Was really impressed with this home for the little time my uncle was in here. The staff were always friendly and willing to help. They took time to spend with patients and their family. The food and drinks were of a high standard too. The nurses and management were kind and helpful. The entertainment
man was really lovely too and helped stimulate the resident's minds to keep active.

Parklands were absolutely fantastic for my mum. Giving her the best care she could possibly have and maintaining her dignity. The input from all the staff were amazing. I feel so happy that Parklands made my mum's last weeks as comfortable as they could. My overall standard of her care was excellent
and would highly recommend Parklands Nursing Home as the best place to be for your loved ones. Thank you to everyone involved at Parklands.

I just want to say the quality of care given by everyone was amazing. My mother was looked after so well and her final moments were calm and with dignity. It is a very jolly place to be thanks to the staff who make it like that. I take great comfort in knowing the last few weeks of my mother's life
were comfortable and pain-free. Excellent does not begin to say how I feel about Parklands.

My mother entered Parklands Nursing Home as an emergency for end of life care. She was only there for 4 days before she was transferred to hospital.
The care she received and empathy to us was exemplary.
Thank you to all the staff.

My uncle was at Parklands in December 2018 but beforehand he was in a few care homes in Basildon and Southend and this was by far the worst experience we have had as a family. To start with carer’s in green uniforms were giving out medication when they shouldn’t be because we overheard a carer saying
to a nurse they shouldn’t be giving the medication out, the manager is rude in the way she spoke to myself, my family, other staff and residents. The nurses are extremely rude, some of them make you feel like you shouldn’t be there and they are not supportive in any way! The food is diabolical and there isn’t much choice at all, the place is dirty although they have cleaners, the lamp shades are all full of dust, marks on the carpets, and you can tell they don’t pull beds and furniture out and clean on a regular basis. All the carers are lovely but there seems to be a real issue on nights with lack of carers and so much to do they are running around left, right and centre.

My husband recently passed away in the nursing home. Over the nearly 2yrs he was there he was always treated with respect and dignity. During the last week of his life they were even more attentive to his needs as they changed. The love they showed, not just to him, but also myself is priceless. They
always had time for me despite their busy day. The nurses had all his end of life care in place ready for when it was needed.

The carers were amazing for my father in law who was there for end of life care, however, I found one of the nurses extremely rude and the way she spoke to her staff was disgusting and disrespectful! Management needs help as well as the place does not move smoothly and you can tell they are short staffed
on days and night. At one point I was staying at night with the family and my father in law needed a pad changed and there were no carers about, the whole place was empty, they then came to us about an hour later apologising saying they were on pad round upstairs so downstairs will be empty as there isn’t enough staff, it was disgusting.

The staff at Parklands Nursing Home was amazing with mum. Mum was terminally ill and went in for end of life care. Mum went in very anxious. The staff made her feel safe with dignity. The staff are very caring and I can't express enough of the support for my sister, mum and me. I cannot recommend this
nursing home enough. I would even move in there myself.

My 47-year-old son spent just over two weeks at this wonderful establishment as he passed away here after a two year battle against terminal brain cancer. I was so impressed by the kindness, willingness to help and the professional manner of all the staff, from those who cleaned the rooms, provided
meals, did laundry, through carers, nurses and manager. Being an animal lover, it moved me to see dogs coming in to visit their humans, how very special.
I was sure it was against the rules, but when I climbed into my son's bed to hold him close towards the end, no one reprimanded me or told me to get off the bed. I was able to cuddle my dying child in my arms many times as his time drew closer. Moments I will treasure forever.
Thank you Parklands staff for your friendliness to this "foreigner!"You are all earth angels.

From the moment my Mum arrived at the home in July 2016 following a stroke she has been given so much love, care, affection and dignity. The food choice is varied as is the drink. If residents don't like what is in front of them they are offered something different straight away. Always being encouraged
to eat and drink. Cleanliness is spot on so are the cleaners. All staff across the board are brilliant. Medication is given with precision. I highly recommend this nursing home.

