Crossways was originally built as a private house but has been substantially extended and was refurbished in 2016.

There is a large lounge that has an adjacent quiet area and a second sitting room/dining room for residents, their families and friends to enjoy.

They use the smaller lounge for group interactive activities and it has direct access to the large, attractive, well-maintained and established garden. Here they have a gazebo and a covered patio for residents to enjoy when the sun is shining. There is often afternoon tea in the garden.

The gardens to the rear of Crossways overlook open countryside and there is ample car parking in the grounds.

Crossways Nursing Home offers its residents a safe and very caring environment. The staff is all extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble. They regularly go the extra mile for both residents and their visitors. The food provided was excellent and a good choice. My husband was here for 11 weeks
and received an extremely high level of care. I would not hesitate to recommend Crossways. Many thanks!

I like how I am looked after, the care staff are very good, and they treat me well. I have allocated carers who are excellent and they bring me hot drinks, cakes and what I like. I have lived here for two years. I have a nice room with a little fridge and a nice TV, and my room is clean. The staff assist
me to hospital when I need it, and give me my pills.

All the staff were polite, personal, caring, and confidential. I am very happy. They were respectful to my 'end of life' family member and extended this respect to myself and my wife. A very comfortable home with happy and great staff. Thank you.

Warm, calm, clean, friendly and welcoming home. All the staff were so kind and patient to my dad-in-law and family. I felt content with him being there. The staff were competent, all showed compassion and had excellent communication skills. All of them.
I can't thank them enough for their hard work
and compassion and for making Dad's end of life comfortable for him, his son and I.
Thank you so so much.

Not easy looking after dementia patients, but I can't fault my husband's treatment. I'm always kept informed of changes in him. Can't thank you all enough for caring for him. Thank you.

I was very apprehensive about using a nursing home, especially in the current circumstances with the Covid pandemic and the impact this has on all services. I was very impressed with the flexibility for my mother and myself to visit my father, particularly towards the end of life, where allowances were
made for those last three visits, which are so important and can not be done again. Everyone we met was kinds, professional and caring.

The care my mother received over the last twelve months is more than she could have wished for - excellent food, care and company. The staff were always so friendly towards us. We could not have given the same care as the care home. Mum always said she wished she felt better and could appreciate food
and care. The home and care had kept Mum going another year. Thank you.

All staff found to be kind and considerate to my 100-year-old plus aunt. Nice room, mice outlook over the garden, with an activities room, which guests and visitors would use. Visitors made welcome, and I could, until covid-19, visit any time I chose during the day. A possible drawback, my aunt's room
did not have an en-site facility.

My stepfather has been at Crossways Nursing Home for a period of years, having suffered a massive stroke that left him unable to speak or do anything for himself. I want to congratulate the staff for the wonderful way in which they have cared for my stepfather over the years. What's particularly prompted
me to write this review, is to note how fabulously the home has coped during this awful last 12 months of Covid. For the home to stay mostly Covid-free during that time, and to protect its vulnerable residents so well, must have taken enormous dedication and care by all the staff. Thank you - you are all wonderful!

My mother was at Crossways for 18 months, in that time she received a very high level of care.
All the staff were very friendly and very attentive.
The home itself was in a great position for access and also in a position which overlooked the countryside.
I believe she enjoyed her time there as she
seemed very happy.

In my experience, over the last year and a half, this nursing home has been excellent in caring for my mother. The staff are hard-working and always cheerful and friendly.
The home is clean and tidy and the food always looks really nice. A good varied menu on offer.
I would be very happy to recommend
this nursing home.

I have been a resident at Crossways Nursing Home since the end of January 2019 after hospitalisation and have found it a very pleasant experience. The matron and all the staff are very friendly, efficient and caring, nothing is ever too much trouble. Due to their care and attention, I am now much better.
The welcome for my visitors is also warm and there is a well-equipped activities room and a lovely garden where I have enjoyed sitting with my daughter during the recent sunny weather. I would highly recommend Crossways to anyone considering a care home for themselves or for a relative.

I like visiting here as there is a very homely atmosphere and as my husband cannot talk it is so nice that staff members often pop in and have a chat with me. I cannot fault his care and the staff are very kind to him. He seems very contented here and that gives me peace of mind and if I ask for something
to be done it is always done willingly and promptly.

Thank you. It was hard having our mom, gran, great grandmom go from being; active, driving and caring for others to having to be cared for so quickly. It is a scary process and hard to see your loved one on the rollercoaster of emotions and physically deteriorate. I had the pleasure of spending six
weeks daily with my mom and getting to know each and every staff member, night and day. The staff who are at this home are wonderful, you would not expect anything better. They treat each person as if it was their own family and loved one with dignity, respect, care, treatments and kindness. The manager and team are a role model for other homes and show what they do and it shows through their care. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.475)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.475) out of 10 for The Crossways Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.875 for The Crossways Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (63 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.875

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Crossways Nursing Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
