Nestled in a quiet residential spot not far from the centre of Chelmsford, the home welcomes anyone in need of nursing, residential, convalescence, respite and palliative care. They also offer support for those living with a physical disability.

The home offers bright and homely interiors with ensuite bedrooms. Large landscaped gardens, a bright sun loggia and a furnished patio area that provide the ideal setting to relax. Equipped with a 24-hour call system, the highly trained staff and experienced staff are always on hand to provide professional care and support.

Residents can enjoy views of the garden during mealtimes in the dining room. The chef manager ensures that all residents’ nutritional needs are met with appetising meals created by the home’s dedicated chef.

My mother-in-law arrived at the lawns in June 2015 following an accident resulting in a broken hip. From the time she arrived she was made to feel welcome and all the staff ensured she was made comfortable and her needs were catered for in an efficient manner. The manager was very helpful in ensuring
that everything was satisfactory and the staff gave every attention to our mothers medical and emotional needs. Unfortunately she passed away and the family were treated with great respect and consideration following an upsetting time for us. I would definitely recommend this nursing home to family and friends. A first class service all round.

The home is just what mum requested. Her own room, beautiful view of the gardens, good food and good care. Just a couple of issues. (Already discussed with staff and manager.) The home is not as peaceful and quiet as advertised. We were told no dementia residents unfortunately mum can hear constant
calling "help me, help me", "I need a nurse". There are residents with dementia issues there, mum gets worried as she cannot get to help them! I am also a little concerned of the ratio of nurses to residents. There appears to be a lack during the day and at night. Mum says it takes a long while for the staff to come when she presses the buzzer. These residents are high dependency and need the right staff numbers to give the adequate care.

Very good care home. Involved in resident and relative meeting. Mum has only been there six weeks she was very frightened, confused and not sure about anything. She now has some confidence back eating and drinking well. Her memory has improved. She now goes to the dining room for lunch and has become
more talkative. Interacts with other house mates and staff. A big thank you to all the staff for their time and support with mum. She needs a lot of encouragement. Beautiful home wonderful food! all the staff courteous and helpful. Well done all! One issue more nurses needed day and night on each floor. Mum says she has to wait quite a while when she uses the nurse call button! There are many patients constantly calling for help.

The lawns has recently undergone a change in management. Since the new manager has taken over there has been a vast improvement across the board but particularly in respect of the activities. Prior to this our ratings would have been somewhat lower but now we (and most importantly, mother who is the
resident) are very pleased with the standard of care, activities and appearance of the home. Staff are excellent, always kind, friendly and take a personal interest in the residents. Mother has been at The Lawns for just over a year now and although we have no other comparisons, from our initial research and visits to other homes, we feel certain that we made the right choice.

My mother was admitted to 'The Lawns' in January 2013 following a four week stay in Broomfield hospital. She had pressure sores and a horrific leg injury after several years in a local care home and malnutrition. The steady improvement in her overall condition is entirely due to her care at The Lawns,
the staff from management to carers, nurses and domestic is of the highest standard. Nothing is ever too much trouble and anything which might be a problem is discussed and promptly dealt with. It is a pity that more homes are not of the same high standard.

We all do like the home for mum. The home is well maintained and the gardens are much better than two months ago. The staff are very friendly and kind.
