Overall, extremely pleased with our mother's care at Park House, especially as we, her family, can confirm she was not the easiest person to get on with; extremely fussy and independent, and ensured everyone knew she was around, but not easy to live with either due to her bossiness! (We would have liked
for her to have been persuaded to get out of bed, but knew she was in extreme pain, did not like the hoist, and she would scream, so not the staff's fault! Even if she could have sat on the edge of the bed, that would maybe have helped her mobility, but we understand her reluctance and would not blame the staff at all), so thanks for all that you did while she was with you; much appreciated.

We very much appreciate the feedback. Thank you for your positive comments. The hoist can be an issue for some, and not everyone takes to having to be hoisted, but it is the only safe way to transfer people. We liked your mum for her personality, and it was a pleasure to have looked after her.

I cannot fault Park House. My husband was there for nine months and was very happy there and settled. I also was very happy with his care. I knew he was safe and well looked after. They all are a wonderful, caring team.

Very well run with good staffing levels, nice rooms and excellent care - small enough to have a really personal touch but large enough to have good facilities and lots of expertise. Above all, however, the staff were so caring, loving and attentive - they cannot be faulted. In the time that Mum was
a resident, we always knew that she was safe, well cared for, and happy. The staff would chat to her, sing with her, hug her and laugh with her. What more could you ask for? Thank you, Park House Nursing Care Centre and your amazing staff for looking after Mum so well.

Park House is a very well run home, the rooms are good sizes and have a very homely feeling. Dad was in there for 6 months and the care he received was outstanding. The staff are friendly and will always help in any way they can. Staff keep the rooms and other areas very clean and there is always a
pleasant smell as you enter.


The manager was always there to talk to if we had questions and the nursing staff made sure dad was always comfortable. I cannot thank them enough for the level of care dad received, he was very happy there. I am so glad we have good memories of his last months. Thank you all.

The home always smelt clean and was tidy with nice facilities. Individual rooms were clean, spacious and laundry was efficient. Staff friendly and appear to be well trained. Adequate numbers on duty at every visit, no obvious time pressure. I have visited to see a staff member reading the newspaper
to my Mother. Local medical team available. Food is cooked on-site and was well presented and varied. It always smelt and looked appetising. Staff monitor and record what is consumed. Off menu meals prepared as needed to encourage residents to eat. Drinks and snacks are available all day. General atmosphere is very happy. It did not feel institutional. My mother who always had pets liked the home's dog and hens. Management is available to staff, residents and family over the phone and face to face to discuss care issues. My Mother did not want to go into a home but reported that the home was nice and the staff were pleasant. Well worth checking out. I have no concerns with CQC rating.

Park House was a very calm, friendly place for my husband to be in his last months. He was cared for with love, dignity and compassion. He made some lovely friends of staff and residents. Activities were stimulating and varied and as a relative I was treated politely, we both felt part of a family.
The bedding maybe could be replaced but everything else was truly amazing. I was informed of all that I needed to be regarding my husband.

I want to say a huge thank you to the owner, manager and all the staff for the care and support that was given to my Mum and the whole family. Mum spent 5 years at Park House where there was always a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. I always felt welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Mum enjoyed
watching the activities, even though she was unable to participate, celebrating birthdays and Christmas with everyone. Over the last few months of Mum's time at Park House, her care was the same high standard as always and her dignity was maintained to the end. While circumstances were difficult, due to COVID-19, I was consulted at every point with Mum's end of life care and although I was not able to be with her as much as I would have liked, I knew she was being looked after by the caring, compassionate staff, at all times. Park House has been a big part of my life and I shall miss all the residence and staff. Thank you so much for all that you have done for us.

Park House was my parents final, and fourth home - importantly, they regarded it as home, and we're happy. The staff were kind, caring and thoughtful, and always went the extra mile to ensure their happiness and comfort. They became an extended family and were loved by Mum and Dad. It was a comfort
to me, knowing they were always in good hands, and I am eternally grateful for the care they received. I cannot thank them enough.

