A very caring and loving environment. With Covid, I have found that the staff and team have adapted very well to the challenges and have communicated very well with the absentee family. Keep up the great work.

I wasn't sure quite what to expect of the arrangements to visit my sister and was very pleasantly surprised by the outcome. It was all extremely well organised and communication between us was excellent even bearing in mind that my sister is very hard of hearing.
The staff were most helpful in getting
the initial hearing difficulties quickly sorted out and all subsequently went very well.

Lord Harris Court is a very professionally run care home and also has a friendly and homely environment. I am delighted with all aspects of my mother’s care, especially during the coronavirus situation.

The staff at Lord Harris Court strive to maintain a relationship with both the residents and their families. The homely atmosphere has made my mother feel comfortable, settled and secure. This has consequently reassured me in knowing that my mum is receiving a high-quality level of care. The home is
well led and whilst the facilities are a little dated, the fabric is well maintained with a very high level of cleanliness. All staff are friendly and committed and take a real interest in the residents and their welfare.

My mother has been cared for in the home and is looked after very well. All the staff are very kind and caring and during Covid19 we have been kept regularly updated, which for me, on the other side of the world has been a comfort.

My parents chose Lord Harris Court because they wanted to remain together and this home was able to accommodate their wishes and made two rooms available for their use.
Over the years the home have been excellent in their care and attention of my parents. Both settled in well and joined in with the
activities, including day trips out.
The advantage of choosing this home has meant my parents were able to transfer to the nursing wing, ensuring that they stayed in familiar surroundings with the people they knew.
During the past few months with the coronavirus pandemic, the home have managed to keep my father safe and well. They have managed the home to the high standard I have come to expect, and have every confidence that my father is being well looked after.
We have regular zoom sessions with him arranged by the home, and it is good to see he is comfortable and happy where he is.

Excellent care provided by dedicated staff. A very difficult period over the past 3 months due to COVID-19 but extremely well managed. The home locked-down ahead of Government guidelines minimizing the risk of infection. I understand Lord Harris Court is now COVID free, a testament to the pandemic
management at the home. Regular situation updates received, along with Zoom meetings with our family members arranged by the activity team.

The COVID-19 virus has meant this has been a difficult period for obvious reasons but zoom calls have helped and regular contact with the carers and shift leaders has always been possible to get updates. The management team have also provided regular updates which have been very informative and helpful.
The carers have been excellent throughout. We look forward to being able to say thank you in person when we can visit again.

The last couple of months have been very tough for everyone, but we can only imagine what is has been like in a care home setting.
Lord Harris Court has been exemplary in all aspects of their care. Most significantly, they have contained the virus through careful planning - zoning the residents and
the care teams as appropriate but ensuring that the residents were not totally isolated. The staff have worked long hours and as a team, changing roles as necessary (we know the lady who is normally on the reception became a 'hairdresser'). They have read letters to our mother (who suffers from memory losses) from the family and set up Zoom meetings when we have asked for them. We have seen photographs of our mother and through the weekly, informative and honest newsletter we feel that we are still close to them. My siblings and I regularly say to each other, how lucky we are that our mother is in Lord Harris Court - I cannot recommend it highly enough. Thank you.

The staff have been working very hard to maintain excellent care to my relative through this difficult period of the Covid-19 pandemic. I have received regular contact through zoom calls and speaking directly to nursing staff regarding my relative's health issues. They have been very reassuring and
forthcoming. Can only give praise to all the staff as they have been putting themselves on the frontline at risk to care for my relative and all the other residents. We look forward to joining the bigger family of the home in due course once again.

I am so impressed with the way all at Lord Harris Court have reacted in these very difficult times. The great proactive planning by management, and the open and honest way in which you have regularly communicated information has been superb. Whenever I have rung the person who has answered has been
cheery and helpful and whilst it has not always been possible to speak to nursing staff (which I completely understand) someone has always called back. The fact that you have all continued to put time and effort into the social side of life at Lord Harris Court, to keep things as normal as possible is testament to exemplary management and a skilful, loyal and dedicated staff body.
Many congratulations, I look forward to the day when I can say this in person!

Since the Covid-19 lockdown, every single care has been taken with all the staff members to ensure the safety and well being or my own mum, plus all the residents of Lord Harris Court. I have never had any doubts that my mum is safe and happy as a resident there, even in normal times. Residents are
all treated with the utmost care and dignity and everyone is absolutely marvelous.

Deciding upon the best care home for a parent, once their independence to live in their own home is no longer sustainable, is a very big responsibility to have to take on. I chose Lord Harris Court for my father eighteen months ago and time has shown that that decision has brought peace of mind for
us both. Dad settled into the home very quickly, participating in activities offered and making friendships not possible when living alone. He has always been treated with dignity and respect and a continual interest in his wellbeing. Of course, there are inevitable lapses in standards from time to time, but what is appreciated is the high professionalism shown by the management team in promptly and efficiently addressing such issues once brought to their attention. Dad has no regrets leaving the worries of owning a property behind him and I am much relieved to see him in settled into a safe, secure and caring environment.

My mother has been a resident at Lord Harris Court for nearly two years. As a family we are very happy with the quality of care she is receiving and any queries or questions are dealt with quickly and efficiently. Mum always feels secure and safe and is treated with respect and dignity. The staff have
shown thoughtfulness and consideration in many different situations e.g my husband and I visited during a singing activity. When we left, a carer went to sit next to Mum, showing empathy and consideration for how Mum might be feeling. Mum loves the food, the musical activities and the weekly chapel service. She says she is never lonely or bored. As a family we are always made to feel extremely welcome during every visit. This was especially apparent during a recent birthday party for Mum - the staff and service we received were exemplary and it was just a fabulous family day. Mum is happy and content and this, in turn, makes our lives so much easier.

My mother has been a resident since 2013 as she requires a lot of nursing care. She has been very happy indeed. The staff really care and look after her needs. The building is dated but there are plans to replace it. There are always activities going on and family can visit at any time unannounced.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.114)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.114) out of 10 for Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.847 for Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh Court is calculated as follows: ( (63 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.847

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.267 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh Court is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 9 = 0.667

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
