Nestled within the quiet surroundings of Chelmsford, Admirals Reach care home offers personalised residential, nursing and nursing dementia care to older people.

The professional care team is on hand to help you or your loved one settle into life at the home. By getting to know each individual resident at Admirals Reach, they take pride in creating an engaging lifestyle which offers something for every resident to get involved with. Inside, Admirals Reach's modern yet homely interior includes well-furnished lounges and spacious rooms as well as a conservatory. Arranged in five separate houses, four of these provide dementia care and one provides residential care.

The home also offers a range of lovely dining areas where residents can relax and enjoy an intimate dining experience with family and friends, and in addition to the dining rooms, residents can also enjoy mealtimes in the peaceful courtyard garden on sunny days.

As my mum's dementia progressed she needed more day-to-day personal hygiene care. Admirals Reach was able to provide this care and more. Mum has settled well here and our visits are always of a positive nature. Their ethos of gathering all the residents together in the day room has helped with her interaction
with the other residents and visiting family and friends.

I have found this care home to be kind, caring and seeing to my dad's needs. He has only been here a few months but he seems happy here and the carers and nurses go out of their way to make him comfortable and content.

The staff, care and facilities in Benbow House are excellent. My mum has been here for 8 years, she has always received excellent care from both staff and management. Over the years my mum's needs have changed and the staff have always taken these changes in their stride. The food is good, the rooms
are clean and tidy. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this home. All staff have an excellent understanding of dementia and the needs of residents.

From my husband's arrival by ambulance to the day of his passing six weeks later, the detailed and dedicated personal care given by everyone was beyond outstanding both by day and by night. His dignity was respected at all times. As a family, we were all welcomed with a smile and kept completely informed
about his condition. Every aspect of his life was improved - physical, mental and spiritual - by the excellent care given in this home.

My mother has been in Nelson House for nearly two years. I can say all the staff are kind, patient and caring. Mum always enjoyed the food and chats with staff. Room was clean. In the last days of Mum's life, all staff went above and beyond for not just Mum but family as well. The staff here are heroes.

After a fall, my father needed urgent respite care. Admirals Reach could not have been more helpful and caring, ensuring that he was welcomed within a few hours of contacting them. My father has settled in very well. The staff are caring, knowledgeable and always smiling! I would highly recommend this

I find everyone very kind. The food is nice. I love the garden watching the pigeon in the water bowl having a bath. But I don't like the bed that much.

I am so grateful for the wonderful care my mother has received from all the carers in Nelson House, they truly love my mum dearly. One member of staff, in particular, has done a great job keeping us informed about our mum. I know my mum is so cared for. My mum has built a special bond with some of the
carers. They are always kind, caring, and thoughtful. Blessings to them all.

Lal Mangalam

Job Title: Home Manager

“For me, it’s making a real difference to our Resident’s lives with good care delivery and support.”


Lal is a Registered Nurse with over twenty years’ experience. He is a knowledgeable leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life to older people, to enrich their lives. Lal is dedicated to providing quality care and support for elderly people, to enrich their lives.


Lal closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. He uses his experience to motivate his team to deliver care and support in a way that Residents gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home. Lal is committed to promoting individual choice for Residents, allowing them to feel empowered.


He also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Admirals Reach.


When asked what he enjoys most about his role, Lal remarked:


“Seeing Residents smiling and knowing that as a team we are making a difference to their lives.”


In his spare time, Lal enjoys playing badminton, travelling to exciting destinations and spending quality time with his family.
