Hartwell Lodge is located half a mile from Fareham town centre and is set in an exclusive residential area. The home provides a range of quality care services including: residential, dementia, respite, nursing, palliative or end-of-life care and day care.

The bedrooms at Hartwell Lodge are individually decorated and have en-suite bathrooms, while a conservatory dining room adds light and airiness to the home. Residents have a choice of two lounges to reside in, depending on whether they choose to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet or participate in a variety of activities with other residents.

Activities are an extremely important part of the day-to-day life at Hartwell Lodge. A dedicated co-ordinator schedules a variety of activities for residents, which can be adapted to meet their needs. One-to-one activities can also be organised in the rooms of residents who are less able, if preferred.

Hartwell Lodge has trained cooks who provide freshly prepared, nutritious dishes at every mealtime. The meals can be adapted to suit the needs of each resident, whether it be a simple preference or a dietary requirement.

My mother, unfortunately, needed 24-hour care and as a family, after much looking, we chose Hartwell Lodge. For the short time she has been there we are extremely happy with the care she has received. And would not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone needing a very homely caring residential home.
This is their home after all now and this care home provides that.

My mum went into Hartwells and almost immediately afterwards my dad died. All the staff have been kind, thoughtful and caring. My mum has settled very quickly, made friends and is enjoying all the activities on offer. She loves her room, the food and speaks very fondly of Hartwells already. Knowing
that mum is happy, enjoying having company around her, having decent meals and is safe in such a lovely environment means that we don’t have to worry about her. It is absolutely perfect for her and us.

Mum came into the home 8 months ago in a poor state. Wheelchair-bound and with other medical problems. With the constant love and caring of very professional staff, she has settled well (now referring to her room as "her home"!). Having lived by herself for many years she now loves the opportunities
the home provides for social activities and joins in and enjoys most of them. She is a very strong and determined lady and has been helped and encouraged to get out of her wheelchair and now proudly walks around the house with a frame. - Not bad for someone of 96 years old! - A big thank you to all the staff for their loving, caring service.

Fantastic care home. Staff brilliant and really looked after my Mum. The Manager kept us informed throughout the entire time my Mum was there. Would highly recommend. Hopefully Mum won't need to return but if she does I would not worry about her being there. 10 stars out of 10.

The care my dad has received since going to Hartwell Lodge in May 2020, has been exceptional, the manager and most care staff are exceptional and are so kind and compassionate to my dad as well as my family. Nothing is to much for them to ensure my dad is well cared for and they go the extra mile often,
my dad always looks so well and happy! He looks the best he has in many years. I cannot thank Hartwell Lodge enough, they are truly amazing people. Thank you!

My father has been at the home since Feb 2020. We can see he is receiving very caring support from the care staff team. There is always a very friendly atmosphere in the home, with much evidence of positive activity for the residents. The managing staff are very committed and keep me well updated. So

Absolutely thrilled with the care my mother is receiving. Things were not good for Mum before she arrived here; now she is happy, putting on weight, looking forward to and enjoying her meals. She loves the staff, and they go out of their way to meet her needs. Can’t fault anything.

My uncle went to Hartwell Lodge for some respite care after a fall, he was apprehensive at first but he was made so welcome by all of the staff and was put at ease. The staff there are excellent, very caring, patient and understanding, as is the manager, she made sure everything was in place, medications
etc. The whole home has a very homely, bright, happy feel to it, it was very clean and my uncle said the food was fantastic (the food really did look good). The events coordinator is brilliant, they are so many activities that the residents can get involved in, and most of them do, and they love it. I was amazed at how lovely the staff are, always so friendly and they all made sure my uncle was clean, comfortable and happy. I can not stress enough what a really wonderful place this is. Should my uncle need further respite or need a home full time at some point, Hartwell Lodge will be our first choice.

We were really unsure about where to start when looking for a care home for 93-year-old grandad. When we rang Hartwell they said we were more than welcome to pop in at any time to have a look around and see what they had to offer. We were reassured by the 'anytime' availability as it ruled out them
putting on a show for our benefit. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by the manager and she showed us around and answered all our questions and gave us good advice. We were immediately aware of the friendly and homely feel of Hartwell Lodge. It is well laid out with easy access for the residents to move around the home. It is clean and tidy without being overly clinical.
Most importantly, Grandad loves it! He feels well looked after and gets the attention and care that he had begun to need. It is reassuring to his family knowing that he is cared for and there is always someone there if he needs anything.

