I love and care very much for the resident and so pleased she is being looked after by the wonderful staff here. They play a huge part of her life now and knowing that she is happy and content means so much to us. The effort they put in to ensuring that the residents are safe and happy is just wonderful.

We visit a friend usually once a month. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Although our friend was initially not too happy she has now settled in and is a lot happier. Each time we visit the staff cannot do enough to make us feel welcome providing us with hot drinks and a bite to eat at lunchtime.
As we travel a fair distance for our visit, we usually stay for about 4-5 hours. Our friend had a stroke and has difficulty with her speech but we have seen a great improvement and she is of course really glad to see us. She has said that the food portions are very high and it can be a bit off putting when you are faced with a lot to eat but we have said to her that she only needs to eat what she can.

The whole team are very kind and caring to every visitor and resident. They're all proactive, welcoming and considerate of all around them. When my gran first arrived she was bed bound from hospital and now nine months down the line, she is up and walking with her walker, which the team helped with.
I can never thank Broomfields enough for looking after my gran. I couldn't recommend them enough!

I am a regular(daily) visitor to see my mum. The whole team are fantastic and offer an amazing service to the residents, from cleaning to senior management team. They offer personal, individual care , friendship, fun, activities and dignity to the residents. The food is excellent, offering choice and
plenty of it. I would like to see more fruit offered either at breakfast or lunch. They strive to continually improve, ask for feedback and act on it. They work well with other support/ specialists who come into the home. They make me most welcome.

The staff at Broomfield Residential Care home are both caring and compassionate towards the residents at all times. Although always incredibly busy, they do their utmost to accommodate the needs and wishes of those they care for - often with huge empathy and patience. They always try to give residents
the freedom to choose, where safe to do so and make them feel that Broomfield's is their home. The daily range of activities offered provides welcome stimulation, and cakes are often home-baked by staff. The facilities and meals served are also very good.

Mum has been in Broomfield for just over two years now. So pleased she was there when the Covid lockdown happened. I know that she is safe and well and more importantly, she is happy. The staff are amazing and take care of her so well. After falling up to three or more times a day, when she lived in
sheltered accommodation, she has not had a single fall.
From a personal point of view, my stress levels are no more and I can relax knowing that Mum is being taken care of.

Mum moved to Broomfield two months ago and we couldn’t be happier. Mum has improved beyond all expectations because she is so settled and content. The staff are kind, caring and patient and most importantly have given Mum her dignity back as they treat her with respect. They give her all the time and
encouragement she needs. Visiting is a joy. The team are so welcoming (even to Mum’s dog, who is positively encouraged to visit with me!). Everyone at Broomfield adheres to the highest safety standards, which gives me so much reassurance. Her room is spacious and always immaculate. Mum loves the time she spends in the communal area and really appreciates the garden and all the activities provided by the staff. The manager and all the team are an absolute credit to their profession and communication is a joy. Phone calls are answered promptly and politely and emails' responded to quickly. We are all so grateful to everyone at Broomfield. Thank you for giving Mum a home in which she can thrive.

I visited Broomfield at short notice as I am not local to Olney. I found a member of staff extremely accommodating. She offered to come in on her day off to show me around as the daughter of a perspective respite resident. I was really impressed by how welcoming both the staff and the living environment/accommodation
were. The rooms are modern, light and airy, also welcoming and personalised, often with lovely views onto the garden and many with an en-suite wet room/bathroom. I was heartened to see how actively involved the staff are with the residents, especially the wide range of activities offered to residents to try to meet individual needs as well as group needs. Since viewing Broomfields, the manager has been extremely helpful and supportive to the family, in preparation for mum's forthcoming respite care stay. I'm confident mum will be very happy there and very well cared for too.

I have worked here on numerous occasions as a volunteer. I have previously worked in care for over 10 years and I have to say Broomfield Care is excellent from layout to management and staff. Regular activities which the service users seem to enjoy. But the activities are not your basic activities they
meet individual needs and also as a group.
The staff are lovely and would go above and beyond and the new building is beautiful, I didn’t get to see people’s bedrooms however the one that I did see was a showroom and it looked amazing with a large floor to ceiling window looking on to the garden and had an en-suite wet room.
You can see that the management, staff and owner are really involved and always looking to improve to make the social care environment a great one.
I would recommend Broomfield to anyone that is looking for a nice home for a loved one.

May 7th 2020 was my sister and my mother's 91st birthday, leading up to this we chatted about not being able to visit Mum due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, but the staff of Broomfield Residential Carehome seemed to have other thoughts. They pulled it off and gave her a wonderful birthday celebration, although
my sister did manage to visit the home and see the celebration from outside looking in, and we were able to get pictures and a video of this special day, which we will treasure.
Not just this day but often we see staff go that extra distance, and during these very trying and worrying times of Covid, as we are well aware the staff have families of there own, both our respective families with grandchildren and great-grandchildren are very grateful of the attention and warmth that they give her.
Thank you all.

My father was initially quite difficult to manage when he first went into Broomfield. However, the staff were able, given a little time, to calm him down and he appeared to be content in himself.

The staff are very approachable and gave me all the information I needed when requested.

I cannot

thank the staff enough for everything they did for him.

Having had little experience of care homes previous to my father's stay, I was unsure of what I might find! My father settled very quickly and soon became very comfortable in his own room. He had freedom to move around the home and was always happy and well fed. Although it may not have been the most
modern care home it has undergone some major refurbishments and is now bright and clean. The staff have always been the best thing about Broomfield - friendly, helpful and caring. Although there have been staff changes it still maintains high care standards and a good management structure. As my father's needs increased and even up to his death the staff have all been excellent in the way they have dealt with him even when he was agitated and difficult.
On the day he passed away some staff stayed long after their duty had finished and three members of staff took time out to attend his funeral!
My thanks and best wishes go out to all the staff.

The Manager & staff of Broomfield took very good care of our Mother during her stay there. Mum was very happy and comfortable and was full of praise for the staff and care she received. Her room in the new wing was very well appointed and comfortable. Above all, we always felt that the staff took
a real interest in the welfare of all their residents, nothing was to much trouble for them and they were always available if needed.

Current Review Score: 8.3 (8.288)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.3 (8.288) out of 10 for Broomfield Residential Care is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.913 for Broomfield Residential Care is calculated as follows: ( (21 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 23 Ratings = 4.913

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.375 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Broomfield Residential Care is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.25

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
