A very caring and friendly Nursing Home. All the staff are wonderful and respectful, and all the needs of the residents are meet. The rooms are of a good size and the cleanliness is very high for the whole of the home.

Becket House Nursing Home is an excellent care home with a real family feel in a beautiful setting.
This is what we were looking for for my mum who has dementia, a smaller care home where staff would have carers who would know Mum well. This is important as she is unable to communicate her wishes,
needs and wants.
The staff are wonderful, friendly, polite, respectful and will do anything to help Mum or us, as a family.
Mum has a room which looks out on the beautiful garden which is decorated to feel homely and is kept very clean.
There are regular visits from a keyboard player which are great as Mum loves music, the food is home-cooked and Mum really enjoys the range on the menu and particularly, the desserts which are her favourite.
Communication is excellent and should I wish to speak to someone about anything, the nurse, the care home manager, they are always available.
Mum is very safe and happy here and not only do the carers treat her with respect, they feel like an extended family.

Mum is 92, was unsure about care home living though aware she needed support when she decided to move into Becket House Nursing Home. Having been there over eighteen months, she is complimentary about the accommodation, food and staff.

I cannot fault this care home, carers are kind, genuinely care about residents and take time to talk to them and respond to their needs and requests. They take time to get to know residents individually. Residents have the opportunity on weekdays to join in with activities and games and the home invites
musicians in and even had a carol service to ensure residents feel connected to the community and are entertained. I feel reassured and at ease knowing that my mum is being well looked after and is happy and safe. The manager is friendly, approachable, genuinely interested in providing the best care and ensures she knows information about residents. Food is home-cooked and the home is always clean and welcoming with many residents in the lounge during the day with residents watching TV or chatting.
I am really happy with the care my mum receives and am grateful for everything staff do to support her.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.053)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.053) out of 10 for Becket House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.627 for Becket House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (39 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 59 Ratings = 4.627

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.426 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Becket House Nursing Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 5.4 = 0.926

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