Top quality care in virtually every aspect.

All staff are absolutely fantastic over a period of 3 and a half years.

Very slight reservation regarding ease of access to computerised care records/plans and discussion of same.

I would like to thank all staff for there professionalism in the way they looked after my dad. I have never met so many staff who are so focused on their residents and wellbeing.
I found Parklands Home to be of a very high standard in the way staff mix and talk to residents and was always welcoming
visitors.
If you are in need of care for a loved one then please, please look no further.
For me I had peace of mind knowing my dad was getting the care he needed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
THANK YOU SO MUCH PARKLANDS you’re staff are a true credit to you.

Excellent! Heartfelt care comes straight to my mind. My mum and I were at the end of our tether trying to find a care home to accept my grandad who we had cared for until he tragically lost his wife and was needing full-time care for his dementia. My grandad cannot speak and it was so difficult trying
to explain to different care homes his needs and we were declined so many times, until we met a lovely nurse and senior carer at Parklands - they listened and understood us and exactly what grandad's needs were. My grandad is nearing to end of life care now and the compassion and kindness he is receiving are second to none. We are informed of any changes to him regularly and all the staff cannot do enough for us. I have never seen so many staff in my life. I have a nursing background and am aware of the standards that should be in place and Parklands exceeds these. If you are looking for a calm, well staffed, caring, compassionate care home then look no further.

My mum came to Parklands straight from hospital. We did not realise until mum arrived that she would never be returning to her home. Mum had reached the stage of her illness where it was sadly the end of the road. The manager and all staff were just wonderful and took care of her, and helped us come
to terms with how poorly our mum was. We couldn't have hoped for a better place for our mum to spend her last months. We will always be grateful for the care, love and devotion mum received.

My dad has been suffering with his dementia for some time and received suboptimal care it has to be said before he was rescued by Parklands Nursing Home in March. The first time I walked in to see Dad, I couldn’t believe how many carers there was present. Their rapport with the residents was amazing
and the care they were giving was outstanding and a pleasure to witness. With regards to my dad, nothing was too much trouble, even down to constantly wiping away his dribbling. As his condition has deteriorated, the care and support from the nurses has been very comforting. Explaining the significance of his walking as being the last shred of his independence, was humbling and thought-provoking. With a nursing background myself, I believe the care delivered to my dad is nothing but outstanding.

We found this home after being absolutely traumatized by the harrowing treatment my Dad received at a previous care home.
At Parklands Nursing Home, he has received nothing but excellent nursing care, received extra nourishing, delicious meals because the staff recognised his need to gain weight. The
carers are absolutely living up to their name giving my Dad the most caring, dignified and professional care they can. They are all fantastic with all the time to spare to alleviate any worries we have about his condition. I really can't praise them enough.
This is an absolutely welcoming and friendly home that starts at the front desk when you enter the building. Always a welcoming smile.
Well done Parklands - you got it right! Could even show some others how it should be done.

Thank you!!

Parklands rescued my dad from the most disgusting home that should not even be allowed to open the doors. We had tried many homes to move dad to but we were declined. We called in Parklands no appointment, and received a warm welcome, a lovely senior carer showed us around, I was lost for words it is
the most calming, well organised, clean, spacious, accommodating, and the amount of staff was so lovely to see. We then spoke to a lovely nurse. I knew this is where my dad should be, and we count our blessings every day that they took my dad. I cannot express how humble I am to the wonderful staff who work so hard and most Of all are so lovely to all the residents in this what I can only describe as the best home I have seen. I have visited so many I can't tell you how many. Every day I visit it is so lovely to see my my dad clean well kept and respected by these caring people. Thank you Parklands from the bottom of my heart for the care you give my dad.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.483)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.483) out of 10 for Parklands Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.942 for Parklands Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (81 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 86 Ratings = 4.942

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.541 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Parklands Nursing Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 registered maximum number of service users is 10.8. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.8 = 0.741

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
