Austenwood Nursing home is a place that I really trust to consistently look after my Dad. The owner manages it very well and they have some excellent staff who genuinely care about the wellbeing of their residents.
They invest well in improving the home and provide good food.

We are so pleased that, when it became impossible for my father to remain at home, he was enabled to be cared for at Austenwood. The diligent care and kindness shown to him and the support, understanding and compassion shown to his family were exemplary. All of the staff always showed us professional
but friendly support and the family were kept fully informed if there were any changes in his condition. We were always made to feel welcome and could visit at anytime.


We knew that my father's condition would progressively worsen and eventuate in his death. When that time came, all his family felt very supported by staff that cared and understood. We are extremely grateful to all of the staff at Austenwood, (Management through to Domestic Ancillary staff), for all that they did to make my father's last years as comfortable and positive as his condition would allow. Thank you everyone.

My father was a resident at Austenwood for 7 years. The care he received throughout that time was outstanding and I could not recommend the nursing home more highly. The staff are friendly, caring, patient and I know they always had my father's best interests at heart. The owners and the senior staff
are compassionate and professional and take the time to get to know the families as well as the residents. My father suffered a slow decline over the years as a result of dementia. He was treated with love and dignity by all the staff until he lost the battle for life in February this year. The staff couldn't have been more caring and supportive in my father's final hours. Austenwood Nursing Home is as much like a family home as a nursing home could be and I know my father was happy there.

My aunt transferred to this nursing home last Summer after staying at the same care home for 9 years. I was concerned about the upheaval and how she would be, but the nursing staff have been so kind and caring that I have not had to worry. She cannot do much for herself now but always appreciates the
kind smiles and little chats from the nursing staff as they look after her or just pass by her room. I have an elderly mother to look after, so Austenwood gives me peace of mind, that I do not have to worry about the care of my aunt.

My mother has been at Austenwood for seven months. We have been very happy with the quality of care and service provided. Any queries have been swiftly dealt with. The food is very good. My mother has put on weight since she arrived, which is a good thing as she was wasting away! A number of events
are organised weekly, and a few outings have taken place.

Dealing with my wife must be a tremendous challenge as she is unable to communicate but I find that the staff without exception treat her with kindness, understanding and dignity. Regrettably, my wife is unable to participate in the various activities that are organised.

My mother lived at Austenwood Nursing Home for over two years following a stroke until her death in December 2016.
My brother and I feel so lucky that we found Austenwood for her to live in. The level of care she received was of the highest quality. The staff turnover seemed low and there was always
someone on duty, care staff and nursing staff, that we knew and who knew our mother. They were proud of the quality of care they were providing. There was always time to chat which was very important to us.
The rooms were well-appointed, comfortable and spotlessly clean.
We all felt that Austenwood was our mother's home, and you can't say better than that!

My father is in a very vulnerable state, unable to move and talk. He is treated with care and respect. He has a simple, clean, small room that opens to a beautiful courtyard. He is included in group activities and has one to one time with two positive, fun activity coordinators. The staff are trained
and look after him well. They are my dad's new family and they support me as well as my dad and the staff support each other.

Mum came directly to Austenwood after spending 6 weeks in Hospital and fortunately settled straight in. From our initial viewing in October we knew this was going to be mums new home, fortunately, mum was accepted as she needed to be assessed as she suffers from vascular dementia. The owners have made
Austenwood an extremely comfortable home for their residents from the tasteful furnishings to employing only the best staff. Having viewed various nursing homes before finding this one I know there are some shocking places out there but I can honestly say this is one of the very best if not the best in the area. I only have praise for the whole team - they are caring, dedicated and will go above and beyond when required. What impresses me is seeing the owners on site each day - that to me shows their dedication to their residents and their team. I am so grateful to everyone there.

