Mum has been a resident at Primecare Vange for over three months now and the care she has received has been nothing short of exceptional. Even departments such as the Cleaning team have taken time to sit in her room and talk to her and even do things like mend her phone and television. I must admit
that I often feel rather a nuisance when I ask the Catering team for a cup of tea for Mum when they are really busy, but it is always readily delivered with a smile. Another thing I like about Primecare is the interaction between the residents and the staff - every single day there is always a different event taking place in the communal lounge area, whether it's a quiz, or an exercise class or singers coming to perform - none of the residents are just left to languish! So, from the general manager down (she also assists wherever needed when they are short of staff as well) I would thoroughly recommend this superb care to anyone.

All staff are very helpful. Whenever we asked them they straight away helped us. The lovely senior team especially three of them in particular keep us updated about Mom's care and well-being. We are very happy that the senior team never let the care team down and provided the best quality of care possible.
The managers lead their team in well professional manner with no compromise to the care aspect.

The care home is now being run well my mum has been there for 18 months.
There have been a couple of management changes and staffing appears to be an issue with continuous changes.
However despite the changes my mum is being well looked after, her dietary needs are reviewed monthly and any issues/accidents
are reported to me immediately.
The carers there are kind and thoughtful, my only disappointment is that the community member of staff does not stay long. They have good ideas and get residents engaged then leave.
The staff has now organised events during the month which are good.

It is comforting to know that Dad is in a caring, clean, professional, and happy care home.
The rooms/equipment/furnishings are fairly modern & well looked after. The cleaning regime is excellent, and a continuous operation - I have chatted to several cleaners they genuinely enjoy working here and
being key to the overall team.
Nursing - it must be challenging frustrating hard work at times, yet the nurses are clearly happy, diligent, kind & respectful to the residents. They keep Dad clean, fed, and watered, clean pyjamas every day, and he is being well looked after.
The senior nurses, three in particular & others are all very professional, keep me informed by phone & talk knowledgeably about Dad's care & condition. When I visit the deputy manager, running the care team, this gives me confidence that Dad is being cared for to a high standard.
It's a difficult time for the family, but a visit to see Dad is always helped by seeing this happy team at work and talking to them.

It is never easy to have to put your loved one into the care of others. However I found the care home to be spotlessly clean on a daily basis and the staff warm and friendly and hard working. There were no restrictions to visiting hours and we were often given tea and biscuits during visits. Any problems
or concerns were quickly addressed and resolved and the team kept us fully informed at all times when the health and care needs of Mum needed to be attended to. Mum was always treated with dignity and respect. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home.

My husband was in Primecare for almost two years. The first year was good, then the staff changed. Two managers resigned and also dedicated carers were aware of the needs of residents.
Then the residents were in a situation where new staff didn't know them and the "care"; element had gone. They go
through the motions but there seems to be no empathy with residents or family. They say the right things but it doesn't translate into meaningful action.
As an example the care staff were all aware of my husband's condition (dementia and Parkinson's) and his inability to walk but a walking frame was placed in front of his armchair. He tried to rise from the chair in an attempt to use the frame clearly thinking it had been placed there for him, he would not have done so quietly and the staff in the room would have heard him. He fell and was hospitalised with severe bruising and injuries. He died shortly afterwards.
Do not put trust in this home.

My nan has been at PrimeCare for just over a year now. Cannot fault the staff are in any way, they are attentive and always go above and beyond to ensure residence requirements are met. The whole building is spotless and Nan tells me the food is very good as well, the staff have even gone out of their
way to get her special requests when she didn’t fancy anything from the menu. They have even decorated her room to make her feel comfortable and feel
Like home. This has taken a great burden off myself and helps to know she is cared for and comfortable. Thank you to all at PrimeCare.

This care home will sell you the idea of an immaculate care home with the residents made to feel like they are at home. Do not be fooled! In 18 months my grandparent encountered 3 new managers and numerous turnover of care staff, along with an endless supply of agency staff who did not have an ounce
of care and compassion.
I have witnessed residents being outrightly ignored and left to wet themselves in the lounge.
My grandparent was meant to have 1 on 1 care for a period of time yet were found outside, fallen over a bannister and in need of an ambulance, they were not found for a considerable amount of time.
There are a few members of staff that are amazing but they cannot balance out the utter disgrace that is Primecare.
The managers, current and previous all need reporting.

Reply from The Manager, Home Manager at Primecare

I would like to sincerely apologize for the experience that your grand parent and your family received under our care. Our aim is always to provide the best possible care to all our residents and building trusting relationships with the families involved. I would like to ask if possible when it is most convenient for yourself to please come along for us to discuss this matter further in order for us to fully investigate and improve our service quality, alternatively if it is not possible to visit the home please kindly send me an email at primecaremanager@select-group.co.uk. I would be most grateful to discuss concerns in person.

Once again I sincerely apologize for the concerns raised, I do thank you for the review and feedback, hope to hear from you soon.

Kindest Regards - Christina ( Home Manager)

Thank you, Primecare Vange.
I cannot praise the home enough. The staff are wonderful, and nothing is too much trouble. It's always so clean. My mum's room is always spotless, and her clothes are put away in order. The activity gentleman is always planning activities for them to do. He has such a lovely
personality. I love the way he interacts with our mum, age 95 years.
The food is always cooked and presented well. Thank you so much to each and every staff member.

My mother had been a resident since 2012 and throughout these years she had received excellent care and attention, not only to her physical but also her mental welfare.
We as a family wish to express our gratitude and thanks to all the care home staff for their dedication in providing my mother with
the dignity and respect that she deserved. Many thanks again to you all.

My sister had been a resident from November 2017 until her death today - unfortunately, in hospital with no criticism to the home- the care she received at the home was exemplary and even though she found life in a community setting difficult she was treated with respect care and dignity. I know she
was not the easiest of residents, she wasn’t that easy with me, but she really did appreciate all you did for her. Many thanks for all you did for her. Please convene our thanks to all the staff,

Current Review Score: 8.3 (8.303)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.3 (8.303) out of 10 for Primecare is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.0 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 3.989 for Primecare is calculated as follows: ( (47 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (12 Poors x 2) + (5 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 92 Ratings = 3.989

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.314 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Primecare is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.4 = 0.714

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