Park House is a friendly and homely care home. Mum has always been looked after and cared for very well. She was always treated with respect and dignity. Staff were always helpful and polite. Nursing care was very good. We believed Mum always felt at home and safe in this environment. My only criticism
would be perhaps slight issues with staffing levels at weekends. This sometimes led to Mum not being washed or dressed before late morning.

I visited my friend many times from January until the middle of March and always found her very well looked after. Everywhere was nice and clean, the staff were always very friendly and helpful. It was always nice to be offered a cup of tea and cake! As I am not able to visit my friend at the moment
I do speak to her on a regular basis and always find her quite content to be where she is. The atmosphere in the home is good, everyone speaks to the visitors which is nice and I am looking forward to when the restrictions are lifted and I can visit my friend again. Thank you for taking good care of her.

Park House looked after our mother wonderfully well during her 13 months' residence. All the staff showed very high levels of compassion and competence. I particularly liked the fact that staff do not wear uniforms to engender a sense of family between staff and residents. Mum was genuinely happy at
Park House and I could not fault it. During the COVID-19 crisis of 2020, their procedures kept the virus out of the home and it was a great relief that mum passed away peacefully, in her own bed, merely of old age. The care home is exceptionally well run and is owned by a gentleman who truly cares - there is an ongoing programme of investment in the building and facilities.

My relative has had excellent care and attention during the 11 years of her stay.
The establishment is a real home from home, always welcoming relatives of the resident. At the end of life, the deceased and relatives were treated with dignity from the staff and genuine sorrow at her passing.

My partner went into care in March 2010 and died on 26 March 2017 with Altzheimer's. From the day he went into the home, he was loved and cared for, so he was very happy there and whatever he asked for, if it was possible for them, he had it.


They did all they could with true happiness for him and

the home and to the very last week he was very well cared for, as well as my family and his.

Park House made my stepdad feel loved and cared for, for the 7 years he was with them. He was very happy being there. Most of the team always played with him, joked and looked after him when he was having bad days. I think it is a lovely care home who have also cared with my Mum when she visited him
at the home, even after his death. They have been very kind.

Our relative chose to go into Park House and was very happy, saying "this is my home". She was there for just over 7 and a half years. As dementia took over, she could be very difficult at times but was always treated with great kindness and respect by all the staff. I never once heard anyone raise
their voice to her.
She was treated as an individual and the staff went out of their way to try and find out things that she liked and to make sure she was happy. Everyone knew her well, from the ladies in the kitchen to the manager and the owner and all would pop their head around the door to see if she was alright and have a quick chat - a real "home from home". Although everything possible was done to prevent falls, my relative's health problems meant she was more susceptible than many. If one happened, or she was unwell, I was always contacted and told how she was. When she died in December 2016 in Park House, it was very peaceful and a senior nurse was with her.

Donna is an experienced RGN. She has been the manager of Park House for 13 years and this consistency allows the home to thrive under her leadership.


An expert in managing your move into care, she is available anytime on the phone for guided tours of the home - just contact us.

Karen Darlington

Job Title: Lead Nurse

Joined: 2018

Karen is a registered nurse with many years of experience in various nursing roles. She has worked at Park House for over 5 years. She brings a wealth of experience to the home and as a lead nurse works closely with Donna the manager.


Andrea

Andrea Thorpe

Job Title: Lead Nurse

Joined: 2018

Andrea has worked as a registered nurse all her life since she first qualified in Scotland. She has held many senior positions in a variety of healthcare settings. She performs an important role as a support for our nursing and care staff and works closely with the manager.

John has owned and run care homes for 25 years. He has a wealth of experience in business and has invested in Park House as a priority taking it from a tired, out-of-date care home into an attractive asset which retains a homely feel whilst offering a high standard of accommodation and care.
