On the whole, I think it's a really nice home.
There is always room for improvement though. The management are really nice and always seem willing to listen and help. All the carers that I've met all seem nice too, as do the maintenance people etc.
My uncle started off in a very very bad place and
not once since he has been in St Joseph's have I felt a sense of panic.
The entertainments lady is great and is fantastic for all the residents. It is not a fancy home but it doesn't need to be. Foremost it needs to be well run and managed with priority given to the care and happiness of the residents who now call St Joseph's their home.

Our Aunt was fortunate to be transferred to St Joseph's from Broomfield Hospital for end of life care. Whilst at St Joseph's she received the best of care from kind, competent, professional and caring staff. A member of staff sat with her as she slipped away peacefully before we could get to the home.
Through their caring approach, Staff were able to see and appreciate the best of her, when she was at her most vulnerable. All staff did their best to engage her in conversation and activities to the best of her ability.


She had a sunny room, overlooking the grounds of St Joseph's and the whole atmosphere there is calm, unhurried and peaceful.


We too were treated with the kindest professionalism by all the staff we came into contact with. To reiterate, she was extremely fortunate to be able to live at St Joseph's at the end of a very long life.


Our heartfelt thanks to all staff.

My mother recently passed away at the one after residing there for nearly a year. During that time, I found the home to always be clean and well presented. Staff were always caring and attentive, no problem was ever too big. Towards the end of mum's life, they treated her with dignity and respect. The
home is well run with a family atmosphere and professional caring staff with the building set in beautiful grounds. Thank you St Joseph's.

I am very satisfied with the care my mother receives at St Joseph's Nursing Home and regard the management and staff very highly. The smoothie project undertaken to add fresh fruit into the diet of the residents I have been very impressed with, and hope that there is continued support for it to be available
more than once a week. The investment currently underway to improve the interior is having a very positive impact on making the home look cleaner and brighter and I look forward to the project continuing to all areas. I am particularly interested in the planned re-landscaping of the grounds which if carefully laid out with the needs of the residents in mind, could have the makings of giving an incredibly uplifting outdoor facility for all residents, their family and friends and staff to enjoy fresh air, nature and beauty and enhancing wellbeing for all.

Compassionate and competent care, appropriately targeted to individual care needs. Good staff skill mix. Staff responsive to need. Good standards of hygiene and safeguarding. Balanced diet and appropriate focus on nutrition and hydration. Good nursing care received. Some of the facilities could be further
upgraded and more activities could be offered to those residents who are able to take part. Overall the staff do a fantastic job.

First impressions match reality. The home has a warm 'feel' and delicious in every way. Staff are long serving, compassionate and dedicated. They treat residents exactly the way family want and expect them to be treated.

Rooms are nice and comfortable. I have been able to bring my own pictures and mirrors and prints etc. All the staff are helpful and have a good laugh and chat, which is appreciated.

These points are for improvement to a good care plan!
* Care in general is very good, but would be improved by:
- Information regarding personal care is not always accessible, often taking weeks of asking before any notable response or action taken.
- Food is often unrecognisable and with very odd
mixtures on the same plate eg. mash with lasagne and fish/chips too!
- A lack of gravy, sauce or custard makes dry stodgy food very hard to chew/swallow, often requiring some liquid to be poured over it to make it edible.
- People left in rooms/communal areas alone, rather than with others.
