Castlemead Court Care Centre is situated in the heart of historic Newport Pagnell which is a small and thriving market town only a 20-minute drive away from central Milton Keynes. The home has strong links with the local community and engages with local events such as the annual carnival.

Castlemead Court is a modern purpose built 79 bed care home set in its own grounds with private parking for visitors. The home provides the highest standards of care and accommodation for people with residential, dementia, nursing or palliative care needs.

All the bedrooms have en-suite facilities and all areas of the home are accessible to wheelchair users. There are lounge and dining areas with kitchenettes on each floor where meals are provided by the award winning chef and his team who can cater for all specialist diets. In addition, there are various quiet areas around the home and a Hairdressing Salon.

There is a full activities programme to suit all needs and abilities and regular Church Services are held for those who wish to attend.

The friendly management and staff team are very welcoming and supportive and provide the highest standard of individualised care in a home from home environment.

My husband has been in Castlemead Court for 6 months, the support we have received as a family from the manager to all care staff has been outstanding. The manager and team leader have gone above and beyond. The care my husband receives is exceptional, the staff ensure as a family we are always updated
in relation to any health issues or any concerns regarding my husband. Excellent care home.

I was only able to visit my wife in the few days before lockdown in March 2020. She seemed very happy after being transferred. My assessment, therefore, is based on minimal information and experience about the home. Generally, she is well cared for and seems happy. I would like more communication by
phone or text messages on a regular basis.

My mother came to live at Castlemead Court during the first lockdown. It was very hard to accept as I have cared for her for so many years but I know that this what she needed. She won't admit it but she loves it here and I know she is very grateful for the care she receives and so am I. Obviously,
it would be lovely to see her all the time and it all to go back to normal but this is how it is right now and I can not thank the staff enough for all they do for my mum. I am utterly grateful. Thank you.

Castlemead Court appears to be well-run and staff seem interested in and engaged with residents. In my experience as a visitor, the centre is well-run, is well presented and kept clean and tidy. Most importantly, the residents appear to be very well looked after, they are safe and well-fed and as far
as it is possible to tell from visits, it seems like a happy place.

My aunt has been a resident for 2.5 years. The home is friendly and welcoming and up to March 2020 I was able to visit her as many times as I wished. I could take her for a walk or stay in one the the lounges. During this awful pandemic the home have tried their utmost to ensure visits continue, providing
a safe meeting pod, constructed at short notice. Staff always contact me with any updates in regards to her wellbeing and permissions needed for Covid testing etc. They send pictures regularly and you are able to FaceTime.
My aunt always looks well dressed and I feel confident she is in a safe, caring environment.
The staff have worked hard to keep her happy and healthy in these difficult and challenging times. They are always open and approachable for any concerns or questions I have. I would recommend Castlemead Court Care Home.

My mum wasn’t in Castlemead Court Daisy unit long but they looked after her so well and kept me updated by email and I rang often. Even being in Australia, all the staff I spoke to were brilliant and very catering. My mum passed away recently and they were kind and the staff were very thoughtful of

Castlemead Court staff are exceptional. My dad was in the Holly nursing unit from 2018 and had disabilities following a stroke and was cared for by a wonderful team of carers and nurses. The Castlemead team are like a family working together and you become part of that family. Before Castlemead, my
dad had experienced two other nursing homes one in London and another big named one in Milton Keynes and none compare with Castlemead. I visited my dad daily and we have never had any issues or complaints. The management team are just as caring and approachable and they are all a wonderful hardworking team.

My dad is in palliative care with brain and lung/colon cancer.
He has been admitted here for his last days and has a one to one carer, who has been incredibly kind and caring.
We are very grateful to the wonderful staff who are taking care of him.

There is not enough permanent staff as many of the residents need one to one. Sometimes on reception area, there are only visitors. It took three days for me to get someone to get a doctor to my husband who spent a week in hospital with a chest infection. The nurse on duty those days, he was not her
patient. It took the next change of staff for a doctor to be called. There are a lot of dedicated staff on the floor but could do with more. I take my hat off to the staff.

My sister and I visit my Mum 4 days a week so my experiences are based on these snapshot visits. We are not around at mealtimes so my marks for food and drink is based on comments from the residents (cold, rough and repetitive) so it is only hearsay. We feel that your strength is in the staff you employ.

Castlemead is a welcoming, friendly home. It also has a high level of care. My mum had a hard time coming to terms with her situation, but the staff and medical staff have helped her enormously. As a bonus, it is always easy to park when I visit, in fact, the whole outside of the grounds is very good.

The majority of carers are kind, hardworking individuals. There are two who leave something to be desired, as is the case in most organisations. Any worries I have had have been dealt with promptly by management I feel my husband is well cared for at Castlemead.

My husband was in Castlemead for 7.5 years and I was overwhelmed with absolutely everything. Since he passed away 2.5 years ago I have been very lucky to be a volunteer at Castlemead and I am so very sure that there cannot be a care home anywhere that can top Castlemead. Everyone is so kind and caring

My mother suffers from dementia and became a resident at the home at the end of October 2019. It is such a happy environment and Mum has thrived - her confidence, her mobility and her speech have all improved and she loves it there. She settled in far quicker than we anticipated and I have no doubt
that all of this is the direct result of the care and attention she receives. She also loves the food and thoroughly enjoys the entertainment programme. The staff have welcomed my husband and me too and we feel included in Mum’s care, something which is very important to us. They immediately address any little queries or concerns we may have whatever they might be - nothing is too much trouble. Mum’s laundry is done immediately and her room is kept very clean as is the rest of the home. Everyone, without exception, plays a major role in the home’s caring environment from the moment you enter the building.

Grace Madenyika

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2020

Grace is a registered nurse, an adult branch, and has been qualified for 8 years. Grace has worked in various NHS departments, hospices, community research and private organisations in which she’s held different positions from staff nurse newly qualified, to clinical leadership and training. Grace is passionate about elderly care and end-of-life as well as ensuring her colleagues are supported and inspired to develop their skills in those areas of care they are also passionate about.


She progressed from Care Manager to Home Manager in December 2023.


Karen

Karen Wilkins

Job Title: Clinical Lead

Joined: 2017

Karen is a registered general nurse with over 30 years of experience. Karen has worked in a variety of settings including nursing homes, acute medicine, and HIV nursing as well as working in the prison service for 14 years.
Karen joined Excelcare in 2017 and worked as a staff nurse until taking the role of Clinical Lead in December 2023.


Karen has a passion for providing excellent care for those living at Castlemead and has a special interest in wound care.
