Hartwell Lodge is located half a mile from Fareham town centre and is set in an exclusive residential area. The home provides a range of quality care services including: residential, dementia, respite, nursing, palliative or end-of-life care and day care.

The bedrooms at Hartwell Lodge are individually decorated and have en-suite bathrooms, while a conservatory dining room adds light and airiness to the home. Residents have a choice of two lounges to reside in, depending on whether they choose to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet or participate in a variety of activities with other residents.

Activities are an extremely important part of the day-to-day life at Hartwell Lodge. A dedicated co-ordinator schedules a variety of activities for residents, which can be adapted to meet their needs. One-to-one activities can also be organised in the rooms of residents who are less able, if preferred.

Hartwell Lodge has trained cooks who provide freshly prepared, nutritious dishes at every mealtime. The meals can be adapted to suit the needs of each resident, whether it be a simple preference or a dietary requirement.

Having lived independently for a number of years in November, my 93-year-old mother became very unwell and domiciliary care was insufficient. My brother and I had previously looked at the above care home and the manager visited Mum at home and mum was admitted 4 days later.


After 2 weeks of superb

nursing care, brilliant nutrition and dedicated care Mum is stronger, livelier and happier than she has been for years! Everything is above excellent and we can visit anytime. We are thrilled!

I found Merry Hall to be an excellent place - full of cheerful and very caring staff. They look after their residents very well and absolutely nothing seems to be too much trouble for them, whether cleaning staff, medical, pastoral or managerial. My parents-in-law were made to feel welcome immediately
and sensitively helped to deal with the transition from independent to assisted living.


We looked at a number of homes before settling on Merry Hall - you can easily pay rather more for a great deal less care elsewhere.

This is a small, friendly and caring home. The residents are treated with dignity, in a happy environment and encouraged to take part in daily activities. The staff take the time to speak and listen to residents and try hard to respect their wishes - no mean feat when dealing with those suffering from
dementia whose wishes may change from one minute to the next!


Residents are offered a good choice of meals at lunchtime and the home has recently introduced more variety at tea time. Residents and relatives are given the opportunity to voice opinions and preferences with regard to meals, activities etc.


We moved my Mother-in-law to Merry Hall from a larger nursing home (boasting an outstanding award from the CQC) as we felt the care aspect there was failing which is of the utmost importance.


We are pleased to have found Merry Hall - and can be confident that our Mum is well cared for.

Staff are excellent. Seem short of numbers, the hall is well maintained. Food is good- at times too much. Coffee's good. Sometimes have to wait for support but with 30 rooms here a lot of people need help- not many in the lounge. Hairdressing excellent. Very good washing clothes and help when having
a shower.

My dad went to Merry Hall from hospital for end of life care, he was very poorly and had given up, they looked after him with dignity and brought fun back into his life. They cooked him what he wanted as he hadn't eaten for weeks and encouraged him to drink. Mum went in all day every day and they looked
after her as well, she joined him for meals. This is so important as such a sad time. The family were always made welcome. We couldn't have asked for better care! Thank you to each one of them.

The team were very friendly and caring. My husband went there from hospital for end of life care and he had all but given up. They looked after him with dignity and brought fun back into his life, he said that he enjoyed being there. I went every day to be with him and joined in with activities and
meals and am so grateful to have been able to share this time with him.
The day before he passed was my birthday and they gave me a lovely day under such sad circumstances. I have been invited to go back to visit friends I made and have lunch with them. They are all wonderful people. Well done team.

Merry Hall Nursing & Residential Home was a warm and welcoming home for my father-in-law. The staff were very professional, caring and friendly at all times, always willing to help even when extremely busy. Accommodation was attractive and comfortable and suitable. All the food and drinks were tasty
and in suitable quantities, with the chef who was happy to personalise menus. Thank you.

Since the new management has been implemented there have been significant changes in the nursing home. Particularly to a new dining room which is lighter and more welcoming, the inclusion of family to have meals with their relatives in the home. The carers are lovely and they appear to work more efficiently.
My mother is well cared for and I can only speak on her behalf and thank all the staff for supporting her. May the home fo from strength to strength.

My mother has been a resident at Merry Hall for nearly two years and has always been treated with great dignity and affection. Several members of staff have gone over and above their job descriptions to ensure my mother's happiness. The home is currently undergoing a refurbishment with the staff working
hard to provide a pleasant environment.

Jennifer is very passionate about her role as Manager and has a vast knowledge of the care sector. With several CQC inspections under her belt she is very well equipped to ensure the service is offering high quality care as well as meeting requirements. She prides herself on being caring both personally and professionally and she feels that combining the two helps her to empathise and have positive relationships with residents and their loved ones.
