The staff at Hollies Care Home provided my grandfather with exceptional care and kindness during his final few months. Every single team member: kitchen staff, nurses and management, etc. were so compassionate to not only him but also my entire family. I am so eternally grateful that this was the care
home chosen for him. He had a laryngectomy and could not speak but everyone went above and beyond to communicate with him and ensure he was comfortable right to the end.

Who are friendly, polite, helpful, and supportive plus very professional at all times.
My mother wasn't there long, as she passed away, but in the little time she was there, she had good support and nothing was too much trouble.

Mum has been residing at The Hollies since September. The care team are always helpful and do everything they can, From all her general care to ice cream outings and garden centre visits. Always good to see her smiley face on and off the website. Mum is very happy here. I would definitely recommend

Settled into Hollies fantastic, staff are friendly and get the job done.
Very impressed with the management.
I have been to other homes and can honestly say this home is caring and loving and the team have been brilliant no job is too big.
They really go out of their way to help.
Communication
is key and they communicate in a fantastic manner, so far extremely impressed.
It makes all the difference having your loved one in a place of comfort, knowing there are staff that actually care. I have visited lots of times now and wow what a team.
I would recommend this home to any of my friend's parents and actually have already recommended to a few.

All along have shown respect, care, compassion and consideration for my father. This has enabled him to settle quickly and give me the peace of mind that he is being cared for in the best way.

My review relates to a period over the last 6 months. The people are very friendly and caring. We feel the care they provide is very good. The communication and contact with us is excellent and we are kept up to date with any issues. The care home itself looks a bit tired but it is the care which is
important. On occasions, we have had feedback that the food is not the best but generally okay. Overall, the care provided is good.

My mother had to move from an excellent care home into a nursing home for ongoing support. The Hollies is a perfect choice. The manager had cared for Mum in her previous home, so knowing the manager's high standards was a deciding factor for our choice. The home is very clean, all the staff are caring
and welcoming. Their dedication to Mum's care is outstanding. All staff take extra time and effort to make sure she is very comfortable, especially at mealtimes, which is challenging and time-consuming. Mum's health has improved enough to be able to be helped into her chair, and thus join with other staff and residents.
We had many concerns over her move, but needn't have worried, the staff and the Hollies environment have exceeded all expectations, and one year on from her move, Mum is definitely in the very best hands.

My husband has been a resident at The Hollies for a long time. During this time we have seen many changes in staff, but have found them all to be very helpful, kind and caring. The food is very good, in fact, my husband has been eating things that he wouldn’t eat before!
All of the staff greet you
with a smile and a friendly word, which is wonderful, and much appreciated. The care has been of a very high standard and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Hollies to anyone wanting the best care for their loved one.

I can not thank everyone at The Hollies enough for everything they did for my nan. Her time may have been small but the impact they had on her life was huge and there will be no words to thank them all enough for making her time so special and giving her a second chance at life, we just wish she could
have had longer.
The staff treated her so well and it really did become her home, the woman who went in wasn't the same person who they helped her become again and always seeing her smile was everything again to all of us.
She always said she'd never go into a home but I think if it wasn't for the staff she wouldn't have been as settled as she was.
We miss her dearly but knowing that they all gave her the best end to her life we will forever be grateful for. Couldn't recommend the Hollies anymore, their care and compassion was amazing and the staff always made everyone feel welcome.

My dad resided at Hollies Care Home for 6 wonderful years and the staff became a second family. He was a bit of a handful due to the nature of his illness but the staff took it in their stride. Some even went the extra mile, coming in on days off to see him, and providing him with meaningful interaction.
I was always kept up to date with any changes in his condition, I felt safe to leave him in their care. The food he had was always prepared to his taste, even sourcing his favourite beer for him. Dad remained in Hollies Care Home during his last days of life, the care and attention he and I received was second to none, I felt so supported during the hardest time of my and his life. If you are considering Hollies Care Home for your family I would recommend them over and over again, they provide excellent care, activities, food, services and wonderful nursing and personal care. I cannot thank them enough for all they did for me and Dad over the 6 years he was with them. I will never ever forget them. Thank you.

There was an issue with medication in a pot for my husband. The member of staff involved went off sick and then left before the investigation was completed, and the drug was disposed of before being identified, which may have cleared them. At a vulnerable time, this was added distress my family didn’t
need.
There were some good points, but overshadowed by this unknown that I really wanted to be innocent.

Carers are good but overworked and poorly paid. Reports of bullying by some staff. Not really a “care” home. Seem to be more concerned with aesthetics and the perception of the home rather than the resident's care. Poor food quality with limited choice.
Good for residents who are able to get about,
very poor for bedridden care.
Slow to get things fixed like boiler, call bells, lights etc.

I have lived in the area for 22 years and was always conscious of The Hollies Care Home as a local 'landmark', but I had no real experience of care homes in the area. I was delighted to read the Care Quality Commission report and their evaluation of the actual 'care' as good. I am most impressed with
the staffing and management of the Hollies and their happy acceptance of me as a member of the family, always having time for my questions and calling me by my first name. My wife has settled in well and the manager has made provision to encourage and engage her, as a one-time professional musician, which she has very clearly enjoyed. My wife reports the home as a happy place and I can only agree. She is also eating well, so the food is obviously good too. Hollies also has the great advantage of being a 10-minute walk from my front door! We have clearly landed on our feet now that the need for care has finally arisen. Thank you Hollies for making this transition so effective.

This care home is amazing, the staff are wonderful and so nice they truly represent what people who work in the care home are about. We had to move my dad from another care home which was ok but to be honest, we weren’t very happy due to financial issues. We were all sceptical about moving and hoped that our next care home would be better.
I can honestly say that from the minute we arrived the staff were absolutely amazing! They
care so much and it’s genuine!
Grounded staff who show empathy, compassion, emotion and above all respect in every way. My dad was made to feel so comfortable in his last weeks and we will be honestly so grateful to all of you.

Having tried a few care homes before, there is no real comparison to the experience we’ve had at the Hollies. The staff are wonderful and very caring with a constant positive energy around them and you can see they genuinely love their jobs, which really helps ease the mind that my nan is in good hands.
Moreover, the general manager is the bedrock of this place and couldn’t do more to help and ensure that our family member is safe and well looked after. It provides great peace of mind knowing that the manager and her team are looking after my nan. I cannot recommend this place enough!
