I have been extremely impressed with the care and attention shown by all the staff at Dormy House. Nothing is too much trouble. She has been a resident for a month or so, but we are suitably impressed.

The home has been great. The staff are all very helpful and patient and always keep me informed about any changes regarding the resident. We were even allowed to bring in Weasley, the pet guinea pig.

Many activities are organised at my grandfather's home which helps massively to keep him motivated and active. The care is extremely high and all carers and staff always have a smile on their faces.

I cannot thank the carers, nurses and management of Dormy House enough. Times have not been easy for them with Covid, the love, care and dignity given to my wife are outstanding. I am forever in their debt. The lead clinical nurse is an angel.

My mother has been a resident at Dormy House Care Home for twelve years or so. I have peace of mind knowing she is in such safe and caring hands. The staff go above and beyond. I am constantly blown away with how thoughtful the Dormy House team are; from little touches like making sure Mum’s hair and
nails look nice to arranging a range of activities to keep her entertained and put a smile on her face. The past year and a half have been hard on us all but knowing Mum was safe and being cared for so well was very comforting. Can’t thank the Dormy House team enough for everything they do.

The staff have always been so nice to Mum and the effort they went to for Mum's birthday during lockdown brought a tear to my eye. Mum likes helping the hairdresser and sometimes gets involved in the many activities.

My mother has been at Dormy House Care Home for three months, like I'm sure so many others, she took a little while to settle in but I have found all the staff very helpful and keep us up-to-date with all my mother's care.
She has settled down and in general, seems happy.

Mum was admitted to Dormy House following discharge from hospital. Mum was treated very well, washed and dressed every day and encouraged to sit in the chair. Initially, we found arranging visits frustrating as there was some confusion between staff over the amount of time Mum had to isolate for. Visits
were restricted which although we understood, found hard as Mum struggled to communicate with anyone and was most responsive to immediate family. Mum passed away at Dormy and was treated with care and dignity. During her last days, we were allowed to visit as much as we wished and treated sympathetically by the amazing nursing team.

My mum moved to Dormy House in February from another care home after my father suddenly passed away. The staff have been amazing, helping her to settle in and be comfortable with her new surroundings. Mum suffers with Parkinson’s and other complications, meaning she is in a wheelchair and unable to
feed, dress or care for herself now. The staff are always smiling and joking with Mum and she is so much happier than in the other home. It’s lovely to see her smiling every time I walk through the door.

My grandmother was a resident of Dormy House for several years and Dormy have been really supportive throughout, they communicate really well especially through such difficult lockdowns. The nursing staff are fabulous, they are attentive and are always on hand to provide any information. Credit to the
activities team, they are great and provide a constant stream of entertainment and fun for residents. As well as allowing us to see Gran via Skype!

My aunt often said that she felt she was staying in a five-star hotel because of the food, care and ambience. She felt she was surrounded by friends rather than carers. It was always so lovely to visit her and meet the staff who gave us such a warm welcome.

Dormy House is very welcoming. The staff are always friendly and approachable. When visiting dad, he always looks clean and settled. Because of COVID, a member of staff stays in the room and is happy to answer any questions about dad's general health and well-being. Dormy house are very encouraging
about visits and keeps relatives updated with Emails and Newsletters. They sent me some photos of dad celebrating his birthday during lockdown, which was lovely and very much appreciated. I have no complaints about the staff and facilities and am grateful for their dedication and caring nature.

My mother was due to go into Dormy House straight from a hospital stay. She was going for an interim stay whilst a transfer to a local care home near to me in Cheshire was completed. The communication was fantastic, the staff had called me on a number of times to ask me for information on my Mother
to gain good background knowledge, he was very kind and thoughtful in his wordings. Going by my calls with him I would have liked my Mother to of gone there. It was a shame I never got to meet him as I feel he is like a friend we had some good chats.

My mother was a resident of Dormy House from August 2019 until January 2021. Mum was not the easiest recipient of a care home but she did acknowledge that Dormy was excellent. From the start, there was a very extensive programme of events and trips out which she loved. As the Covid pandemic happened
times were extremely difficult but Dormy did their utmost to keep us involved in what was happening. Obviously, they had to sort technology and explain to residents the reason for the technology which was not the easiest of jobs. They also arranged a zoom call very early on in the lockdown (April 2020) to enable us to celebrate her 100th birthday. All of the staff were very caring and somehow they succeeded in keeping the home safe and free of Covid (which was no mean feat). Anytime we wanted to speak with Mum it was facilitated asap Mum died in January 2021 - just old age - and all staff were very caring and supportive through that difficult time. Thanks everyone.

Dormy House is good caring, good staff, friendly, lovely environment and homely. Staff are so friendly with my husband since he moved into Dormy House. The clinical lead nurse very supportive and always updating me on my husband's health and condition and concerns. GP is always there to attend to any
medical issues relating to him, even with language barrier he is in good hands.

Job Title: Home Manager

Originally from the Philippines, I am a nurse by profession, and I’ve been working in the care sector for about 15 years since I moved to the UK. I continually try to enhance my knowledge and skills as a nurse.


As a Home Manager, it gives me an opportunity to make a difference across the wider community. I was part of an NHS pilot project designed to reduce hospital admissions, not just in residential care but for any elderly person at home. It was a fascinating project, and I am proud to have been at the forefront of this initiative.


My daily responsibilities encompass ensuring excellent care delivery by my team, prioritising resident safety, and maintaining regulatory compliance. However, what truly resonates with me is the personal connection I foster with the residents. I prioritise spending meaningful time with them, integrating myself as a familiar presence rather than just an authority figure, ensuring their comfort and well-being. I sit next to them and find the time to check the whole home’s environment and work closely with my wonderful team here at Dormy. For me, caregiving is a heartfelt commitment to providing the level of care I would want for my own family.


Drawing from my upbringing in the Philippines, where intergenerational living is customary, I approach each resident as a cherished member of my own family, overseeing every aspect of their care with meticulous attention.


It is my aim at Dormy to create a joyful experience and happy environment for the residents and ensure the whole community is harmonious and happy. I will use my skills to create a culture where there is a happy, motivated, working environment for all.


Outside of work, I am immensely proud of my two grown-up daughters who have both been to university, one is a lawyer, and the other is a nurse. We enjoy family time and I like to keep fit and healthy and place an emphasis on self-care and wellbeing. This enables me to positively impact those around me.


I live in Reading, Berkshire, and after a short commute, I find solace in the tranquil surroundings of Dormy House, nestled amidst a picturesque golf course. I invite visitors to experience firsthand the exceptional care and unparalleled amenities we offer.
