Staff were most friendly. The help given for rehab was beneficial to recover. Food menu was excellent but they would give you your own choice required.

I arrived on a Friday evening straight from hospital and from my reception most welcoming and was given food and drink. I was unable to walk having suffered with a serious food poisoning but after a few days with the excellent experience I was walking again and within two weeks without a frame then
no stick.
All the staff here have been so kind and helpful especially the staff.

Our family found the care given to be very good, enabling my father, aged 90, to be able to go home after 2 1/2 weeks. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. Food was excellent quality/

My mother has benefitted greatly from Uplands, the physio, in particular, has made a fantastic improvement to her mobility.
The food is very good and varied, the staff caring and friendly.
The rooms are clean, light and airy.
The main area for feedback and improvement is that the board alerting staff
to residents is above where residents sit. It beeps and buzzes, causing those who are hard of hearing not to be able to focus on the television/radio or a conversation with relatives.
Could this be moved?

Reply from Akash Soni, Owner at Uplands Rehabilitation Centre

Thank you for your much-appreciated feedback. Unfortunately, the central monitor for the nurse call system cannot be relocated as this would then be near bedrooms and cause disturbance to all residents at night. Nevertheless, this feedback has been noted and we will try to be more aware of situations where the nurse call alerts are disturbing residents whilst they are in the lounge. Please note there are two other lounges available for use which do not have a Nurse Call display unit. Assuring you of our best of attention at all times.

Very happy with Mum's care. Staff are so lovely and friendly, always happy and encouraging. Always able to get updates on Mum, on the phone always polite and helpful and reassuring.
Food amazing! Lovely place.
Rehab didn't quite get Mum up and about. Could probably have done with a bit longer.

The staff at this centre are truly wonderful.
They are always happy and smiling and nothing is too much for any of the residents. Constant encouragement is given to all. The facilities are very good and comfortable and the physiotherapists work hard to rehabilitate residents.

Mum came here from hospital following surgery on a broken leg. The day she arrived she was unable to walk at all and found it difficult to stand by herself.
She has been at the centre now for just over 2 weeks and can now walk across the room using either her crutches or walking frame, something we
didn't think we'd ever see her do in such a short time.
The physios here have been great with Mum, working her very hard which is what she needs and she really likes them both and feels comfortable with them.
All the nurses and staff have been amazing and we can't fault any of them - in fact, we don't think she'd have recovered had she not come here.
A big thank you to everyone involved in Mums care, keep it up, you're all fabulous!

My cousin who is 94 was transferred from hospital to Uplands. She was treated with respect and utmost care especially as she was blind and profoundly deaf. Communication was difficult but all staff were patient with her disabilities. As we live 90 miles away and could only visit now and again I felt
that she was in safe hands. Well done Uplands.

Rather confused, I didn't know what had happened. I was found on the floor of my kitchen and taken to the local hospital. A week later I was transferred to Uplands, a nice looking building, well kept and beautifully clean.
Physiotherapists were good, explaining what they were doing and why. Food excellent,
menu well thought out and beautifully presented.
Staff plentiful, all very pleasant and helpful. On the whole a calm, happy atmosphere, helping clients to calm down.
A good experience and happy outcome.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.478)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.478) out of 10 for Uplands Rehabilitation Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.578 for Uplands Rehabilitation Centre is calculated as follows: ( (82 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 116 Ratings = 4.578

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Uplands Rehabilitation Centre is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 23 registered maximum number of service users is 4.6, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
