I would like to say 100% to this care home. Everyone is so friendly and helpful.
If I had to go into a care home, this would be the one I would like to go to, as I have seen first-hand how wonderful all the staff are. I really can't speak highly enough of every person who works there.

Annual Christmas party and pantomime. The catering staff provided an exceptional spread for residents and visitors to enjoy, and even individual treat bags when leaving with homemade gingerbread biscuits and chocolate.
The staff were festively dressed and their usual welcoming selves. All residents
in festive clothes where possible. My husband was hoisted into his wheelchair and positioned in the sitting room so he was able to watch the pantomime. It was very emotional watching him enjoy the performance. Huge thank you to all.

The team at Bluebirds are just amazing! All of them, the care, cleaning, laundry, activities, nursing care, chefs and kitchen staff, admin, managerial team, they genuinely care for my mum and also us as a family. We are kept up to date with all aspects of Mum's care, the atmosphere is relaxed but professional,
there are regular social events for residents and families and some really interesting and helpful educational talks from experts within and outside the home on relevant topics like dementia, Mum has some challenging behaviour that came with her dementia but staff are always kind and flexible with their approach to Mum, making her feel safe. We have had several awful experiences at other homes and, as a family, feel very lucky Mum is a resident at Bluebirds.

Reply from Shaun O Gara, Operations Manager at PJ Care Bluebirds Neurological Care Centre

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such lovely feedback about Bluebirds. We are truly touched by your kind words and thrilled to know that you and your family feel so well supported.
It's wonderful to hear that our team's efforts - across all departments - are making a positive difference for your mum and your family. Creating a relaxed yet professional atmosphere where residents feel safe and cared for is something we strive for every day.
We're especially pleased that you've found the educational talks and social events helpful, as we believe in fostering a community that supports both residents and their families. It's heartening to hear that our tailored approach to your mum's care is helping her feel safe and understood.
Your comments mean the world to us, and we'll be sure to share them with the entire team - they'll be so encouraged to know their hard work is appreciated.
Thank you again for your support and trust. If there's ever anything more we can do, please don't hesitate to reach out.

The Care is excellent and the staff and residents are like a small family.
They keep in touch with family at all times and are just fab.
The activities arranged for residents are great.
We have had experience with other homes but none as good as PJ Care. Their response to Covid-19 and the protection
of staff and residents was brilliant.

I was very pleased to find this care home for my husband as he has complex neurological needs and needs specialist care. There are few homes that can provide this type of care for young on set and it took a while to find Bluebirds. After many experiences in other homes for respite etc. I wanted my husband
to benefit from this small, friendly and well-run home and feel he is well taken care of.

My partner has been a resident now for nearly a year and I visit weekly. The quality of care is excellent. Facilities always to the highest standard. Rooms are always clean and residents well looked after.
There is also a very low staff turnover which speaks highly of the overall atmosphere in the
home. I am very happy that she is there.

The staff deal with highly complex individual needs. It is not an easy job and certainly not financially rewarding but very important none the less.
On the whole, they are cheerful and professional. The environment is bright and clean.

We take all feedback very seriously, which is why we ask for it. We believe we do an excellent job and this is reflected in many of the comments we receive, but we never rest on our laurels and your feedback is great as it gives us areas to look at in more depth for improvement going forward, so thank you for this.

All staff are kind, made a big effort to get to know my dad as a person. This has helped them work out how best to meet his needs.
The unit has always been really accommodating to allow family visits/outings.
There are few agency staff which helps residents who have behaviour needed proper management,
as agency often not so well trained.

PJ Care Bluebirds offers what I believe to be a unique care service and is a breath of fresh air compared to other care homes we'd visited. Bluebirds is able to manage complex needs and deal with certain dementia patients. Time is taken to ensure that residents backgrounds are understood. They demonstrate
a level of persistence, second to none, when faced with issues around administering medication.

Staff are always welcoming and approachable and even in times that are busier than usual and admin and maintenance are very good.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.850)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.850) out of 10 for PJ Care Bluebirds Neurological Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

The Average Rating of 5.000 for PJ Care Bluebirds Neurological Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (35 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 35 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for PJ Care Bluebirds Neurological Care Centre is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 5 = 0.6

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
