Funny how this care home allowed my mum to be kicked out because of my family raising concerns RCH backed their then staff and this fell on deaf ears. Somehow this home managed to get good on their ratings. All of a sudden they have new staff coming out of the woodwork. RCH should be ashamed of the
way some residents were treated. My mum left Brentwood Care Center weighing nearly under 9 stone, bed bound. Since day one of going to her new home she has gained weight and is up enjoying life.
This place should be ashamed of what my poor mum was dragged through.
The pictures on their website amuse me. I would love to share the dirty room my mum was in, a disgrace. Happy if they are sorting it out but terrible they did not listen at the time.

It is disappointing that this second review, again makes unsubstantiated and inaccurate claims, especially as the time elapsed since your mum was at the home is almost 12 months, having left on the 12.7.22. We responded to your initial review with a full explanation of our investigation to your unfounded comments.
Unfortunately, Carehome.co.uk review policy allows a reviewer to leave multiple reviews, even if they haven’t been in the home for almost a year and even if their comments have been investigated both internally and externally by regulatory bodies and proven unfounded.
We are disappointed that statements in the review which are ‘hearsay and rumour’, have been allowed to be published; this goes against Carehome.co.uk policy.
As a home, our care and support for the residents and their loved ones is at the heart of everything we do.

We looked at a number of care homes prior to Mum moving in and chose Brentwood Care Centre due to its high standard and decor, both in the public spaces and individual rooms and the activities and genuine commitment to physical, cognitive and emotional support provided to residents. We also had a dedicated
client relationship manager who was responsive to our queries and who provided a single point of contact during the moving-in stage which was extremely helpful. So far, so good and Mum has settled and seems very happy.

Great experience in getting our elderly dad into residential care. Staff from the home were so helpful on moving day and made sure everything went smoothly to settle into his comfortable room. Dad is now settled after a couple of tricky weeks but is now getting used to his new life. Dad is quite a fussy
eater so some meals have not been successful but this is, now getting better. Overall, a positive experience so far and the staff always do try their best to make sure everything is ok.

My husband was at this home for 7 years when the 7th manager+ covid arrived. When visits were allowed again I was shocked at the state of him. Dehydrated, unshaven, permanently in bed, eyelids stuck together. It took three attempts to get an appointment with the manager to discuss which proved fruitless.
I was left outside her office for 40mins, my concerns brushed aside. With help from social services, he was moved to another care home where he now thrives and I sleep at night knowing he is cared for.

My brother who has Down Syndrome and Alzheimer's was admitted to this care home for a few days over the Christmas holiday due to unforeseen circumstances at his supported living. The first thing I noticed was the stench of urine in the home. Secondly, residents looked dishevelled and lying in beds wet.
Residents walking around with soiled clothing (excrement). Eating foods with excrement in their fingernails including my brother.
My brother was asleep on his bed with urinated clothes on, no incontinence pad on another occasion, a pressure sore was forming on his bottom, and his feet were swollen, unshaven, and unshowered, twice I went in and showered him myself. Toiletries hadn't been touched. The staff did their best but were demoralised. I wrote a comment and asked to discuss it with the manager but had no reply. On leaving, some confidential notes were lost.
I'm a nurse and have nursed people with Alzheimer's and know the difficulties but this home is a disgrace.

The support and communication from everyone associated with the care home has been fantastic and as a family, we couldn't be more thankful for everything that has been done for my mum so far. The home itself is very welcoming, clean and we feel so much more at ease with the care she is now receiving.

The Client Relationship Manager has been superb since my mother was moved into this facility. I receive regular updates and I feel that I can make contact at any time with any concerns. The transition has been very difficult for my mum but I feel that every member of the team understands how she is

My mother came into the Brentwood Care Home in a mentally poor condition. Her recovery is nothing short of a miracle. I can only put it down to taking her meds at the correct times, regular meals and having plenty of people (staff and residents) to talk to plus not having the stress of running her home.

I have found my mother quickly settled into the home and I have found all the staff, friendly and welcoming. I was impressed that the staff from the outset knew her name and helped her to find her way around and got her involved in the many activities in the centre. I would recommend the centre to others.

We've been helped on my mum's care journey since her discharge from hospital by the customer relations manager, who has been nothing but patient and kind during what is a very stressful time for my mum and our family. My mum is in respite care at the moment for four weeks and already after one week,
the difference is incredible. Shes put on a bit of weight, is engaging and laughing more with us than she ever did in hospital and being helped and encouraged to go along to the dining hall for meals and engage in the activities. She particularly enjoyed the singing this week and the events coordinator has been so kind in making sure Mum knows what's going on and encouraging her to come along, even pushing her in her wheelchair to the lounge. The lady in charge of personal care is respectful and kind and all events are written up in a freely available day book in the room. Thank you all.

