Dad has been a resident since January 2021, he has dementia and can be very challenging. The previous home could not cope with his behaviour and he was urgently placed in Colbury House Nursing Home (then in administration) by social services. He quickly settled down and it was clear from the outset
that the nurses and carers were far better at meeting his needs. New owners bought Colbury soon after and began refurbishing the tired interior and tatty exterior. The transformation of the house and grounds since has been very impressive and it is ongoing. The team managing Dad's declining physical and mental health are clearly well-trained and skilled in handling him. Colbury has a "homely" vibe which the residents respond to and the entertainment team go to great lengths to try and involve everyone in activities. My interactions with the management team, nurses, carers and cleaners have all been positive and they are responsive to requests and open to feedback. Communication with relatives is excellent.

I act as a personal representative for an elderly lady who has been residing at Colbury House Nursing Home for the past 18 months. The circumstances which lead up to the need for full-time nursing care came about very suddenly after her husband, who was her original carer, became unwell and later died.
Fortunately for the couple, Colbury House was able to offer both of them the level of care required at that time.
A short time before becoming a resident of the home, the home had been purchased by a new owner. He and his team have created and achieved a visible transformation. The experience of the level of care and cleanliness one receives is excellent. Considering the challenges the staff have endured recently with Covid and the ongoing alterations and improvements made they have all managed incredibly well. The moment one steps inside the home one notices an atmosphere full of positivity, friendliness, love and care. All the attributes of a successful care home.

Mum has been made very welcome since arriving at Colbury House Nursing Home 6 months ago. Almost as soon as she arrived, all the staff knew who she was and had been introduced. Mum has been enjoying the wide range of activities provided and trips out. The staff are always very willing to talk to the
family and answer our queries. The recent annual care review was very informative and very helpful.

The nursing home is great, very friendly atmosphere at all times, the staff are very friendly and very happy to help residents and visitors, always clean and tidy and lots of people and carers about.

My aunt then subsequently my uncle needed to be placed in emergency care and with the help of social services was fortunate to be offered a room at Colbury House Nursing Home. I cannot speak highly enough of the care they received. The staff are wonderful so friendly, willing and supportive not only
to the residents but relatives as well, nothing is too much trouble. Whilst they were there, I had peace of mind that their needs were being met and were being well cared for. When they left Colbury House Nursing Home they were stronger both mentally and physically and this was all down to the excellent care received.

My grandma came to Colbury House Nursing Home as a resident in July 2022. I can't thank all the staff enough for all the care, compassion and dignity they showed her and the high level of respect towards her and our family. Colbury involved all their residents in daily activities, had hairdressers and
church groups go in, and arranged days out for not just the residents but for their family members so that everyone felt included with their loved ones. Super friendly people took care of grandma which will forever be remembered. Thank you Colbury for making grandma feel part of your family.

When visiting a family resident, communication could be better, without having to seek out a member of the staff. It was sometimes a problem communicating with staff members. Also having access to password codes when visiting upstairs.

We did strive to communicate with you via email regularly whilst you were unable to come in over the past few years and visit your brother. It was sometimes a problem communicating with staff members due to us all having to wear facemasks and sometimes visors too, this was out of our control. Security is very important to us to make sure the safety of all of our residents is maintained to a high standard, passcodes are communicated to relatives upon arrival if required. We do have a lift that can be used by all relatives if required to access upstairs, and of course, come back down. We are disappointed that you felt you needed to use carehome.co.uk to give this feedback, especially as we have always been able to discuss any concerns directly. We acknowledge your comments and will reflect upon them.

Mum has been with Colbury House for over a year now and is very happy here. The staff and management are all very good, caring and approachable. Over this time it's very obvious money is being spent improving the facilities and garden. It's situated in a quiet area with great views from Mum's room where
she's seen deer, pheasants and various other wildlife. Guests are always made welcome, even to the extent of giving me a Xmas dinner when I was up there. Overall I would have no hesitation in recommending Colbury House to anyone. Thanks very much to all of them for making Mum's life as good as it can be in difficult circumstances.

At all times Colbury House has provided good care for my mum. The staff are friendly and welcoming and always available to listen and offer advice to relatives and residents.
Mum is well cared for and the team offer a good selection of activities.
The chef provides tailored meals for Mum to help
with weight management.
The actual building has been transformed in the last year with many improvements throughout.
Can't fault the care provided.

My Grandmother was transferred to Colbury house in May of this year and spent the end of her life here. What a place! I have never been to a care home that welcomes the whole family. I happily took our children to see her here and they enjoyed coming, that's quite an achievement I'd say! Also, the family
events are fabulous.
She was well cared for and it has a lovely atmosphere. Thank you for your kindness and care. A beautiful home for our elderly loved ones.

When our mum went to Colbury House Nursing Home she was extremely unsettled of where she was and who people were, but after a short period of time, she calmed down due to the quality of care and attention she received. The management, nursing staff and carers are all of a very high standard. Nothing
is too much trouble, as soon as Mum presses her buzzer they are there straight away. They have activities every day which Mum really enjoys. The food is also of a high standard and freshly made every day with fresh fruit and vegetables.
All the staff cater to all Mum's needs to a 5-star rating.

Very good staff, all very caring, treating the residents with dignity. Very easy to contact the nursing staff/managers with any worries you have. Excellent through Covid. They are working hard bringing the property up to a very high standard through refurbishment.

The managers and office staff are all very friendly and approachable. The other staff and carers are all very friendly and helpful. The nurses on site are lovely, and always happy to answer any concerns. I am extremely happy with the standard of care provided.

After 6 years in the social care sector, I started my career as a registered nurse, graduating from Southampton University in 2012. As a nurse, I then became active within the local community before moving into leadership and management.


My approach thrives on empowering my team and creating a collaborative and supportive work environment, all the while being dedicated to the residents under my care ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality care.


I’m passionate about creating a strong team culture, supporting staff to work to the level of their expertise and training and adapting to changing models of care. Making sure each nurse under my care is equipped to deliver a high level of service at all times.


I’m very family-orientated and enjoy spending time with the family, managing the children's hectic lives and enjoying days out. I’ve a particular interest in Theatre and gardening.

I’ve been working in care since I left school, studied for my nursing degree at Homerton College, Cambs and became a fully qualified nurse in March 2004.


I’ve since worked in Neuro Intensive Care, Trauma, Orthopaedics and Cardiac Catheter Labs.


After getting married and having 2 children, I moved to Southampton and continued my nursing career with further education at Southampton University.


In 2013 I became a practice nurse at a large GP surgery and became a specialist in diabetes, asthma, COPD and chronic heart disease.


I joined Colbury in 2021 as Deputy Manager, and am happy to celebrate 20 years as a registered nurse.
In my spare time I love to garden, go walking, and enjoy adventures in general. I also love to read.
