My mother was given excellent care throughout her stay. Visited many homes prior to my mum moving in and never regretted the decision. All staff are exemplary in their work and care.

My mom has been a resident for 16 months and has dementia. From the first day, Mum has felt safe and comfortable in the home and in all that time she has always said how kind and friendly the carers are and how much she enjoys her surroundings, her room, the bright and nicely furnished public rooms
and the lovely gardens. I can certainly bear this out as I visit most days and Mum and I have both formed great relationships with staff, other residents and relatives. The activity managers are full of energy and creative ideas and are unfailingly kind and responsive. As Mum's needs increase, every effort is made to meet them.

I am impressed by all aspects of care given to my mother. The facilities are very good and all staff show a caring and friendly manner. The activities are exceptionally good and very original; a lot of thought has obviously gone into them and I do enjoy the activities newsletter which keeps us in touch
and aware of what is going on day to day. The clinical care shown has been to an exceptionally high standard. My family are delighted with the care given at Prince Philip.

My wife is very happy at this home which makes it easier for my sons and myself to accept what is happening. She enjoys the friendship and above all the level of care that seems to go the extra mile, in that they deal with her problems yet leave her dignity intact.

Amazing staff! They are so kind and caring, and their love for the residents shines through; in fact, we class them as extended family. The care is exceptional, and the activities are absolutely amazing. We are always kept informed of any health issues. Most of all, Mum and Dad are very, very happy
here and have made lots of new friends with the other residents. I have total peace of mind with Mum and Dad being in such a wonderful place. Such a big thank you to everyone at Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh Court.

I visit my mum twice a week and have done for over a year. The staff could not be more helpful and friendly, nothing is ever too much trouble, and they all have such lovely things to say about Mum and the things that she has been doing. The care that Mum receives is amazing; she is regularly checked
on and always with such care and attention. The home itself is looking a little tired now, but not long till they move into the new building, which I was able to visit last week and looks amazing. Such consideration of needs has been taken into account when planning and designing the new build. Mum is very much looking forward to moving next month.

Since my father moved into Lord Harris Court nearly four months ago I have been really impressed by the team of staff who work there. The carers and other members of staff are always cheerful and make me welcome whenever I visit. Although they are very busy, they always take time to update me on any
changes or developments, and they are very understanding and patient in answering any questions I may have. I really appreciate the dedication shown by the staff and I am very grateful for the way in which they have helped my father to settle in and for all they do to look after him and the other residents.

I visited my mother today and was so grateful for the care and attention she is being given by all the staff. She was clean and tidy, her room was immaculately clean and tidy and her clothes had been well looked after and neatly stored in her drawers and wardrobe. The staff were so helpful and were
obviosuly involved in the care of my mother and knew her needs and character well. They were insistent that they brought us another chair to sit on and made us both a cup of tea as well as chatting to us about my mother and her health. Considering the challenging and difficult conditions they are working under I find this extraordinary that they can be so kind and attentive. It is also nice to see the same staff looking after my mother and this is why they know her well and can assisit her in particular with her feeding, which can take an inordinate amount of time, which I am sure they do not always have. The facilities are a little tired but they will soon be moving into a new building.

Care is usually excellent but more training is needed for new trainees, especially in language. Sometimes there are 2 experienced staff or 2 inexperienced staff - the latter are not very good on their own. Food sometimes very good but also below par ie: cold etc. Staff are very willing on the whole.
Senior nurses and staff are excellent.

My father was 90 during the lockdown, and Lord Harris Court staff made it such a lovely day for him and for us. My brother and I (daughter) were both able to visit him in the safe pod (2 visits), which was decorated for his 90th! We had been advised to send presents early to meet with 72-hour quarantine.
So the champers and glass we sent Dad were there so we could toast his 90th with him. The lovely activities ladies helped him with presents and cards, and the home provided a great cake.
The care and kindness lavished on my dad for his birthday made it special for all of us despite lockdown. It is also consistent with the care and support he receives every day.
We are delighted that we made the right choice of home for Dad with his Parkinson’s and increased nursing requirements. Lord Harris Court and its team provide exceptional care.

My dad has been in Lord Harris Court since March 2020, just before the lockdown. He was very unwell and very confused before this took place. Now several months on with the excellent support at the home, he is very healthy both physically and mentally. I can't thank the care team and staff at the home
enough. The visiting arrangements are a great idea, allowing us to visit him safely. Thank you.

My mother is immobile and doubly incontinent, she is mentally sharp, but a little deaf and has poor eyesight. She is very happy with the standard of care given by the staff, however, she dislikes the food, which I have tried and I agree it is not wonderful, being mostly pre-prepared and merely reheated
in the kitchen. In my view, with the right person in charge of catering, local fresh produce could be sourced and cooked on-site for no more than it costs to contract catering out to a large national company.
One specific comment I have, regarding the manner in which the home has managed the COVID19 crisis, is that they have done a superlative job in protecting staff and residents.

The staff and management have been amazingly caring during this difficult period of lockdown and could not have been more empathic, professional and competent than they have been. My mum’s hearing is very poor now, but the staff have found inventive ways to help her communicate and have managed to help
her feel connected with the real world and get through these tough months.
The screen visits have made it possible for two family members at a time to continue seeing mum throughout the lockdown which has made a huge difference to her feeling of well being and being able to communicate with the outside world.
Overall we can’t fault the care she’s received here at Lord Harris for over three years and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone who wants a special home for their loved one.

My mother has been living at Lord Harris Court for 3 years. When mum went into Lord Harris Court she was very poorly, the nursing staff were brilliant and has nursed mum back to better health. The care mum has received in what has been a very difficult year for care homes has been extremely good. When
I go and visit my mother the staff are very friendly and always may me feel so welcome.

The staff have been very helpful and considerate during these very difficult times. Any issues we have are dealt with very efficiently and as quickly as they can. Not always easy for the staff as we all think our issues are the most important but they are always polite and helpful.

My mother has severe dementia and is unable to communicate to me any longer but the Home have been brilliant at keeping me in contact and whenever I request a zoom meeting so that I can see her they have always gone out of their way to accommodate my request. I have also been able to visit her in a
secure way set up by the home by entering a room with a partition and my mother has been the other side. I am then able to talk to her via a speaker. This has been brilliant for me to be able to observe my mother more closely and has been very reassuring to me.

My father has been a resident at LHC for a few years now where he has been looked after extremely well. In October he celebrated his 100th birthday, unfortunately, due to the covid 19 we were unable to celebrate as we would have liked but the excellent staff at LHC were fantastic. They decorated his
room, made a special birthday cake and created an article about him to go into the local newspaper. Whilst he does spend most of his time sleeping, all the carers are very tolerant and understanding in dealing with him in a most caring and supportive manner. Dad is very happy there and says he has all his needs looked after.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.114)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.114) out of 10 for Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.847 for Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh Court is calculated as follows: ( (63 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.847

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.267 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh Court is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 9 = 0.667

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