My parents recently moved in, whilst upsetting for them and the whole family it was made so much easier by the wonderful staff who welcomed them so warmly! My mum has been at Hartwell Lodge for only a week. She had been in the hospital for over 3 months. So far she has settled in really well and all the staff have been so lovely to her.
The manager is very caring and has gone above and beyond to help my mum settle. For this, we are very grateful. My mum
has even started to eat little amounts as the food is so tempting!

My brother and I moved our mother into Hartwell Lodge in Feb 18 when it became evident she could no longer be at home even with support and it was the best thing we could have done. The staff have been wonderful and mum is so happy there. She tells me every time I visit how glad she is to be there
and how lucky we were to find the home. And that's what it is - a home. The staff treat people kindly and affectionately as if they are friends and relatives. Mum has become frailer and is now permanently in bed but staff pop in and out to chat and make sure she's comfortable. They seem to go out of their way to help her and by doing that help me as well.

We were so glad to find Hartwell Lodge when we were looking for a respite space for my father for a month. We were struck by the care of the staff, their positive and engaged attitude and the homely feel of the home. My father has since chosen to remain in Hartwell, as his mobility decreases and we

My mum moved to this care home 6 months ago. I was helped with sorting out the move by the manager who made it all seem easy and not a problem to do. Mum has been happy there (or as happy as she probably ever will be) after her stroke. The staff are kind, caring and very patient even when mum is being
difficult and grumpy which she can be. The staff seem happy and enjoy being with the residents and helping them.
Mum has recently moved in with me and my family and once again the manager has sorted things out and is happy for me to get in touch if I need advice. Mum is also returning to Hartwell Lodge for daycare which has been an absolute saviour for me and hopefully will be able to go there for respite care.
I appreciate much more now what a difficult job carers have.
I cannot thank Hartwell Lodge enough for caring for mum and hope she can continue going there for some time to come.

We had to find a suitable care home for our Auntie and therefore had to view four establishments and Hartwell, the last one on our list was Hartwell Lodge, from the moment we stepped inside you felt it was the right place, both ourselves and another friend of my auntie reviewed the different care homes
and both selected Hartwell, further to that we both chose the same bedroom.
Both agreed that the management was very open and honest they explained they had been under an improvement review and they were nearly there at top marks, if this review was to go by then a few more homes MUST have them ASAP.
Since then my brother's health went downhill and it was agreed that he should go into a home, for his own safety, through respite for his sister and carer we had visited my brother in numerous care homes in the Fareham area, we requested he went into Hartwell
All in all, a very good choice and good value compared to some of the care homes in the area.

My auntie and uncle were lucky enough to be referred to Hartwell lodge for respite care for my uncle and end of life care for my auntie who was diagnosed with terminal cancer just 4 weeks previously.


It was amazing they were given a double room so that they could be together, in my aunties last days.

It meant that my uncle could also be cared for, his meals provided, and most importantly he could be with his wife of 62 years.


My auntie passed away, which was very sad but the staff were incredible, their care and professionalism were excellent. My uncle has now gone back home, but if in the future he needs more support we would have no hesitation to return to such a caring, well run establishment.

We have been very impressed and grateful for the care given to residents at Hartwell lodge. It had been very difficult trying to find the right home for our family member but this move has been managed very efficiently and sensitively.
The staff have made a great effort to get to know him quickly and
he has settled in very well and is happy for the first time in many months.
We are kept informed and up to date but also have the reassurance that everything is being looked after and managed properly.
I cannot thank the manager and her staff enough for what they have done and would highly recommend Hartwell Lodge for the quality of the care given.

Jennifer is very passionate about her role as Manager and has a vast knowledge of the care sector. With several CQC inspections under her belt she is very well equipped to ensure the service is offering high quality care as well as meeting requirements. She prides herself on being caring both personally and professionally and she feels that combining the two helps her to empathise and have positive relationships with residents and their loved ones. She is proud to have been named an "exemplar" manager by our CQC inspector. Jenny has made Merry Hall a home from home for all the team and is grateful to be a member of Buckland Care's Merry Hall family.
