Welshwood Manor is an independently owned residential care home situated within the beautiful and leafy Welshwood Park Estate, Colchester.

Welshwood Manor is a medium-sized care home and as such maintains a homely feel where each resident is known by every member of staff and attended to with a person-centred approach.

The team provide care and support with warmth, love and dignity and also a friendly, listening ear for residents’ loved ones, too.

The activity co-ordinator, supported by the wider care team, hosts a range of group and one-to-one activities throughout the week, meaning there is always something fun going on, with a focus on making life meaningful every day.

Carers pride themselves on providing an environment in which the residents are comfortable and one they can call home. All staff have excellent English language skills with years of experience working within the Health and Social sector.

There is a hair salon on site, a conservatory looking out to the courtyard garden and a large rear landscaped garden with spectacular views over the countryside which make for a relaxing and peaceful setting.


All meals are home cooked, with regular resident meetings where everyone has an input into designing seasonal menus.

Always a friendly welcome at the door. Carers are kind, patient and friendly. Efficient and very respectful of residents' wishes and needs.
Warm, comfortable and varied areas where residents can choose to sit with a very pleasant accessible well-kept garden. Varied activities during the week. Meals
well prepared and presented with snacks, hot and cold drinks always available. All residents appear to be well cared for overall and comfortable in this residential home.

My wife was a resident here for 9 months. The home has a relaxed, open, friendly feel. The staff are caring, friendly, understanding and helpful. All of this is a reflection on the welcoming attitude of the relatively new management team who are striving to improve the home and the whole experience
for the residents. I would recommend this home under its current leadership.
It helps that the home is situated in a quiet, semi-rural area, with a pleasant garden and easy access.

My mum has been a resident here since August 2021. She is very well looked after by kind, caring and compassionate staff. The home is very well managed by people who have the residents' best interests at heart as well as ensuring the long-term security of the facility. Access to the senior team is good
and conversations are conducted professionally, respectfully and with good humour. I was fortunate to know a family whose loved ones had benefited from being placed at this home, so when making a choice for my own mum, I was always confident that she would be safe, secure and well looked after. I recommend this home.

Mum has been a resident here for a year and loves it. The staff are lovely and very caring and considerate and look after mum well. When she moved in her physical and mental health had declined but she has improved here. She feels secure and supported which has helped.
Welshwood Manor is in lovely
quiet surroundings and is well-maintained. I would recommend it.

My friend has been at the home since February 2023. She is relatively young (55yrs). We have been facing a number of health issues and the complications that brings. All of the staff are patient and kind to both of us. The journey is a tough one but made bearable by the staff who have shown me fantastic
support as well as my friend.
My friend will say she loves the food especially the roasts and at this time strawberry milkshake. Everywhere is wonderfully clean and I feel safe in the knowledge that she is being cared for with respect and dignity.

My overall feeling of Welshwood Manor is very good. The food seems fine and the gardens and surroundings are very nice. My Mum is very happy there and now she has plenty of company and is looked after by the lovely staff.

The home is warm and welcoming and the garden is superb; when weather is inclement it can be enjoyed from the conservatory or, weather permitting, you can sit out and enjoy it. The staff are brilliant with my father, he was admitted in September 2022 and I couldn’t wish for a better placement for him.
The care he gets is impeccable.

I have been a resident at Welshwood Manor since January 2022, I could not have picked a better home. I have been in other care homes but none compare to this one. The food is marvellous and I enjoy every meal. I thoroughly enjoy the activities and the staff are all amazing. I am so happy here.

The staff at the Welshwood Manor have shown great care and compassion for Mum as she begins to come to terms with the loss of Dad who died with her at his side in the home in December. They have encouraged Mum to integrate with other residents and to take part in activities. The staff have also ensured
that Mum's increasingly complex care needs are monitored and arranged the interaction of physio and occupational therapy. All staff continue to show all of us great understanding after the loss of Dad. Thank you.

My sister has been at Welshwood Manor for just over a year. She’s so happy and content, it’s a delightful visit every time, seeing her face light up when I visit. She calls all the staff family and says she loves them all. She enjoys the activities, especially bingo. There is always lots of fun and

The staff, I find, are so caring for both my husband and myself, as his wife. We often have issues with my husband's eating and drinking but guided and supported by the care and patience of the staff his needs are looked after. It was a difficult decision to move my nana into a care home, but she has now been settled at Welshwood Manor for almost two years. During that time, the care staff have shown her kindness and compassion, treated her with dignity and looked after her physical and emotional needs to the highest standard.
The home is clean and welcoming, and the care staff ensure she is happy. They treat her like family, and I could not wish for more. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I would wholeheartedly recommend Welshwood Manor.

Welshwood Manor is a welcoming residential home. All staff are friendly, caring and genuinely care about their residents.
Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff and they try to put you at ease at all times.

My mother spent the last month of her life at Welshwood Manor. From the moment we arrived via ambulance we could not ask for anything more. The staff were amazing - kind, caring and always with a happy demeanour. Not only to Mum but to all the family that visited. Mum loved the chats about her life
and family - people took time with her and were genuinely interested. The day she died everyone was so very nice. I would truly recommend any family member to this fabulous care home.
