people with a range of needs, including residential, nursing and dementia care on a permanent or respite basis.

The team is highly experienced in caring for people with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia, having undertaken specific dementia training developed by Care UK's in-house experts.

Residents are free to use the home's welcoming café, cinema room, sensory rooms, cosy lounges and dining rooms as they wish. Each bedroom has en-suite facilities, a 24-hour nurse call system and phone and TV connections. Many rooms also benefit from views of the lovely gardens and the woodland surrounding the home.

I found my one week experience at Woodland Hall beyond words. Comfortable and luxurious in a newly refurbished room that was beautifully planned. The staff were worth their weight in gold- all of them. They were always cheerful and offering help. A very polite, respectful bunch of individuals - beautiful
people. I could not be more happy with my treatment in Woodland Hall. Thank you for an unforgettable experience.

I cannot recommend highly enough the Woodland home. My mother went there in need of rehabilitation following two long spells in hospital and from day one the staff were incredibly supportive, thoughtful and caring. They helped to get my mum walking again with confidence and gave her, her self-belief
and dignity back. Thank you to everyone at Woodland for the first class care, love and support.

Dad was very happy during his time. Rooms are good. Staff friendly and food OK, although perhaps a bit spicy for an old man's (92) taste! The only downside was his discharge which was a shambles. We were told it was booked for 1.30pm. By 2.15 we asked, no information. Then transpired the home had only
phoned at 2.20 and no ambulance suitable. We were told a car was coming but very little info (from where, or by when) so at 3.30 we left in our own car. Two hours late and still no transport. A bad end to a good experience.

In regards to the transport at discharge, I’m very sorry to hear about the issues you had. The transport was fully booked in advance by the home for the times stated but is not run by the home, and we have no control over it. When the transport was late, we did contact them again and tried our best to help. In regards to food, all meals are made fresh in-house by the chef-led team, with plenty of choices every day and menus designed with the help and feedback of residents. If your father stays at Woodland Hall again, we will be more than happy to work with him to make sure meals are right for his tastes and include some of his favourites. Thank you again for your feedback, and please do let us know if we can help in the future.

I visited my friend almost daily at Woodland Hall for around 5 months. His room was always clean and neat. A lady cleaned his bathroom every day. My friend wore clean, new clothes every day. He was always clean and shaved. His hair was cut and his feet were looked after. He liked all the food and drink
and whenever he needed something he was given it. The staff were very polite, friendly and kind towards my friend and myself. He was treated with dignity.

The staff in the rehab unit go the extra mile and are very caring. There is flexibility over meals (they will make toast for instance if the patient fancies it). There is no pressure put on the patient, but they are encouraged to help themselves get better. Relatives and friends are made very welcome.
At the sign of any problems, the nursing staff are quick to act.

Thank you to all the excellent staff who looked after me for 44 days whilst I was in Hillside Unit Woodlands Hall rehab. The carers really put themselves out to ensure my happiness and well being. Since I can't name, I am emailing the home directly with those who went beyond normal service. The physios
did a fantastic job, so much so that at my hospital check-up this week, they were amazed at my progress. especially when I entered the home, I never believed I was going to walk again. Now, I'm home with crutches and able to go outside in dry weather. The chefs had the patience to help when I didn't like the menu, treating me like a customer in a restaurant rather than a patient. The cleaning staff were always friendly, and helpful. My Hillside Unit manager was very efficient and helpful as for were the nurses especially one person who was very friendly and always had a smile and time to talk to patients.

I visited my sister yesterday to take her out for lunch but in view of the weather, she preferred to stay in. While she had lunch, I took the opportunity to discuss a possible move with the manager.
She listened intensively and made a number of wise observations from her experience. It was a very useful
discussion. My sister has a very good carer who had changed her 3 times today through her incontinence. She is very patient and even loving.

My wife has been a permanent resident for three years. During this time I have been confident that she has been well looked after, both personally and medically. I have been kept informed of any changes in her condition and been able to discuss and agree to the action being taken.

Facilities are good for dementia patients, with small friendly lounges, ready access to toilets nearby and easy access to gardens and courtyard.
Staff are friendly and attentive but not obtrusive. Good to see regular staff faces who know who you are. My mother presently sleeps poorly at night and this

Every time I visit my mother, the staff are always welcoming, friendly and professional - from the carers, chef, nurse, activities staff, management and reception staff. Communication - mostly by email to the care home is answered promptly and efficiently - communication from nursing staff and carers
to the family is prompt and informative also. I would thoroughly recommend the home and so does my mother!

Since leaving admitted to Woodland Hall in 2013, my wife has received excellent and compassionate professional care from the staff. I have always been kept informed of her condition and also have a good relationship with the staff.
One criticism; recently the management have decided to move staff
to alternative wings. The has resulted in some long term nurses and carers becoming dissatisfied as they have built up a warm, compassionate affiliation with the residents in their care.

In regards to the care team moving to different suites in the home, as you may know, we’ve had lots of positive changes in the home in recent months, including the opening of our newly optimised suites and the recruitment of new colleagues. In order to ensure we have a good mix of experienced team members on hand alongside newer colleagues so they can learn procedures and get to know residents, we have rotated some nurses and carers across two suites. You should, of course, continue to see the team members you already know well around the home supporting newer colleagues, and we hope that, once everyone is fully inducted, that team members will be assigned more permanently to specific suites as before. Of course, all our team members are highly knowledgeable and experienced, but we do realise that it is beneficial to residents to have continuity of carers and nurses with whom they build strong relationships, and this is what we endeavour to provide. Thank you for bearing with us during this busy and exciting time for Woodland Hall, and please do let any of the senior team in the home know if you have any further comments or suggestions now or in the future.

Job Title: Home Manager

Welcome to Woodland Hall. My background is in nursing. I worked as a paramedic for the air ambulance for a long time and as a unit manager in a brain injury department. When I joined Care UK, I started out as a nurse assessor and clinical lead, before progressing to being a home manager.


I’m very proud to work for Care UK – it’s one of the leading providers of older people’s care in this country and it has great systems and clear values. It also supports its colleagues to do their best work and progress.


One of my favourite parts of my role is meeting with residents and their families and understanding their needs. I love seeing people flourishing with the person-centred care they receive from our fantastic team. Supporting them to live the life they want – that’s our ultimate goal at Care UK.


I’m personally passionate about ensuring every person we care for is happy, safe, understood and able to continue enjoying their relationships with their loved ones.


In my spare time, I like to unwind by watching movies and reading books. I’m from Romania originally and, when I can, I still like to travel and experience new places, people and cultures.
