Lynwood Care Home in Sunninghill, Ascot is a purpose-built facility where people over 65 come for life-enhancing care.

The care centre enables 21st-century care while retaining long-established values of kindness and compassion.

Set in twenty acres of woodland and landscaped grounds, Lynwood Care Home is located next door to Lynwood Village, independent living retirement village for those over the age of sixty-five where the Therapy Centre is accessed through.

New - two new services: pre-bookable respite and rehabilitation care.

Respite care: Caring for someone at home can be very rewarding, however, it can also be extremely demanding. If needing a break or are planning a holiday, staff can provide a friendly, relaxed and safe home from home.

Please book residential or full nursing care. Pricing includes a private room with en-suite bathroom, nutritious meals, organised activities and entertainment.

Lynwood Care can also provide physiotherapy if required.

Cold and not welcome feeling. Ward is clinical and homely warm, and functional.
Staff are good and kind but restrictions are on them from Management.
The Management team is less than functional and doesn't care or try to accommodate the needs of the patient. Badly managed by a cold team that doesn't
listen to the family or the patient. Would never recommend this Care facility.

My first visit to Lynwood Care Home was an easy decision to make and I would not have to visit other care homes. Management greeted me well and showed me around the building which was perfect for my wife's care, and very clean. The rooms and bathroom were perfect. I was impressed with the visitor's
rooms which are very private. The staff are very caring and well trained, My wife is very happy with her care.

My husband has some challenging behaviour but the care teams have been exemplary in their handling of him. From personal to clinical care he could not have had better. Including his social mores of playing the guitar, albeit airplay! Thank you everyone.

Lynwood's care for Mum was always good. The staff dealt with Mum's care in a professional manner. They showed her respect and love. They met her physical needs and within the time allowed to them, also her mental, emotional and spiritual needs. Some of the long-term staff became her 'friends and family'
for which both she and I were grateful. They were also always kind and welcoming to my dad when he visited Mum. He became an 'honorary' resident - cups of tea and a plate of food always available for him, and staff looking after him as he became increasingly forgetful and confused.
My only criticism of Lynwood is the admin. At times the admin at Lynwood was rather chaotic, leading to confusion and requiring us to expend too much time chasing and checking bills etc.

Very happy with care provided to my wife who has stage 4 Alzheimer’s keeping her safe and well fed, something in the end I could not provide without compromising my own health.
Think there could be a bit more activity.

The majority of the care staff are very good and very caring, some of the management team seem distant to the staff and could be more proactive with them. Generally the care being received is good, again attention to detail such as drinks left within reach of the resident and keeping the residents covered
up to assist their dignity. I know people move about and lose their blankets but regular checking would avoid embarrassment for visitors and residents.

This care facility is excellent. My brother has been there for 3 years and the carers are wonderful. He is presently in the Dove Ward as he has advanced dementia at the age of just 72.
I see consideration from all at Dove and before in Robin. The receptionists are welcoming.
I could not be happier
and recommend Lynwood for peace of mind.

I have just had another excellent two-week stay at Lynwood CareHome. The staff are consistently welcoming and friendly. I was also very pleased to be helped to access physiotherapy sessions each week, the carers making sure I was showered and breakfast in good time.


My wife was also made very welcome

when she visited me. She was very relieved that the staff were careful to put my hand and leg splints for my afternoon sleep as well as overnight. I enjoyed the good quality food and the options available. My room was spacious enough for me to access both the French window and the desk in my electric wheelchair.

Mum has been at Lynwood for the past 4 years. We (the children) are always informed of any changes to her health, medication, etc. The care, dedication, kindness, and attention to detail shown by all the staff is truly humbling. We know that they care deeply for Mum and are always bright and cheerful.

My mother has been in Lynwood Care Home for four years and seems very content. Whenever I visit, she is always clean and well presented and the staff are very welcoming and helpful.
My mother moved into one of the houses for residents with dementia two years ago, and, although virtually bed-bound now,
her carers still try to chat to her and find her sense of humour.
Overall I’m very pleased with the help and care my mother receives.

