Gifford house is a luxury care home providing accommodation for frail older people along with specialist nursing, palliative and dementia care.

The home is able to care for one hundred and two clients in comfortable surroundings. Gifford House is situated on the outskirts of Basildon, set in extensive landscaped grounds.

Gifford House offers all the advantages of a purpose building with modern facilities. The bedrooms are attractively decorated and finished. All have en-suite facilities and in addition there are spacious supported bathrooms and shower rooms. They encourage residents to bring along any personal or favourite furnishings, ornaments or pictures and will assist in personalising rooms to individual taste.

The home has six lounges and four dining rooms. It also has a cinema room where residents can enjoy their favourite films, an activity room for residents and a private dining room for residents and families.

Gifford house is set up to ensure that everyone within it is viewed as an individual and is cared for in a way they prefer. The family orientated feel to the home gives a professional yet warm approach to care for any much-loved member of your family.

My Mother was at the home for two and a half years after she became unable to properly take care of her medications and other things, with no relatives living near enough to be able to help out.
At first, Mum did not want to leave her house but she liked the airy, light look of this home and it smelled
good so she moved in. It was less than a week later that my mother, looking and acting much happier and healthier, started telling people "moving here was the best decision I ever made"! She really enjoyed her whole time there and joined in with anything that was offered - "keep fit", card making projects, church services and visits from "Elvis", local choirs and bell ringers.
But the main thing for me was the care and attention - Somebody looked into the room every hour and people were constantly in and out to bring refreshments or one of the excellent nurses checking up on her. Somebody would go with her to hospital visits and they really took great care of her.

Our mother lived at Gifford House for nearly 5 years until her recent death. Mum was well cared for with the staff being attentive and friendly. The facilities are modern and well maintained and Mum enjoyed the food, which she felt to be a good standard. There was also a good variety of entertainment
and things to keep her interested. Overall we had no concerns at all during Mum's time at Gifford House and we were impressed by the staff, especially those who had worked there for some time and got on really well with Mum.

Excellent from start to finish and accepted my mother in law with very short notice. All staff are friendly and professional and seem to care for the residents in a genuine way.

My Mum is a resident receiving palliative care.


At this awful time in our lives the staff have proved to be supportive, caring, kind and considerate to both my Mum and us as a family.


Last Sunday was particularly poignant - we were all dreading our last Mothers Day with our lovely Mum and decided

to spend the day with her and asked to join her for lunch. When we arrived we were overjoyed to see her room had been re-arranged to accommodate 4 of us - alongside Mum. The table was set and decorated with flowers, we had a wonderful time, just as we would have done at home, sharing lovely food, laughs and memories together. The staff couldn't do enough to make our day special and we will always treasure the memory.


Thank you - we are truly grateful to you all, from the Domestics (who do a wonderful job) to the Management and everyone in between. xx

This is a lovely caring home, all staff are kind and the residents are all very happy, plenty of quiet spaces to go and sit when visiting. Only one area of concern is the food not being consistent, sometimes not edible.

The service provided by AMS Care Ltd first came to the notice of my wife and I in late February this year, she was discharged from hospital. Her mental circumstances are such that she requires nursing care. Arrangements for transport on the day of discharge unfortunately did not go according to plan,
but she was warmly welcomed on her arrival. The commitment to the delivery of an excellent standard of service has continued throughout the duration of her stay. Indeed she and I have nothing but high praise for the scheme. The accommodation is good, staff knowledge, support and sensitivity is excellent. Meals very good, special effort to stimulate residents, creative and well supported.

My relative spent the last 16 months of his life in the care of the wonderful staff on Betts unit it's not home but it's the next best thing he was made to feel welcome and valued treated with respect kindness and love as were the family there comes a time when you cannot look after loved ones at home
and they have a better quality of life with professional care and family support and Gifford House have got it right.
