Latham Lodge enjoys an enviable reputation for delivering the very highest standards of residential, nursing and palliative care, on a permanent and short stay basis, in a homely and friendly environment in Purbrook.

The home manager has a qualified nursing background and the dedicated care team works very closely with each of the residents, their families and loved ones, to ensure personally tailored care plans are put in place.

Formerly a substantial 1930s family residence, Latham Lodge nursing home provides an environment that retains a real sense of home. The light and spacious environment offers a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. When the weather is fine, residents can enjoy the delightful gardens.

Latham Lodge is home to residents and the team never loses sight of that and residents are encouraged to bring important personal possessions to personalise their rooms.

Every person is part of the Latham Lodge family. The highly skilled nurses and carers take time to get to know all of the residents. They know their stories because they know how to listen, and because it is so important to them, it defines the services they offer.

By connecting with residents in this way, staff can ensure that they feel comfortable and happy. They are not there to take over lives, they are there to help live them, and always on hand with discreet assistance when required.

My Father was at Latham Lodge for almost 3 years, and both Dad & his family/visitors were looked after well & treated with kindness and courtesy, from EVERY member of staff.
Latham Lodge may not be the smartest looking Nursing Home compared to some of larger more 'hotel' looking care homes, but they
have what matters in abundance. A relatively small turnover of staff, Staff who are friendly, knowledgeable, kind & who REALLY look after their residents. The staff are what makes Latham Lodge a great place for your loved one.
I have no reservations in recommending this Care Home to you. Don't be put off by the look of the place from outside or the décor within. It's clean, and the staff are the absolute heart of the place.

With over 15 years of experience in the care industry, Kelly Bessey brings passion and dedication to her role as Home Manager at Latham Lodge. Her journey began in various care roles, from a night care assistant to Deputy Manager at Blenheim Court, where she honed her leadership and caregiving skills. Since joining Caring Homes in 2018, Kelly has consistently focused on providing person-centred care, empowering residents to live as independently and actively as possible.


She believes that every resident deserves dignity, respect, and a safe, nurturing environment. Her approach is holistic, considering not just the physical but also the psychological, spiritual, and emotional well-being of each individual. Her strong commitment to maintaining a warm, supportive atmosphere ensures that both staff and residents feel safe and secure.


A firm believer in leading by example, Kelly values quality over quantity in care and champions ongoing education and training for her team. Known for her honesty and open communication, she and her team earn the trust of residents and their families by providing compassionate, high-quality care.


Outside of work, Kelly is a devoted mother, grandmother and wife who enjoys gardening, DIY projects and supporting local community initiatives. Her personal motto, "Treat others how you want to be treated," reflects her deep commitment to her work and her residents.
