This well-equipped Tudor-style house provides a comfortable and relaxing environment. Residents can socialise in the main lounge or relax in the quiet lounge as they choose, while the spacious gardens and patio can be enjoyed in warmer weather. Most bedrooms have en-suite facilities and can be personalised to suit individual tastes.

Much culinary expertise has gone into making meals balanced and appealing, meeting personal diet needs and favourites. Hot and cold drinks are always available and homemade cake is another popular addition.

Themed monthly events are part of the varied activities calendar, which includes visits from local performers, pampering sessions and excursions.

My husband and I attended the opening of 'Jeans Room' on Friday the 14th of July. We were both very impressed with the Argyles, such a very friendly, warm environment for family and patients alike. We would not hesitate to recommend.

I can find no faults, all the staff work really well and really hard and they all seem to enjoy their work. The food is really good and so are the activities. The rooms are always clean and tidy.

Mum has been at the Argyles for just over a week and the care she has received has been exceptional. To see Mum so happy and settled has been so reassuring for my sister and me. She is smiling and again takes pride in her appearance. We felt so guilty about making the decision to move Mum to the home,
but it has been such a blessing. We no longer have to worry about her every move. We hear about the delicious meals daily, she especially enjoys her shandy and today she has been to church. We cannot thank you enough.

Entered mum on the 5th of May to join Argyles Care Home as she needed 24-hour care. I was so scared and unsure but within days the family and I knew we had made the right decision. She seems to be settling in ok and so well cared for. Thank you.

I called Argyles Nursing Home on the 1st of June and thought what a lovely home it was. It was spotlessly clean and the staff was so welcoming. I told them when my time comes I'll be there! My friend told me the food was good and her washing was perfect and so quick. So very well done to you all.

We visit our dad regularly and are always made to feel welcome, The staff seem to recognise us now and it feels nice to visit our dad. He is always well turned out and appears happy. We have been invited to a few social occasions which all the family try to attend. If Dad is at all unwell, we are notified
straight away. We would recommend this home to any friends and family.

My mum has been living at the Argyles Care Home for just over a year now since moving from a previous care home. Since she has been here she has made new friends and gained new interests and gets involved in any social aspect. The staff are extremely good with her and most importantly she is happy.
The Argyles Care Home put on a social event for the king's coronation which we attended as a family and the entertainment they put in was fantastic. This is a brilliant care home.

Settled my brother well and meets his needs. Help him to mobilise between physio visits. Staff are always cheerful and go overboard to meet his needs. The home is friendly and welcoming, and try to make it as homely as possible.

I am an RN of 38 years from Canada. My aunt has been in your care for over 5 years. I found my loved one to be clean, beautifully groomed, well fed and hydrated. It was obvious she was being turned and cleaned with excellent skin care. Her skin is perfectly intact with no sores. When the staff were
performing these duties they were kind, gentle and professional. Thank you so very much.

My wife has been a resident in Argyles for nearly six years with advanced dementia. She is unable to communicate and relies on the support of the staff for all her needs. But I know she is contented and being looked after really well. I know all the staff really care for her. The home is welcoming,
friendly and clean and the staff do a fantastic job. I cannot praise them enough.

My mum came to the Argyles for palliative/end-of-life care. The staff have all been wonderful, extremely caring and compassionate to Mum, but to my whole family. All the staff are angels and go above and beyond with their work, and they all deserve a pay rise.

Should anyone need a safe space for their loved ones in the future, I would highly recommend the Argyles Care Home - this home is run by angels, and in the 10 years my father has been there they have been considerate and caring in equal measures. Everyone we have met has normalised the horrific situation
we found ourselves in as an extended family. Dignified care following a diagnosis for a rare and debilitating disease, they have taken the strain. They are amazing people. Genuinely grateful.

My name is Jane and I am the home manager at Argyles.


I have been a qualified nurse since 1991, having trained at Warwick and Coventry in the late 80’s.


My career started in neuro-rehab and I worked at a hospital in Birmingham where I cared mostly for patients with MS, MND, MSA and post CVA.


Following my marriage to a ‘Southerner’ I moved to Newbury in Berkshire with the promise it would only be for ‘a year’. I have now lived in Newbury for 33 years!


I was unsure of where I wanted my career to take me so helped to commission a brand-new nursing home in Overton, Hampshire, where I was appointed deputy manager. I then moved to a smaller nursing home in Reading, where I could continue my neuro-rehab but with an elderly clientele.


Following the birth of my daughter Cassia, I decided to look for work around child care. I worked at a health spa as a nurse advisor at weekends and did bank work via an agency on night shifts.


Once my daughter was at school, I was able to return to my love of neuro-rehab and was offered the position of RN at Sandleford Hospital, which later became Donnington ward at
West Berks Community Hospital. I became a senior nurse on day shifts and loved working with the local GP team which covered the ward. So much so, that when I was offered a position at the GP surgery as a practice nurse, I jumped at the chance.


I spent 12 years at Eastfield House and had a very varied career during this time, whilst simultaneously continuing my education and completing a number of different health related diplomas.


Throughout my time at the surgery, my workload was mostly with the older population – an age group which I continued to love working with. When I saw a position advertised to give input at a nursing home as a clinical lead I was determined to go and provide the care I could in an area that I loved.


In 2020, I joined Bupa and the rest is history! I love working as part of a team and really like the collaborative way of working with my colleagues both within the care home and across the whole of Bupa.


Born in Stratford-upon-Avon, and then living in Birmingham I always classed myself as a bit of a Northerner, however, following my marriage and move to Newbury I have spent more time in the South of the Country and love being here. I live a mile from the Argyles so mostly walk to work.


My parents are still both in the Midlands, and also my daughter, so I do still travel up to Birmingham, but my real passion is travelling to Australia to visit my brother and sister in Brisbane and Queensland.


I also love gardening and have a 1/3 of an acre to potter in and grow my own fruit and veg.


My other passion is dogs. I have a setter called Porthos who comes to work with me daily and is one of the homes ‘therapy dogs.’ I also foster for the charity SebPRA.org and have had quite a few dogs stay overnight, a week or months, on the way to their forever families. The standing joke in our house is that I like dogs more than people! (True).


My daughter has recently had a cockerpoo puppy, Zenna, so I am also a grandma to an eight month old ball of fluff!


Other than that, I love cooking, chocolate and reading.