Most of the carers are overworked. Some are very kind, especially one in particular, but they are always being called to do another job. My sister often has to keep her soiled (no.2) pad on for hours, asked the nurse and she says someone will be along shortly. On 24th July 2022 I was with her for two
hours and ten minutes - she had asked to be changed before I got there. Some night staff say wait until the day staff come in. Not always washed every day. I could go on but no room on here.

Upon being admitted we was advised how my dad would be assessed to provide a consistent report on his progress. All staff were kind and respectful to both my dad and our family. We were kept updated on his progression and how he was interacting with them. Dad had plenty of personal space in his room,
which was very clean. I would recommend this care home based on the kind, compassionate and professional service given to my dad, retaining his dignity, as well as the kindness and understanding given to us, having never dealt with us before, providing clear understanding.

Dad has been here for over a year and near the end now. I have to say any concerns I have had, have always been addressed. I do feel that more staff are definitely needed. Dad settled in and is very happy there. The care he's getting is very good.

My sister has been a resident now for about four weeks and we have been really happy as to the treatment and care she has received. The food is amazing and she is very happy there. She will have to be assessed by social services as to whether they will fund her to stay, but we will do everything in

Having recently moved my mum from Brentwood Care Home and after seeing her at her new home we felt that we should leave a review. Charging someone with limited funds over £4000 a week and not offering any sort of alternative or reaching out to work the situation through is staggering, especially after
seeing her in her new home where she does not have one-to-one care and does not need it. They did eventually offer to remove one-to-one care but no tangible plan. Communication was poor, and many emails and phone calls went unanswered. In our last week, mum needed a trip to the hospital. The hospital staff could not reach anyone at the home to check what medication she was on. We also had a call from the agency that carried out the DOLS on mum asking us about our experience with the home as they themselves had a complaint and wanted to know our views. We made mistakes ourselves along the way but comparing the home my mum is at now to what she had we feel they need to improve.

Provision of 1:1 care is difficult especially when NHS funding is removed and families are left to pay for this, unfortunately local authority funding is means tested and so not available to all. We do acknowledge that other providers will be more willing to take risks especially where buildings are smaller and not purpose built. My grandad was cared for with complete dignity and respect for a number of weeks at the end of his life. The team were kind and compassionate to both my grandad and us as a family and made his final weeks as comfortable as possible. We cannot fault the communication or care from the day he moved into
the days after he passed away, when the manager still called to support us, during a really difficult time for us all.

Jacqui brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and expertise to the home, with over 30 years of experience in the Health and Social Care Sector. For over 20 years, Jacqui has been managing residential, residential dementia, nursing, and rehabilitation care settings, including almost four years as an Operations and Compliance Manager.


For Jacqui, the passion and dedication that have inspired her career since 1992 are still vibrant. “I have relished and valued every aspect of my journey through the care pathway. I enjoy the diversity of the role – no two days are ever the same! I am especially passionate about the care of people living with dementia, offering stimulating and meaningful experiences for residents and ensuring that the care they receive is the best it can be. I love the social aspect of meeting and liaising with residents and their loved ones and supporting their journey at this time of their lives. I enjoy being able to lead a team of carers and nurses to deliver high-quality care to the people living at Brentwood Care Centre.”


Outside of work, Jacqui is an animal lover and shows her natural compassion and dedication through looking after the local wildlife. “I have a love of animals (once I was intending to become a vet) and I have some visiting foxes, cats, seagulls, and hedgehogs that I feed on my front lawn every day. I also go out with my partner each night to feed foxes and badgers at our local nature reserve. I hope in some small way I keep them well-fed, off the streets, and out of people’s rubbish sacks and help them to remain safe.”

Diana Moraru – Manole

Job Title: Essex Regional Operations Manager

Essex Regional Operations Manager, Diana has a wealth of experience and knowledge from across Health and Social Care Sectors.


With over 16 years of experience, Diana started her career as a Health Care Assistant in a neurosurgical hospital and went on to train and qualify as a Nurse in Romania. Since coming to the UK in 2016 as a Nurse, Diana has had various roles leading up to her first General Manager role in 2017.


Diana’s experience in developing a team’s knowledge and skills through leadership and mentoring is something she is passionate about and is looking forward to supporting RCH Care Homes across Essex.


Another part of her role as Essex Regional Operations Manager that she loves is, ‘inspiring a great team to make further differences to the lives of the residents, making sure they are living their best life possible and that everyone feels it is a nice place to live and work; because it’s a home from home.’


Whilst not a work Diana enjoys travelling, keeping up to date with world news and being adventurous; this year she took part in a Sky Dive!

Rhiannon joined the Brentwood Care Centre family in Spring 2022.


She is passionate about her role, supporting families and loved ones on their journey in looking for care and also building community links with the home's local community.


'I love that my role is meeting people whether that be supporting them in understanding the processes of looking for care during what can be a difficult time or, organising community events such as our monthly Dementia Cafés and our intergenerational events.'
