Brendoncare Alton is a care home set in attractive, mature gardens. Its design enables the provision of high quality care within a welcoming and homely environment.

The care home provides nursing care, dedicated dementia care and end of life care for 80 people. Respite stays are also available, offering short breaks which are suitable for those recovering from an illness, a hospital stay or whilst regular carers take a break.

The varied menus provide healthy, wholesome, appetising food which is all freshly cooked on site. The catering team talks to the residents to ensure they are accommodating all their requirements. They are proud to hold a 5 star food hygiene rating with the Food Standards Agency (May 2023).

A full wellbeing and activities programme is provided to ensure residents stay active and continue to lead enriched lives.

Brendoncare's Care for Life ensures that once welcomed into the care home, a permanent resident will not be asked to leave other than in exceptional circumstances.

My cousin was diagnosed with Dementia at the end of May 2023 and moved into the care of Brendoncare Alton. Sadly she passed away on 02/10/23 but during her stay at Alton the care, consideration of her wishes and friendship of the staff were exemplary. As was their friendship and kindness to me, for
which I thank them.

My mother was resident in Brendoncare Alton for nearly 5 years.
As a retired nurse I fully appreciated the high standard of nursing care she received particularly during her final few weeks. Everyone from reception to the carers were outstanding and could not have done more for either my mother or
her relatives.
The general atmosphere within the home was a very happy one.

The care my mother receives at Brendoncare Alton Care Home is excellent. The staff do a fantastic job caring for her. Although Mum doesn't always join in with activities, it is not from lack of encouragement. Recently, she went to the seaside and had a wonderful day.
It is hard to admit you cannot
care for your loved one but Brendoncare is the very best place for her.

This review follows 1 year on from my positive August 2022 review I wrote.


Brendon Alton continue to provide excellent care for my uncle as his condition has advanced and worsened. All the staff I know are friendly, helpful, well trained and importantly 'caring'.


A huge thanks to the team in the

Foyle dementia house, thank you for the hard work you put in, in a very testing environment. Your skills and happy positive nature really help Uncle and me visiting.


Still highly recommended care home.

On moving into Brendoncare Alton on Monday 31st July, my wife, a retired doctor, announced that she felt comfortable and safe. The standard of nursing on Chawton ward has been outstanding and delivered with love and cheerfulness. She died peacefully on 14/08/2023. My sincere thanks to all at Brendoncare.

My husband is being cared for in Brendoncare Alton Care Home on "Ropley" and has been, and is, well looked after. The staff are fantastic under sometimes difficult circumstances. My husband has eating problems and the patience of the staff in trying different diets is first-class.

I was grateful at the speed at which my necessary respite care was arranged at short notice. The care staff were exceptional and always there to talk with and always more than happy to assist whatever time it was, though staff obviously had to spend time with those with priority needs. There was delightful
banter and teasing between the staff and residents and each other, added to the real family atmosphere.

The staff in this spacious home are kind and friendly and work well together. The entertainment team have a varied weekly program of activities and encourages participation by the residents. Special events included a delightful Valentine's lunch for couples in a lovely party setting. The most challenging
group to engage in are the high-dependence units. Apart from the music, they respond best to individual attention which the cares do well but are very busy in other ways. I have been a volunteer visitor in another nursing home to chat, listen and help people to recall their memories - hold on to their personhood. Perhaps the entertainment team could think about leading such a small team here.

My mother was taken into care after a short time in the hospital, much to her initial upset, but within a very short time (two days) she suddenly realised that she had been struggling for some years, trying to be independent. The care and attention were beyond all of our expectations and she rapidly
felt that she was one of the family! As her condition worsened, she thought she was getting even more attention from the staff and felt very secure and safe.

Brendoncare Alton Care Home looked after my relative for two years. During that time they cared for her in mind and body. She enjoyed all the activities and loved the variety available. In her household, she felt safe and well cared for with the staff catering for her personal needs. In her last days,

My husband and I came here in March and have experienced such a help since then. We are extremely pleased that we decided to move from Essex, nearer our son and daughter-in-law who live nearby Farnham. We have not filled in all the ticks as we are fairly new members of this community and have not experienced

My father has been cared for in Froyle the dementia section of Brendoncare since November 2020.
The care from all staff, especially those running Froyle, has been fantastic, and their communication has been excellent.
The reception staff are very good and have dealt admirably with the extra duties
caused by Covid.
My father also mentions on every visit how lovely the staff are.

Joanne

Joanne Gullon

Job Title: General Manager

Joined: 2023

Jo Gullon joined as Brendoncare Alton’s General Manager in December 2023.


She brings with her more than 30 years of experience working in care. She started as a carer for people with learning disabilities before moving into domiciliary care. Jo then managed a series of care homes including ones for people living with dementia.


Jo firmly believes that a sense of family is vital to all of Brendoncare’s work, particularly for residents and teams in its care homes.

Cristina Calinescu

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Joined: 2018

Both my mother and my grandmother had a passion for caring and their dedication to helping other people inspired me to train as a nurse. I graduated in nursing in 2005, then took a Masters degree in Psychology and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in 2008. After having worked in two private settings, I started working in social care in 2015 and joined Brendoncare in 2018 as Deputy Manager. I am deeply passionate about making a positive impact in people's lives, especially in a field where understanding, empathy and support are crucial.


Outside work, I enjoy spending time with my family and watching my young daughter growing up and exploring the world around her. My husband restores classic cars and we enjoy going to car races and shows and have even won some international competitions.

Janet Graham

Job Title: Customer Relations Manager

Joined: 2017

My 12 years of social care experience have been mainly working for corporate nursing home providers in customer-facing roles supporting families seeking residential care for their loved ones. I joined Brendoncare in 2017 initially as a wellbeing coordinator, bringing fun and joy to residents’ lives through a range of activities. After a brief spell in 2019 working for another care provider, I returned to Brendoncare as Customer Relations Manager. This role involves supporting new residents and their families to ensure their move to a Brendoncare home goes as smoothly as possible.


I enjoy watercolour painting and entering amateur photography competitions. I love the smell of freshly cut grass and fragrant roses in my garden – appreciating the beauty of life’s simple pleasures means so much to me.

I have been working in health and social care since I left education in 2010 working with many sectors of different ages and abilities but my true passion lies with independent living due to their wittiness and not being afraid to tell you how it is!


I have a family of 2 and a Miniature Dachshund all of which keep me busy! I love to socialise and get involved in anything and everything! When I do have spare time, I enjoy swimming/walks and simply enjoying a glass of bubbles in the summer evenings.

I started at Brendoncare Alton in the summer of 2016 as a care assistant, I then progressed to a senior carer and I have now been doing the role of practice educator for just over 2 years. I enjoy supporting new starters and ensuring they all have a good concept of Brendoncare's core values.

I have been working in the public care sector since I was 18 years old having initially trained as a Dental Nurse. I have gained valuable experience in both clinical and administrative roles within a variety of settings including the NHS, hospice, mental health and the Police as a 999-call handler. One of my greatest achievements is gaining my Diploma in Healthcare Practice in Operating Department Practice.


I pride myself on my empathy and compassion and it gives me a huge sense of joy and achievement to help others in every aspect of their lives.


I have been with Brendoncare since November 2023 and have loved every second. I feel as though my working experience in so many different fields has brought me home. I work with a fantastic team who are incredibly passionate about our residents.


In my spare time I love to go for walks, visit the beach, spend time with my loved ones and watch Del Boy! Laughter is the best medicine.
