Visiting from overseas I was nervous as to what to expect for my first visit to Shelburne. I shouldn't have worried. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by friendly staff who clearly care for the residents. Their compassion is reflected in a happy group of residents. I can now leave knowing that
my mother is in excellent hands, which is very reassuring. Thank you.

My mother was admitted at short notice less than 24 hours after her husband died and the reception was exceptional. She was welcomed with compassion and understanding. Almost immediately, we noticed an improvement in her general behaviour. She became responsive and more alert. She has eaten well and
put on weight. We would recommend a Barchester home to others without hesitation and would like to thank the staff and management for what they have done for mum.

My neighbour went into Shelbourne Lodge originally as a respite resident but things took a turn for the worse and it was apparent that she would not be returning home.
The staff were absolutely fantastic. They took great care of my friend with tenderness and respect. They were also very kind and in
the early days, allowed her to have her meetings in the home with her "Sparkles" group.

When walking up to the front entrance, I could see how well maintained the grounds and pathways were. I was greeted upon entering the main doors and made to feel very welcome with an offer of tea/coffee and some cake. Everywhere I looked was clean and well kept. I was shown all around and even saw some
empty rooms. They have a wonderful menu and a lovely garden with plenty of wildlife to see.
Everyone said good afternoon when I passed them, it is such a lovely, peaceful place, a real home from home.

When my husband was due to move from hospital, I was so worried as I'd visited many places not too good. Shelburne Lodge was a joy to me. So friendly, so caring and his room is so cosy with his own bathroom. My husband is very happy there, loves the food and the residents love him. Such a help to me
at this sad and worrying time.

My husband spent the last week of his life receiving 24 hour nursing care at Shelburne Lodge.


All staff were very caring, but two team members deserve a particular mention: the deputy manager was wonderful - going well above and beyond. She was so compassionate and caring and treated my husband with

the utmost dignity and respect. Nothing was ever too much trouble. She cared for our family as well as my husband and we will always remember her kindness.


In addition, the maintenance manager was great. He was called upon several times to facilitate a change of room and adjustments to my husband’s bed. We found him to be friendly, efficient and very supportive.


I would not hesitate to recommend Shelburne Lodge.

The care given to my wife was in everyday words excellent.

Overall I find the home to be very well run by the management and staff. The carers are all very nice and I can speak to them with any issues I have, and things are normally sorted out fairly quickly.

My father was admitted 11 months ago. We chose the Shelbourne Lodge following my mother-in-law's 18 month period here of which we were very satisfied and during which she was extremely happy. My father is well cared for and looked after. Although bedridden, he is very content and we, the family feel
he is safe and well looked after.

I have both nan's in 2 different care homes. This one is in a different league. My nan is very happy here and we are so pleased that we can see her care is 100%. The range of activities is amazing, keeping her busy and entertained. The choice of meals feels like she is at a hotel. Would recommend this
care home to anybody.

I am a very caring and passionate person and I like to make sure that my residents are always looked after from a person-centred point of view and treat everyone with Dignity and Respect.
