Windle Court is located in a quiet residential area of South Woodham Ferrers. Once inside this purpose built home the conservatory offers the views of the raised flower beds, whilst most of the rooms look out onto lawned areas. There is also a smaller unit, Jasmine Lodge, set in the grounds.

Rooms are all en-suite with wall-mounted TV's as standard, but it is your choice how your room is set and which of those precious items you wish to bring. It is only then the transformation is complete and this home is then your home.

Since my wife came into Windle Court she has become happy and an absolute joy to visit as this has not always been the case in the past. The carers who look after my wife really care about her well-being and dignity. Long may she remain here.


Her room is outstanding. The food is of very good quality.

The home is run like a welcoming family unit and always make me very welcome.

I visit Windle Court 3 times a week and have been for some time to visit a very good friend with her husband. I work in the care industry so I can be very critical in my opinion. I must say about Windle Court the home and staff are outstanding. Staff go above and beyond the tasks, they are given or
expected to do. Very caring. patient, friendly, helpful they treat the residents with dignity and respect.

Our overall experiences since my mother going into Windle Court in December 2015 was good and staff very attentive over the last few months as her health deteriorated. In that time management has changed twice which has been very unsettling for staff but feel from a relative's point of view the management
are moving in the right direction. The night staff on my mother's last night were excellent as had been those on shift all day and all were also very supportive to the family, but the support of the day staff had been particularly caring for many weeks leading up to her death.
Recently I had grave concerns about staffing levels at the weekend which I raised 3 weeks ago. I was told this would be looked into.

As a family we have been very happy with the care mum received while at Windle Court. The staff have always been friendly, helpful and considerate, to us as well as to mum. I was kept well informed about any needs or concerns there were for mum and asked for my permission if there was any change needed
for mum's care.
The home is clean, comfortable and well maintained.
I only ever saw the carers treat all the residents with respect and dignity. There is a friendly, happy atmosphere in the area of the home where mum was placed.
When mum was dying the care she, and our family, received couldn't have been better.

My mother has been living in Windle Court for 6 months. She was very agitated when she arrived but with help and kindness from the excellent staff, she has accepted that this is her home. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and I cannot praise too highly how gentle and patient they are. Even
the domestic staff know the residents by name and stop and chat to them. Family are welcome to visit at any time and are also invited to many of the activities taking place. Two full-time events staff ensure that there are activities morning and afternoon including visits from children, animals and days out. My mother went to her first music festival this year! One organised especially for dementia sufferers. The food is excellent and plentiful, there are no agency staff and the new manager is very present. She listens to any problems, takes the comments on board and makes the required changes.

My father was only a resident at Windle Court for a short period of time and we were new to this situation and concerned about how he would settle in the home. We need not have worried at all, as from the first time we visited the home, we were made very welcome and all the staff were extremely happy
and helpful which put our minds at rest immediately. Sadly he was only a resident for 5 days before passing away. Again the staff were so supportive to us a family and they treated dad with the utmost dignity, respect and professionalism. While a resident at Windle Court, my father was the most content he had been for some months. We would have no hesitation in recommending Windle Court to anyone in the same situation.

Praising the staff for their professionalism and friendly manner.
This is the first time she has said she would like to go back next time I go away which is, indeed, praise in itself.

Windle Court has been my mother's home for the last three years. Residents are all encouraged to spend time with others and join in activities, but if they are like my Mum and prefer their own company and like to stay in their own rooms, that's fine too. There is always someone popping in, carers, the
laundry ladies and cleaners all offering a cheery chat. Mum has a keyworker who has been with her from the beginning. She is marvellous with Mum and always has time to listen to any worries I may have. I trust them completely. As Mum's dementia has got worse she can be moody and difficult. This was not her nature before the dementia and it has been hard to watch her deterioration. However, I have only ever seen patience and kindness towards her. I am kept informed of any problems and health issues and fully involved with any changes to her care. There have been a few management changes recently which is a shame, as it can unsettle the staff, but in my opinion, this has not affected the high standard of care offered to my mother.

Due to constant changes of staff and the use of agency staff, I feel that the standard of care has deteriorated. I have no problem with permanent staff, and feel for them as the hours of work are horrendous, sometimes without a break, and the staff ratio for residents is really inadequate.

Windle does provide basic physical care needs. However, mental stimulation and conversation is hit and miss, mainly miss!
Our mum went into care at 101 years of age, she is now 103.
In Windle Mum suffered a fall and broken femur. She recovered well from surgery. Later she suffered a stroke, she recovered
from this also. Mum was mentally well before going into care, although physically she is immobile, deaf with poor sight. She is now getting forgetful, depressed and a little confused and she needs mental stimulation to help her. Conversation is lacking, most carers do not have the time to attract Mum's attention and speak to her. However, there are a few carers who take the time with her. The CTM and two carers are really good, but they are not on duty every day.
Mum stays in her room; her wheelchair is too uncomfortable to sit in for long. Hence events in the home pass her by. She misses out on the manicures in the lounges, so her daughter in law does this now. On rare occasions an event is bought into her room, such as visiting animals, this really does help her.

The staff have been extremely helpful and caring in settling Dad into his new home. After living with me for 12 years it has been upsetting us as a family that we can no longer care for Dad/Granddad. Hello, my name is Lorraine, and I am the home manager at Windle Court Residential Home based in South Woodham Ferrers.


I have been the home manager since December 2020 at Windle Court and worked for Runwood Homes since 2009.


Windle Court is a 76-bed purpose-built residential home providing 26 rooms on our poppy suite on the ground floor and 36 rooms on our sunflower suite on the first floor. We also have Jasmine which is a purpose-built senior living private suite suitable for independent or for those who require minimal care.


All rooms have ensuite facilities, all suites have their lounges, dining areas and communal facilities. We provide a hairdressing, chiropody and newspaper service and a full activities calendar which includes, weekly cooking, arts & crafts, live entertainment, and minibus trips, just to mention a few. We have a lovely café which is very popular with residents and visitors we also have outdoor space to accommodate summer BBQs, gardening club and fetes when the weather permits.


Windle Court has a cinema room, which is very popular with the residents; this allows them to relax with a glass of wine and a good movie.

I am the Deputy Manager at Windle Court. I have worked here for the past 10 years, i first started in the home as a carer and have progressed to become the Deputy manager in the last year which was always my ambition.


I am kind, and caring and provide support to the staff, residents, families and visitors. I am a champion in the home for manual handling, end-of-life, medication and health and safety.


I have achieved my NVQ level 3 in health and social care and currently working towards achieving my level 4.

Hi, I'm Kerry I am the financial administrator for Windle Court. I have been here for over 4 years and I look after all aspects of administrative responsibilities along with looking after all the staff.


I am responsible for all onboarding of new staff to ensure all documentation is legislative and CQC compliant. I am also the home's training champion my role is to help drive staff to ensure all Runwood mandatory training is up to date. I also encourage staff to voluntary participate in additional training to help them progress in their role.