My father is 91 with limited mobility and has been at Austenwood for 5 months.He is thriving, a healthy weight and is enjoying life. The best thing for me about Austenwood is that because it is professionally managed and the environment is lovely, staff stay which means the team works brilliantly together
knows the residents well and is highly motivated. The environment is homely and welcoming with modern facilities. Rooms and corridors are spacious and airy. Dad's medical needs are taken extremely seriously and nurses always inform us of any concerns around Dad's health.Dad loves the food which is served in an appetising way with attention to nutrition and variety.I cannot thank Austenwood staff enough, for their consistently high level of care. It has made a huge difference to us as a family. We find it hard to believe, that the first nursing home Dad moved to, in a similarly nice area, has the same rating and similar fees to Austenwood - there is no comparison to the quality provided!

Austenwood is a lovely home - a nicely furnished and welcoming environment where staff are all unfailingly polite, friendly and caring. My husband was treated with affection and consideration by a hard working and dedicated team, as was I. Catering was excellent and flexible and care staff were cheerful
and helpful at all times. I would have no hesitation in recommending Austenwood to anyone looking for a well run and homely care home.

I cannot express how brilliant I think this home and staff are being told in January that my mum's cancer was incurable, they went down the route of palliative care at home. Not great and mum worsened ended up in hospital for what was a soul destroying neglectful seven weeks. She was transferred to
Austenwood Nursing Home in an absolutely awful way in pain and neglected oedema in her feet and legs. The staff treated my mum like a person with respect and humour, they kept me updated with everything, mum had a beautiful room with access to a lovely garden, unfortunately, mu was only there six weeks before passing away, they could not do enough for us at this time and made it dignified and peaceful.
We were against mum going into a home but they changed my mind completely and turned mum around, unfortunately, the cancer was too far gone. They even made my two children completely at home. Brilliant management, caring, funny staff, beautiful home and garden, superb chefs.

Age 100 my mother came to Austenwood Nursing Home for end of life care following a fall breaking her collar bone and not expected to last more than a week. However with very good care in nutrition she lived until 1 week before her 105th birthday. Having been bed ridden for 2 1/2 years she never had
any bed sores and was very well cared for and looked after. The staff were very kind and helpful to her family and all visitors. I would have no hesitation in recommending Austenwood Nursing Home.

The environment is spacious allowing room for passing in the corridor for frail/slow moving residents rooms are spacious cleaned daily and warm. Nurses pay scrupulous attention to patient/resident medical condition, dispense meds on time and liaise with relatives. Carers smile when they inter-relate
show care compassion and patience to event the most demanding residents food is well served nutritious and adapted to individual needs and fed by hand where required. Residents are washed regularly and laundry service is impressive. Matron and owners run a most efficient and effective service that I will recommend widely. Residents are continuously monitored 24/7.

As soon as I walked into Austenwood and met the owner and his staff during a tour of the nursing home, I knew I could entrust them to care for my husband’s aunt at the end of her life. The atmosphere is warm, calm and welcoming and the home itself and the grounds are attractive and immaculate. We
had visited several other nursing homes in north London near our aunt’s home, and were appalled at the chaos, noise and the smell.


Austenwood is family run and because the home is relatively small, the individual needs of the resident and their family are at its heart. The residents are treated with dignity and respect by a very dedicated, friendly, professional team. All the staff – caring, nursing, catering, housekeeping, administration, facilities and management are relaxed and open to discuss anything.


Our aunt wanted peace at the end of her life and Austenwood gave her that.

The air is fresh and odour free. The heating is at a very comfortable level. The rooms are clean and fresh. The decor is excellent. The food is very good. The service is exemplary. The staff are dedicated, hard working and very helpful and happy. The general atmosphere is warm and welcoming.

My mother's now been at Austenwood for nearly 4 years and I'm just as happy with the home now as I was then.


Mum has advanced vascular dementia and can no longer walk nor talk properly, yet she seems happy. Staff in Care Homes come and go but most of the carers who were there when she arrived are

still there now plus new faces because more bedrooms were built on. The carers and nurses are so gentle, patient and friendly and, even if the resident doesn't understand any more, the carer will still explain what's happening and what they are doing.


Even with the extension, it's still a small home with a family feeling and a caring atmosphere. The owners are there most of the time and they, matron, nurses and staff are all very approachable. I'm still so happy that I chose Austenwood as I don't believe Mum could be cared any better elsewhere.
