Barchester Chalfont Care Home is on the edge of Gerrards Cross Golf Course, just minutes from the pretty villages of Chalfont St Peter, Chalfont St Giles and Denham.

It sits in magnificent grounds with marvellous views across a picturesque lake and the fine fairways of the golf course; yet close to the M25, M40/A40.

The emphasis is on outstanding care, dignity and choice and how residents live their life.

There is an extensive activities programme, as well as their own music therapist, on-site physiotherapist, hairdresser manicurist and aromatherapist. They provide first-class 24-hour nursing care alongside expert care for people with dementia in the memory lane community.

Sadly my mother had to go into a care home and we had to very quickly find a suitable place.
This home stood out compared to others that we visited.
It was a very difficult time but the care and genuine love felt by the staff was amazing. They are professional and nothing was too much trouble. They
responded to any feedback and helped us to feel relieved at leaving our mother. unfortunately, she passed away in the home which they managed with extreme care and we were able to be with her in her final hour. They were genuinely upset and shared our sorrow.
Everyone is approachable has compassion the standards are high. When you are dealing with one of the most difficult times of your life you need to feel confident that you have given your loved one everything that they have deserved.

We have found the staff to be absolutely fantastic. Everybody is friendly, compassionate and genuinely invested in the welfare of my father. He has received excellent care from the day that he arrived at Barchester. Nothing is too much trouble for the carers.

I have been aware of this home since 2013 as my father was a resident between 2013 and 2016. There is a much happier and more efficient feel and good to see the manager has been in place for just over 4 years. I have stayed in touch with the staff since my father's death and it is clear the home is
much more better managed now and a reflection staff turnover seems greatly reduced. My initial conversations with two members of staff, in particular, were positive and they moved incredibly quickly to accommodate Mum. I was immediately impressed by the senior healthcare and in dealing with background and medication. etc. The activities I have met have been great.

I am always impressed by the friendly staff who seem happy to help with anything that is possible. Always made to feel welcome, offered a cup of tea and homemade biscuits. It is a joy to visit. I have not personally experienced the food but the menu looks good. Neither have I taken part in the activities
but there are many, sometimes every day.

As I have never been in a care home I didn't know what to expect. I need not have been nervous. I found it very welcoming. Good warm rooms! Very nice food and very pleasant reception and good accommodation. All in all, very comfortable experience.

My family and I are very pleased with how my wife has settled into Chalfont Lodge Care Home. We have found the staff to be very patient with my wife, very accommodating and friendly. We have noticed how the entire home is very clean and organised. My wife really enjoys the food, even eats custard now.
This is something she would never eat going to Chalfont Lodge Care Home.

As soon as we walk in the door, we are given a welcome by all the staff; they also ask how we are. Myself and my son are not concerned about anything, which we appreciate very much. The only thing we can say is there seems a shortage of staff at the weekends. We always enjoy the cup of tea we can have

Enjoyed my stay in Turnberry Unit. The staff were nice and caring to me. I enjoyed spending time with the activity group and listening to the live music sessions. I found the nurses kind, caring, attentive and friendly. The food was very good and had good choices.

I cannot recommend Chalfont Lodge high enough. every single member of staff was so kind, sympathetic and understanding. The care they took for our mother was outstanding. It was such a peaceful and beautiful view from her room which gave her much solace.

The care home has good outdoor space and presents well. After an accident, my son was in a vegetative state and was cared in the residence for 3 years in one of the units. In the last 3 years, the staff has gradually reduced by 40%, this reflected in the care given to the residents. I had to visit and
check daily my son's comfort, the care he required, and if his needs were met as he was unable to communicate. When he looked in discomfort I had to ask for painkillers to be given, if his skin had sores I had to ask for a doctor's assessment for creams to be prescribed, I had to check fluid charts if laxative was needed. My son had to sit on a chair supervised for 4 hours and the care home was struggling to assign a carer because more than often there was shortness of staff. Many carers are nice and helpful. The night staff is half of what it was 3 years ago and therefore pushed to the limit. The decline in nursing care contributed to my son's discomfort.

My husband is a spinal patient and therefore confined to bed or a wheelchair and has been in Chalfont Lodge for 6 months. He is mentally fine. He finds the staff caring and considerate. He is treated with dignity. Generally, he is happy with the food and there is a good choice. Because of his poor hand
coordination, he is unable to do some of the activities but enjoys the music, both joining in and listening. He enjoyed being in the pantomime. He would welcome more church services, talks and games. He would enjoy outside visits. His room is small but chosen for its rural view.
As a regular visitor, I find the staff helpful and friendly. Inevitably our family visits in the home have recently and regrettably been restricted to his room because of Covid. Where problems arise it is usually caused by a lack of communication.

Chalfont Lodge has the best team of staff in all departments with positive attitudes and big smiles. It has excellent facilities and is set in a beautiful location, this makes it a happy and very homely care centre for my friend to live in.

Hi, my name is Isabel but go by Izzy. I qualified as a Music Therapist in 2015 from Anglia Ruskin University and lived and worked for some years in Cambridge. I completed my second master's in Mental Health Science in 2020 whilst living in France before moving to Bucks to work across three NHS hospitals specialising in dementia and rehabilitation. I am passionate about the power of music and music therapy for older people and those living with dementia, and about strengthening connections between research and practice. As well as working for Barchester I run community choirs and teach the piano locally and in my spare time, I enjoy yoga and spending time outdoors.
