Although Mum was only at Oaklands for a couple of months we would like to thank all staff for making her short time there so comfortable. For also treating Mum with kindness, dignity and above all being so caring in the short time she was there.

Due to my sister's circumstances, staff have not always been able to deal with her, but have tried their best with her.
My main criticism was the phone took a long time to be answered or not answered at also did not get feedback when needed but overall was pleased with the care.

My father was taken to Oaklands initially for respite after having Covid in February 2021. It was a difficult time for all particularly relatives who could not visit him or the home. I had spoken to the manager prior to my dad's arrival asking for various aspects of his care to be taken into account
and for reassurance that he would be well looked after. In the 2 months, dad was there we as a family were just not happy with his care. Communication with residents was difficult but there appeared to be little appreciation of my dad's background or issues with Parkinson's. I was not impressed with the management of the home. I could describe in detail some of the issues but suffice to say that despite the CQC rating of good we couldn't wait to move him elsewhere which we did.

Mum was transferred to Oaklands last year after being in hospital.
It was such a difficult time due to Covid and not being able to comfort her.
The staff at Oaklands were professional, incredibly kind, and patient during such a difficult time.
The administration manager was incredibly informative
from the start, and I can’t thank her enough for all the guidance and care.
The manager always has time for you to discuss any concerns; he made sure Mum was happy and settled in her accommodation.
All the staff during Covid lockdowns worked incredibly hard to keep the residents safe.
Mum sadly suffered from Covid, and the team comforted her while she recovered.
One lady, I would like to thank you for your support for Mum.
Mum has been well looked after and has regained her strength, she has settled in well and now joins in with the many activities that are arranged for the residents.
The two activities ladies are incredible at their job and organise wonderful activities for the residents.

My beautiful dad had been in hospital for months with various issues and complications, but he was eventually put into Oaklands House as a 'D2A' patient while his care was assessed by the social services.
Horrible Covid restrictions made it very difficult for us to visit Dad, but Oaklands took good
care of him right up until he passed away.
The house environment is very calming for the residents, and the staff and management are very nice too.
It almost seems strange that we will never visit Dad at Oaklands again, and I wish we could.

The staff at Oaklands work very hard to ensure their residents are happy and well looked after, with the individual needs taken into account and catered for. Nothing seems too much trouble when it comes to caring. There is a real family spirit to the home and a happy atmosphere. Both residents and staff
are always cheerful. Activities are always doing their best to engage residents and keep them occupied, and it's lovely to see all the exciting things they get up to. I am very happy to have found Oaklands, and they have done a very good job of looking after my relative during the time they have been living there. I cannot thank them enough.

We feel that this is probably the best care home that Mum has been in since she went into care. Although we have not been able to visit as much as we would like due to Covid-19, when we have visited, the staff always seem friendly and have plenty of time for us and Mum.

There is nothing bad to say about Oaklands House care home. The staff are amazing and are always welcoming. They respond to and interact with all the residents in a most positive manner, and I would not have a better place for my wife to be in. My thanks go to them all.

My father has been a resident for just over a year. He tells me often how happy he is and what fun he has. He adores his carers and so do I. My visits have been a joy. My Dad is always smiling and he so enjoys music and singalongs. The team at Oaklands make sure his music is always in place for his
enjoyment. The nursing team are excellent and keep me informed of my Dad's health etc. Team Oaklands are great and listen to my needs and requests too. Brilliant team.

In spite of being one of only two full-time care staff on duty over the weekend (the rest were agency workers with limited familiarity with the residents) she was giving unstinted effort to make the residents feel valued and important, going above and beyond with their personal care.

Our family are very grateful for the care mum received during the final weeks of her life, which she spent ay Oaklands House. Every member of staff we met was happy to answer any questions we had or to find the answers for us. Everyone was caring and considerate and all our questions were answered with
knowledge and understanding. We were kept updated with Mum's progress on a regular basis and whenever we visited she seemed rested and content. The home itself was light and airy and mum had a lovely peaceful room overlooking fields and trees.

My mother was at Oaklands House from September 2016 until the end of February 2019 when she died and I cannot praise this nursing home enough.
Their care of my mother was superb!
They were very caring and compassionate, both towards her and us as relatives.
Any queries we had were quickly dealt
with and my Mum's needs and medication regularly reviewed. They quickly spotted when anything was wrong and immediately involved her GP.
In the last days of her life her care, compared with that of my Father who died in hospital, was outstanding!
She was regularly monitored by staff ensuring she was comfortable. We were allowed to stay with her - indeed we were given another room with a bed and a shower where we could sleep and wash as well as regularly fed too!
This meant that my brother, sister and I were able to be with her 24/7 in the last weeks of her life, which meant so much.
Staff really cared for my Mum - you cannot find that in all nursing homes as we know from previous experiences.

A happy place to come to. Residents and staff are comfortable with each other. Residents all looked cared for, clean and tidy. Rooms are comfortable and en-suite I regard as essential. As soon as we came here, we felt a warmth and kindness. A fresh, open and very well planned environment. Byron Nadgie

Job Title: Home Manager

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, my name is Byron Nadgie and I am the manager at Oaklands House. I joined the Future Care Group because I passionately believe in their core values: Care, Comfort, Compassion and Credibility, which should always be at the centre of the way we work.


I started at Oaklands House 3 years ago, I have a wealth of knowledge and experience working within the care sector, having managed Nursing/Dementia and Residential homes, led management teams as a Regional and Managing Director, and finally became Head of Quality for the priory group south west and Wales, before moving to HC-0ne as a Quality Turnaround Lead Practitioner.


Starting out from the ground upwards, I first became a registered manager in 2002, and since then have enjoyed working within the care industry in management or senior management roles.


As a relative myself of a mum living in Nursing care, I strive to promote best practise, person-centred approaches and positive outcomes for all those who call Oaklands home.


I have a keen love of the outdoors, sitting in the sunshine and a passion for writing fantasy and fiction novels.

Hi, I’m Sally, the administration manager.


I’ve been with the company for two years after a complete career change of 16 years in retail. I joined The Future Care Group as an HCA then progressed to a senior and now I’m the administration manager, over my time with the company I have built up relationships with families over their loved ones and now I’m the contact for them as they contact the home. My role is fast-paced and each day is different.

Hello, I’m Martina, and I’d like to introduce myself. I’m a member of the Administration team, primarily stationed at our reception area. I’m typically the first point of contact when you visit Oaklands. I moved to the UK from Slovakia 16 years ago and joined Oaklands two and a half years ago as a night healthcare assistant. My passion for meeting new people and assisting families in maintaining their connections led me to make a career change and join the Administration team at Oaklands. I’m part of a three-person team under the leadership of Sally Ware.

We love to hear residents laugh and are proud of how, irrespective of disability, all of our residents join in. We use a person-centred approach to enable people to have moments of joy and meaning.

Sarah Barratt

Job Title: Head of Catering

Joined: 1998

I'm Sarah, the Head of Catering! I have been at Oaklands for 21 years, where I actually started as a Carer. I often helped in the kitchen where I was mentored by the chef and began to learn about food preparation, diet and nutrition. I progressed to Chef and now Head Chef, and I am proud of my achievement and running our team.


We are always looking for ways to make food interesting, irrespective of dietary need. As a keen Baker I love to try out new recipes. I have a team of 5 chefs and kitchen assistants all of which are focused on providing a positive meal time experience.