I visited the resident in her new home and was impressed at how welcoming it felt from the receptionist to the care workers. The visiting room was clean and you could see that all safety measures were being taken to keep everyone safe in this current climate. To cap it all my friend said that the staff
were treating her well and looking after her. That alone made me feel relaxed.

Mum had respite care at Lynwood Care Centre for 1 month when she was discharged from hospital. We received a very warm welcome from the start and all of the staff could not have been more helpful. The nursing and care staff treated my Mum with kindness, respect and dignity. They quickly got to know
her likes and dislikes ensuring, for instance, that she was able to sit in her preferred area in front of the window. The excellent health care resulted in a quick recovery which enabled her to return to her own home. My Mum has dementia which has resulted in her being unable to enjoy previous activities however, she thoroughly enjoyed the excellent food including lovely roast dinners and homemade cake at teatime. The managers were incredibly helpful regarding Mum's discharge from hospital and leaving date to coincide with support at home. The receptionists always gave me a warm greeting when I arrived, were helpful and informative and personally took Mum her daily newspaper. I would highly recommend it.

Lynwood Care Centre have very poor interim management. Ignorant and needs training on how to listen! Not well respected in house, how this person has been employed I will never understand. Lynwood care staff are excellent, shame the interim management is not up to the same standard.

In this instance, our interim manager was carrying out her responsibilities, ensuring visits stay within the allocated times. The reason we have to be strict with visiting times is to ensure all visitors get their full time allocated – if one visit over-runs, it affects those who are booked in next which is unfair.
The interim manager mentioned is an experienced care home manager and highly regarded by her team and the wider organisation. Over the past year, she has worked hard to manage the care home, keeping our residents and staff safe through the pandemic.
Please accept our apologies for any upset caused, but hopefully, this response has clarified why our care home managers have to stick to the visiting procedures that have been put in place for the benefit of all.

Unexpected and out of the blue my husband had to go into a care home at only 59 years old and I’m so glad it was Lynwood. He is in Kingfisher House and I can’t express how the nurses and, especially, the carers are looking after him all with the back up of management. My husband wants for nothing and
with covid 19 going on everything is in place from the moment you enter the building. Well done to you all. If I ever need 24-hour care,I will make sure I come here with this excellent bunch of people keeping everybody safe.

Nicola is the Care Centre Manager at Lynwood, having joined in 2007, as an administrator, and was promoted to manage our northeast care home in 2013. During her time at Birch Hill Care Home, Nicola achieved an outstanding rating with CQC during her last inspection in 2019.


Nicola transferred to Lynwood in 2021 and since joining has reviewed how we provide care to our residents and recently launched our Best Life Model of care.

Lynwood is a great environment for delivering care. What I like about it is how it’s structured into units, or as we call them ‘houses’, of 15 people. To me, it’s the ideal environment to enable us to care for people in a person-centred way and it’s one of the main reasons I wanted to work for Lynwood. Another thing that attracted me to Lynwood is the Best Lives Model of Care, which allows nursing staff plenty of time with residents, so we can use our clinical skills to the fullest extent. It means we have enough time to spend with each resident to ensure they are well cared for and that their needs are being met.


“I also like the fact that Ben is a charity because I know that we’re focused on delivering good care rather than on making money. The staff here are passionate about care and they have really good relationships with the residents in each house.


“Another thing I like about Lynwood is the space. It looks big when you first get here – it is a big building - but I like the fact that there is enough space to do activities, meet with families and visitors as well as provide care. It’s also a very homely environment. When you walk into each house, it’s very relaxed, everyone’s happy, it really is home from home. Residents tell me that they feel at home here and that they feel safe, which is exactly what you want people to feel when they are living in a care home.

Job Title: Head of Person Centred Care

Joined: 2003

I have worked at Lynwood since 2003, I joined initially as part of the care team, supporting our residents and relatives on a day-to-day basis and I was promoted to a house leader in 2015, in this role I managed a residential dementia house and it was my responsibility to ensure that a person-centred approach to dementia care was provided.


In 2021 I joined the management team in my current role of Head of Person Centred Care. Working alongside the Head of Clinical Care, I manage Dove, Kingfisher, Nightingale and Heron Houses, I support the residents and relatives to ensure our residents can live their best lives whilst in our care, whilst also ensuring that our staff team are supported in their role.
