Woodbury House Care Home cares for residents, some of whom may have sensitive care needs, such as memory loss and dementia.

The home provides residential, nursing, dementia, respite, and palliative care, and will work with residents to develop a personalised care plan that will include everything from hobbies, exercise and dietary preferences, taking into account any health issues. This will determine the level and type of care individuals receive. This can vary from minimal residential care to full support.

Located in a scenic area of Berkshire, Woodbury House is a comfortable and friendly service in which to spend a retirement, with mature gardens and its own summer house. A team of versatile care workers also extend their expertise to respite care in order to assist members of the local community who are full-time carers themselves.

Trained chefs prepare a varied daily menu to give a choice of tasty, nutritious meals.

The recreation and activities team oversee everything from pet therapy and reading club, to music exercises and knitting.

Key calendar events are always made extra special at the home, because they enjoy any excuse for a party. The activities co-ordinator works with residents and relatives to make sure there is something for everyone.

The receptionist expected us. We entered a reception area which had an ambiance. The manager came and sat with us, explained the policy and ethos of the home. We were introduced to other members of the team who explained their roles. A tour of the home followed. We were particularly impressed by all
the staff we met who, whatever their job, all said hello and many introduced themselves by name.
She was an extremely difficult person, refusing to eat or participate in anything there, nevertheless this did not affect the level of care she received or change their attitude towards her and she left there in much better shape than she went in.
The success of Woodberry House Care Centre was down to the manager who set the ethos for it and had an excellent staff team who responded. She was a qualified nurse with good management skills. She recognised the root causes of our friend's behaviour and so was able to help us to understand and so to support the friend much better. We cannot rate it highly .

All staff were friendly and welcoming. All staff showed a high level of care to not only my mother but to all other residents. The staff made regular contact with myself and other family members regarding my mother's health deteriorating due to progression of her dementia, all staff treated my mother
with dignity and respect. In the last few days of her life, all staff demonstrated a high level of care to my mother but also provided unbelievable support of myself and my family. The staff at Woodbury House made a difficult time for us much more bearable.

I am very happy with the care that Mum has received at Woodbury House. All the staff are very friendly and approachable and importantly I have found the team very responsive to changes in Mums' needs. Real efforts were put into her birthday 'tea' to ensure that it was made special for her, which was
lovely. The recent refurbishment has greatly improved the ambience of the home too. Choosing a suitable home for a loved one is never an easy task, so it makes me happy to see Mum settled and well cared for.

My mother has now been in the Care Home for approximately six months. She is very happy to be a resident at the home. She is very well cared for and gets on well with staff and other residents. She is now eating well (something she has not been doing for some time). The staff are very kind and very
attentive to my mother's needs. The staff stimulate my mother and as a result, she is much more talkative when I visit.

My father has been in Woodbury House since Sept 2016, due to a rapid decline in his health leading to the inability to care for himself at home. The staff at Woodbury House have been really supportive to both myself and my father during the transition into nursing care. All the staff are really friendly
and nothing is to much trouble, The whole house has recently been refurbished to a high standard and it is kept really clean, I have enjoyed 2 lunches with my dad, and the food is very good with alternative options available. Overall I am really pleased with my father's care and more importantly so is he.

We only used the home for 5 weeks but found the staff very good and caring. They did everything we wished for in the last few days of Dads life. The rooms were in need of decoration and this was under way in the home. We would recommend this home to anyone else.

We only knew Woodbury for 5 weeks as sadly dad didn't live long but the staff have been remarkable. Gentle, attentive care for him and and understanding for us the relatives.
The building fabric is tired but a refit will soon put this right. Lovely location for my forming family. Thank you Woodbury.

My mother was 87, had advanced dementia, was immobile and was a resident for just over 3 months. She had issues with her skin and these were seen to as soon as they were discovered. She had problems with eating and staff even made tasty shakes and soft puddings to tempt her. She was treated with dignity
and loving care.


We were able to talk to staff about anything and if required meetings were arranged, even at weekends. At all times the whole family were included in all aspects/decisions regarding her treatments. Her end of life plan was organised and again we as a family were all consulted and able to contribute our wishes.


The management and staff are excellent. We felt the best possible care was provided to Mum and we as a family were also treated with care. The atmosphere at this home is very calming and peaceful.She had a lovely big room with countryside views.


We visited 7 other homes before we chose WH, we were so pleased we did, Mum could not have been in safer hands.

Woodbury House provides a home from home. The staff are great , from the nursing staff to the activities co-ordinators. The attention to detail in personal hygiene has reduced infections we were seeing at home and as a result overall health has improved. The nursing staff and particularly the clinical
lead are always available to deliver care and also to chat to relatives and answer questions.


My father in law is comfortable and well looked after, he gets attention when he wants it and has his own space if that suits his mood. Since arriving he has had new glasses, a new walker after physiotherapist recommendation, and a whole new group of friends.


The bedrooms need decorating but that's in hand and if the standard is as good as the recently refurbished communal areas it will be worth waiting for.


In his own words Woodbury House is his "Country Retreat" and we can't wait for better weather to use the gardens and wander down to the summerhouse.

My granddaughter has lived at Woodbury house for a year and a half. She enjoys her time here and feels happy to be a part of the home. The staff are a great team and are always willing to help. My grandmother gets on well with everyone and is always happy to take part in everything. She enjoys the food
and the service of all the meals. My grandmother likes all the work that has been carried out at home too.

Jade Allwood

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2023

Jade Allwood is the Registered Manager for Woodbury House and has been with Woodbury since March 2023. Jade has been a registered manager in other homes for 5+ years and has a wealth of knowledge.


Jade is very passionate about ensuring there is a high standard of care and service in the home. She is very proud of the home since she joined and is excited for the future of the home as well.


Outside of work, Jade enjoys spending time with her family, cooking and reading.


In the past, Jade has been an air cadet and has even learned to fly a plane. This is one of Jade’s greatest achievements, alongside her two children.
